死亡现场 - 俄罗斯Death Metal乐队Grenouer Inc.专访

说到俄罗斯的死亡金属，一直都是国内歌迷一直在讨论的国家之一，的确在俄罗斯孕育了大量的优秀乐队，甚至国际知名的乐队，我今天采访到的就是一支来自俄罗斯的Death Metal乐队Grenouer Inc.，组建于2021年的Grenouer Inc.乐队，虽然是一支很年轻的乐队，但是他们的成员都是在俄罗斯非常优秀的音乐家，由Grenouer乐队的前任和现任成员组建的，乐队的名字也是由Grenouer这个名字而来，但是为了区分这两支乐队的名字，所以乐队在后面加上了Inc.单词，2023年乐队在Got Prosody厂牌发行了两首单曲“Suicide in Horror”和“Ignorance and Imprudence”，但是不久之后Got Prosody厂牌宣布关闭，随后俄罗斯斯本土厂牌Symbol of Domination Prod.（Satanath Records子厂牌）与乐队合作2025年发行了他们的现场录音专辑“Death Panorama Live”，前不久杂志通过Satanath Records厂牌的协助与Grenouer Inc.乐队的歌手Andrey "Ind" Merzlyakov取得联系进行了一次专访！

When it comes to death metal in Russia, it has always been one of the countries that fans in China have been discussing. Indeed, Russia has nurtured a large number of excellent bands, even internationally renowned bands. The band I interviewed today is a Death Metal band called Grenauer Inc. from Russia, formed in 2021. Although they are a very young band, their members are all very outstanding musicians in Russia, formed by the former and current members of Grenauer. The band's name is also derived from Grenauer, but in order to distinguish between these two band names, the band added the word 'Inc.' at the end. In 2023, the band will be on the Got Prosody label. Two singles were released, "Suicide in Horror" and "Ignorance and Impunity," but soon after, Got Prosody The label announced its closure, and subsequently, the Russian local label Symbol of Domination Prod. (a subsidiary of Satanath Records) collaborated with the band to release their live recording album "Death Panorama Live" in 2025. Recently, the magazine contacted Andrey "Ind" Merzlyakov, the singer of Grenauer Inc., with the assistance of Satanath Records, for an exclusive interview!

Hello brother, nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview. I think this is the first time your band has been interviewed by a Chinese magazine. First of all, let me say hello to all Chinese fans. Grenouer Inc. was founded in 2021 and is a very young band. How did you form this band in the first place?

A: 下午好！亲爱的读者们，来自冰冷的俄罗斯的欢呼！坦率地说，我记得几年前Grenouer接受了中国杂志Painkiller的采访。无论如何，这指的是Grenouer，但我们应该将Grenouer和Grenouer Inc.区分为两种不同的行为，所以让我澄清一下。Grenouer乐队成立于30多年前，早在1992年就在彼尔姆市成立了。最初是一支Death乐队，Grenouer经历了阵容的改变，搬迁到另一个城市（圣彼得堡），音乐转变为带有Prog风格的Modern Metal乐队。这意味着现场表演的早期材料不可用，前四张全长专辑与Grenouer今天制作的专辑大不相同，然而，我们的老同学总是要求那个时代的任何东西，最后在2021年，我们启动了一个项目，旨在表演Grenouer的Death Metal曲目，该项目的名称为Grenouer Inc.。从长远来看，Grenouer Inc.成为了一个单独的巡回演出项目，然后随着新歌的出现，你会在你的网站上注册一个新乐队。两个不同的乐队，在一天结束时，就像Venom和Venom Inc.

Good afternoon! Dear readers, cheers from ice-cold Russia! Frankly speaking I remember Grenouer being interviewed by Painkiller, Chinese magazine, years ago. Anyway, this refers to Grenouer, but we ought to distinguish Grenouer and Grenouer Inc. as two different acts, so let me clarify that. Grenouer band was formed more than 30 years ago, back in 1992 in Perm city. Originally a death band, Grenouer suffered a sea-change through line-up changes, relocation to another city (Saint Petersburg), music transformation into a modern metal band with a touch of prog. That meant unavailability of early material for live performances, first four full-length albums are so different from what Grenouer produces today, however, our old-school-fans always requested anything from that era, and finally, in 2021 we launched a project aimed to perform Grenouer’s death metal repertoire, that got the title Grenouer Inc. Originally it was intended to give one show only. In the long run Grenouer Inc. became a separate touring project and then, as new songs emerged, you got a new band registered on your radar. Two different bands, at the end of the day, just like Venom and Venom Inc.

V: 你的乐队都是第一代成员，你们彼此非常熟悉，所以再次创作歌曲会很方便，因为你知道你想创作什么样的作品。你能介绍一下你的创作过程吗？

Your band is all first generation members and you are very familiar with each other, so it will be very convenient for you to create songs again because you know what kind of work you want to create. Can you introduce your creative process?

