今天采访到的是来自意大利的Groove Metal乐队Downburst，成立于2022年的Downburst乐队由Giulio（前 South of No North / Abyss of Decay）和Ciro（前South of No North / Planh / B.D.O. North / Abyss of Decay）组建，不久Salvatore（前Forbidden Grace）和Vinz（前Circle of Witches / Terrorfront）也加入了乐队。阵容齐整后，他们开始制作具有直接而沉重音效的曲目，交替使用攻击性和旋律部分并加入了实验性的合成器。由于工作原因Salvatore在第一年后被迫离开了乐队。Downburst继续以三人乐队的形式存在。2024年Stefano(Dispnea, Gort / Ars Oriendi前成员）加入了乐队。乐队目前正在制作首张 EP，预计将于2025年2月发行并计划在坎帕尼亚和其他地区举办一系列演出。前不久杂志与乐队的吉他 / 歌手Jules取得联系进行了一次专访！

Today's interview is with Downburst, a Groove Metal band from Italy, formed in 2022, Downburst was formed by Giulio (ex South of No North / Abyss of Decay) and Ciro (ex South of No North / Planh / B.D.O.). North / Abyss of Decay), soon joined by Salvatore (ex-Forbidden Grace) and Vinz (ex-Circle of Witches / Terrorfront). With a full lineup, they began to produce tracks with a direct and heavy sound, alternating aggressive and melodic parts and adding experimental synthesizers. Salvatore was forced to leave the band after the first year due to work reasons, Downburst continued as a three-piece and in 2024 Stefano (former member of Dispnea, Gort / Ars Oriendi) joined the band. The band is currently working on their debut EP, which is expected to be released in February 2025, and plans to play a series of shows in Campania and elsewhere. The magazine got in touch with the band's guitarist/vocalist Jules for an interview!

Hello brother nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview, I think this is the first time you guys have been interviewed by a Chinese magazine, first of all say hello to all the Chinese fans, in what year did Downburst form and how did you form the band?
J: 向所有正在阅读这篇文章的中国金属乐迷问好！我是Jules（Downburst歌手和节奏吉他手）我们很高兴能接受外国杂志的采访，尤其因为我们是一支刚成立不久的乐队。事实上Downburst乐队诞生于不到两年前的那不勒斯，是我和Iuri（鼓手）在之前的一个项目中共同演奏了几年之后产生的一个想法。
A greeting to all the Chinese metalheads reading this! Here's Jules (Downburst voice and rhythm guitar). We are glad to be interviewed by a foreign magazine, especially as we are a recently formed band. In fact, Downburst was born less than two years ago in Naples from an idea conceived by me and Iuri (drums), after we had spent several years playing together in a previous project.
V: 你们的乐队目前有四名成员，你们都是第一代成员吗？你们是否更换过乐队成员，新成员是如何加入乐队的，你们对他们的工作满意吗？
Your band currently has four members, and you're all first generation members? Have you ever changed band members, how did the new members join the band, and are you happy with their work?
J: 事实上，我们所有人都来自其他乐队，或多或少在意大利地下音乐圈中有些名气，因此我们决定创建这个项目，将我们的音乐经验融合在一起。几个月后我们招募了主音吉他手Vinz和贝斯手Sal，但后者因工作原因不得不离开，因此我们暂时以三重奏的形式进行创作。几个月前我们现在的贝斯手Steve加入了乐队并立即融入了我们的氛围。
Actually, all of us come from other bands, more or less known in the Italian underground scene, so we decided to create this project to merge our musical experiences. A few months after recruiting Vinz (lead guitar) and Sal (bass), the latter had to leave for work reasons, so we composed as a trio for a while. A couple of months ago, Steve, our current bassist, joined the band and immediately clicked with our vibe.