A: 从技术上讲，我们很难把Grenouer Inc.称为一个完全的新人乐队。它由Grenouer的现任和前任成员组成。我们认识几十年了，在一起度过了富有成果的时光。为不同城镇的粉丝现场表演，他们告诉我们：“传奇终于回来了！”，还有什么比这更令人惊叹的呢。我需要承认，首先我们需要表演90年代的歌曲，因为这是老牌Grenouer Inc.形成的本质，以平衡相当现代和多样化的Grenouer。Grenouer Inc.也一直在创作新歌，但我们并不急于把它们带到录音室。发行了两首新单曲，总有一天会发行一张完整专辑。我们生活在不同的城市，在巡演、舞台和后台更经常地见面，所以创作过程是基于下载和上传即兴重复段和演示。但我们清楚地了解我们需要通过Grenouer Inc.向公众展示什么。

Technically we can hardly call Grenouer Inc. a totally newcomer band. It is comprised of current and ex-members of Grenouer. We have known each other for decades, spending a fruitful time together. Playing live for fans in different cities and towns, where they tell us: “The legend is finally back!”, what can be more breathtaking. I need to admit that in the first place we need to perform songs dated 90’s, because that is the essence of formation of old-school Grenouer Inc., as a counterbalance to quite modern and diverse Grenouer.  Grenouer Inc. keeps composing new songs as well, but we don’t hurry to bring them to studio. Two new singles released, a full-length album will follow someday. We live in different cities, and meet more often in person on tour, stage and backstage, so the creative process is based on downloading and uploading riffs and demos. But we clearly understand what we need to bring to the public with Grenouer Inc.

V: 你在2025年发行了一张现场录音专辑，录音效果很好。你在哪个录音室录制了这张专辑？哪位制作人为你制作了这张专辑？

You released a live recording album in 2025, which had excellent recording effects. Which studio did you record the album in? Which producer made this album for you?

A: 这正是2021年12月在彼尔姆举行的节目，原本是独家和一次性的，在Death Panorama Festival上，我们只需要录制，我们做到了，让音响工程人员和多轨录音人员参与所有必要的东西。虽然有点忙碌，但我们不可避免地忽略了某些事情。后来事实证明，以高质量的方式混合曲目是一个挑战。除了大量的编辑甚至修复外，我们还应该保持现场表演的感觉和场地的神奇氛围。这就是为什么花了近四年时间才获得Grenouer Inc.热切追求的结果的真正原因。现在听起来很有价值，任何听众都会在演出中感受到强烈的存在感，但我们不得不将声音工程师、混音工程师、制作人和他们不同的方法结合起来。这是一项艰巨的工作，非常感谢所有参与其中的人，这是一个专业团队，我们非常感谢他们对每一个里程碑的贡献。

That’s exactly the show dated December 2021 in Perm, intended to be exclusive and one-time, the set at Death Panorama Festival We just had to record that, and we did, engaging sound engineering crew and multitrack recording with all required stuff. It was a bit hectic though and we inevitably overlooked certain things. Later on, it proved to be a challenge to have tracks mixed in a quality manner. In addition to great amount of edits and even fixing, we were supposed to maintain the feeling of live performance and the magic atmosphere in the venue. That’s the actual reason why it took almost four years to obtain the result Grenouer Inc. were ardently aiming at. It sounds worthy now, and any listener gets a strong feeling of presence at the gig, but we were forced to combine sound engineers, mixing engineers, producers and their different approaches. A big job done, huge thanks to everyone involved, it’s a team of professionals, we highly appreciate their contribution to every milestone on the way.

The logo design of your band is very simple, but this design form is my personal favorite because I can easily remember your names. Who designed this logo for you? Your album artwork is also beautifully designed. Who designed these artworks for you?

A:Grenouer Inc.的标志显然是基于旧的Grenour标志，该标志最初是由1993年首次Demo封面的同一个人设计的。Grenouer Inc.的标志看起来或多或少相同，这就是重点。Grenouer标志性的音乐演变之后是相关的标志更新，目前的官方标志可能永远不会被视为最终的。虽然Grenouer Inc.的标志足够传统，易于阅读，让人想起了老式乐队，很高兴知道你喜欢它。它不是特别新，但我们需要这样的链接到Grenouer的Death Metal时期，所以有效的重新设计是最好的选择。Grenouer Inc.“Death Panorama Live”发行版的艺术作品和布局由来自意大利的Simone Sut（N.B.S.Imagination&Design）设计，她是我们真正的朋友，也是我们不止一次合作的专业人士，她成功地再现了现场专辑的理念和适当的吸引力。没有人工智能，传统的Photoshop操作和自然的头脑风暴，有时近乎疯狂，好吧，非常感谢你Simone，你太不可思议了！

Grenouer Inc. logo is evidently based on old Grenouer logo, originally designed by the same guy who provided a front cover for the debut demo dated 1993. Grenouer Inc. logo looks more or less identical, and that was the point. Grenouer’s marked music evolution was followed by relevant logo updates, and current official logo might never be reckoned as final. While Grenouer Inc.’s logo is traditional enough, easy to read, reminds of old-school bands and great to know that you like it. It is not particularly new, but we needed such link to death metal period of Grenouer, so valid redesign was the best option. The artwork and layout for the release Grenouer Inc. “Death Panorama Live” is designed by Simone Sut (N.B.S. Imagination& Design) from Italy, our true friend, a professional we cooperated more than once, who managed to recreate the idea of the live album and appropriate appeals. No AI, traditional Photoshop manipulations with natural brainstorming, sometimes on the verge of insanity, well, thank you very, much, Simone, you are incredible!