Can you describe your creative process? You are currently working on your first EP album, how is this album coming along so far?
J: 前两首曲子是我在乐队成立前创作的，但显然经过了重新创作。其他曲目则是集体创作的。我们的创作过程总是有整个乐队的参与，因为这样我们才能纠正任何缺陷，创造出让所有人都满意的同质声音。目前我们正处于第一张EP的混音阶段，这张EP包含五首歌曲，应该会在春季发行，同时还会推出两张单曲和专门的商品。
The first two tracks were composed by me before the band was formed, but they have obviously been reworked. The other tracks, however, were composed collectively. Our creative process always involves the whole band because this allows us to correct any flaws and create a homogeneous sound that satisfies everyone. Currently, we are in the mixing phase of our first EP, which consists of five tracks and should be ready in spring, supported by two singles and dedicated merchandise.
V: 你们的Logo设计很独特，是谁为你们设计了这个Logo？他的灵感来源是什么？
Your logo design is unique, who designed this logo for you? What was his inspiration?
J: 我亲自设计了乐队的Logo。中央象形图的灵感来自于垂直向下的元素（这与Downburst一词的含义有关）但同时我又希望这个符号易于记忆并具有让人联想到神秘和部落象征的视觉风格（无独有偶，它在视觉上很像美国原住民的捕梦器）对于年长的人来说，它可能会让你想起电子游戏“Quake”！ :D
I personally designed the band’s logo. The inspiration for the central pictogram includes elements that evoke verticality downward (due to the meaning of the word Downburst), but at the same time, I wanted a symbol that was easy to remember and had a visual style reminiscent of esoteric and tribal symbolism (not coincidentally, it visually resembles a Native American dreamcatcher). And for the older ones among you, it might remind you of the videogame Quake! :D
V: 你的音乐主题是什么？为什么选择这个音乐主题，你想通过它表达什么？你写过歌词吗，谁写的，灵感来自什么？
What's your music theme pipe? Why did you choose this musical theme and what do you want to express through it? Have you written any lyrics, who wrote them and what inspired them?
J: 我们决定采用一个明确的概念来表现与我们的音乐相关的意象：一个假想的（但可信的）末世现实，人类在记忆中的资本主义世界中勉强生存，而这个世界现在已成为一片废墟，使他们成为虚假幸福（建立在许多人的痛苦之上）的孤儿。在这个世界里，暴力和压迫是唯一的法则。疯狂的麦克斯的影迷完全可以理解我所说的那种情绪。
We decided to adopt a well-defined concept for the imagery associated with our music: a hypothetical (but plausible) post-apocalyptic reality, where humans barely survive in the memory of a capitalist world now in ruins, which has left them orphaned of a fake well-being (built on the suffering of many). A world where violence and oppression are the only laws. Fans of Mad Max can perfectly understand the mood I’m referring to.
V: 你计划在哪个唱片公司发行第一张EP专辑？你是如何与这家唱片公司取得联系的？
What label are you planning to release your first EP album on? How did you get in touch with this label?
J: 关于这张EP，它是我们自己制作的，因为我们喜欢尝试，我们的排练室配备的设备也允许我们这样做。将来我们会考虑与一家唱片公司（意大利或外国）合作，制作一张专辑。
As for the EP, it’s self-produced, as we love to experiment, and our rehearsal room is equipped with gear that allows us to do so. In the future, we’ll consider working with a label (Italian or foreign) to produce an album.
V: 你们曾举办过一些现场演出，我相信这些演出给你们留下了深刻的印象，你们能描述一下现场的气氛吗，你们计划在2025年举办哪些现场演出，以及推出哪些新作品？
You've put on some live shows which I'm sure have left a lasting impression on you, can you describe the atmosphere and what other live shows you're planning to put on in 2025 as well as new work?
J: 我们最近才开始现场演出，由于阵容的变化，我们经历了一段热身期。我们很幸运能在地下音乐界的一个知名音乐节Valle Caudina Metal Fest上演出，这让我们有机会立即向很多人介绍自己。演出得到了很多积极的反馈，这超出了我们的预期，因为我们几乎默默无闻。我们已经安排了未来几个月的其他演出，包括为意大利历史悠久、具有国际影响力的Stormlord乐队担任开场嘉宾。可以说到目前为止我们真的没什么可抱怨的！
We’ve only recently started playing live, after a warm-up period due to the lineup change. We were lucky to kick off by playing at an established festival in the underground scene, the Valle Caudina Metal Fest, which gave us the opportunity to introduce ourselves to a good number of people right away. There was a lot of positive feedback, more than we expected, considering we were practically unknown. We already have other shows scheduled for the coming months, including an opening slot for Stormlord, a historic Italian band of international relevance. Let’s just say we really can’t complain so far!
V: 你们乐队受到了哪些音乐的影响？你能列出一些你最喜欢的吗？
What are some of your band's influences and can you list some of your favorites?
J: 我们的音乐风格可以说是混合了NWOAHM和Groove Metal以及Nu-Metal的影响。可以肯定的是，对我们的音乐产生影响的乐队都是一些主要流派，如Lamb of God、Machine Head、Slipknot、Gojira......
Our genre can be described as a mix of NWOAHM and Groove Metal with Nu-Metal influences, but once the EP is ready, you can judge it for yourselves and define it, though we don’t want to box ourselves in for now. For sure, the bands that influence our sound are genre staples like Lamb of God, Machine Head, Slipknot, Gojira...
V: 你们是一支非常年轻的乐队，但也是一支非常有潜力的乐队，我会一直支持和关注你们的，对吧，我也希望通过这次采访让更多的中国乐迷关注、支持你们的乐队，最后你们有什么想对中国的乐迷朋友说的吗？
You guys are a very young band, but a very promising band, I will always support and pay attention to you guys also u right, I also hope that through this interview let more Chinese fans pay attention to, support your band, in the end do you have anything you want to say to your Chinese fans friends?
J: 正如前面提到的，我们很高兴能有机会立刻在国外受到关注，因为我们的初衷并不是要把自己局限在意大利的国界内，很遗憾，即使是非常有才华的乐队，在国际上取得巨大的成功也会受到一定的限制。对于中国乐迷来说，我们建议不要局限于市场上的主流产品，因为在很多情况下，来自地下场景的乐队可能更具创新性和实验性。我们希望也能得到你们的支持，希望有一天能在你们的国家组织一次巡演。很快你们就能在我们的社交媒体渠道上听到我们的歌曲了，我们迫不及待地想收到你们的反馈。感谢您接受我们的深入采访，再见！
As mentioned earlier, we are really happy to have the opportunity to get noticed abroad right away, as our intention is not to limit ourselves to Italian borders, which unfortunately can somewhat restrict even very talented bands that might achieve great international success. For Chinese fans, we can only recommend not stopping at the mainstream offerings the market provides because, in many cases, bands from the underground scene can turn out to be more innovative and experimental. We hope to be supported by you as well and to be able to organize a tour in your country someday.