V: 你与Symbol of Domination Prod.合作发行了一张专辑，这是Satanath Record的子公司。你是如何与该品牌建立合作关系的？你对这个品牌的工作满意吗？

You collaborated with Symbol of Domination Prod. to release an album, which is a subsidiary of Satanath Record. How did you establish contact with this label for collaboration? Are you satisfied with the job at this brand?

A: 对于Death Metal乐队来说，现场专辑并不是那么传统，我们正在寻找一个唱片公司，准备给它一个机会。100%地下金属唱片公司Satanath Records似乎很适合我们，但即使是他们的艺术自由也不够自由，所以我们被建议通过他们的子公司Symbol of Domination发行。Grenouer Inc.最初是一个现场回顾表演，所以唱片从现场专辑开始很有意义。最后我个人喜欢这张CD的样子，粉丝们的反应非常积极。

Live albums are not that traditional for death metal bands, and we were searching for a label, ready to give it a fly. Satanath Records, a 100% underground metal record label, seemed us a good fit, but even their artistic freedom was not free enough, so we were suggested to be released via their subsidiary, Symbol of Domination. Grenouer Inc. started as a live retrospective act, so it makes a lot of sense that the discography starts with the live album. In the end of the day, I personally like how the CD looks, and fans’ reaction is very positive.  

V: 你的乐队成立于2021年，但你的作品直到2023年才发布。两年后你发布作品的原因是什么？

Your band was founded in 2021, but your works were only released in 2023. What is the reason why you released your works two years later?

A: 2021年底，Grenouer Inc.进行了演出，录制了曲目，甚至在明年，我们也不打算做任何其他事情。我当时正忙于Grenouer和其他参与其他项目的人，记住我们正在研究如何正确地混音和制作录音。在某个时候，我们开始收到俄罗斯不同地区推广人的建议，让我们越来越多地演奏，这让我们了解到，Grenouer Inc.是一支可行的乐队，超过了为特定粉丝群表演Grenouer的老曲目的项目。我们毫不着急地开始创作新的东西，两首新歌变成了两首单曲，你可以在“Death Panorama Live”上听到它们作为额外曲目。Grenouer Inc.还拍摄了两个音乐视频，所以我们有事情要做。虽然时间过得很快，但迟到总比不到好。

In the end of 2021 Grenouer Inc. played the gig, recorded tracks and then even next year we didn’t intend to do anything else. I was busy with Grenouer, the other guys involved in other projects, and remember, we were figuring out how to properly mix and produce the recording. At some point we started to receive suggestions from promoters in different regions of Russia to play more and more, and that brought us to understanding that Grenouer Inc. is a viable band, exceeding the project performing Grenouer’s old repertoire for the particular fanbase. In no rush we started to compose something new, two new songs became two singles, you can hear them as bonus track on “Death Panorama Live”. Grenouer Inc. also shot two music videos, so we had things to do. Time flies fast though, but better late than never.

V: 首先，祝贺你的现场录音专辑在2025年发行。录音很好，你可以感受到现场的温暖。你的作品布局复杂而复古，每个成员都配合得很好。你对自己的作品有什么看法？

First of all, congratulations on the release of your live recording album in 2025. The recording is very good, and you can feel the warmth of the scene. Your works have complex and retro arrangements, and each member cooperates well. What is your opinion on your own works?

A: 首先，感到欣慰的是，发行工作终于定稿了，这张CD使我们能够划清界限并迈出下一步。你在Grenouer Inc.现场专辑中听到的歌曲编排与早期Grenouer录音室专辑中的原版歌曲略有不同。在这里，“复古”是一种赞美，Old School Death Metal所特有的质朴魅力对我而言极具吸引力，远胜于任何超高科技的元素（如果我们谈论的是Death Metal这一流派的话）。我认为我的乐队成员们表达得非常到位，尽管我们远非技艺高超的音乐家，也没有让世界为之轰动，但我们在一起度过了非常愉快的时光，并享受分享我们直白的曲调。

In the first place, it feels like a relief that the release is finalized, the CD enabled us to draw the line and to make the next step forward. The arrangement of the songs you hear on the Grenouer Inc. live album, is a bit different from the original songs one can find on early Grenouer studio albums. Retro is a kind of a compliment here, rustic charm of vintage death metal is heart-appealing to me, more than anything ultra high-tech, if we are talking about death metal genre. I think that my bandmates express themselves effectively, even though we are so far from being extremely skilled musicians and don’t set the world on fire, we are having a great time together and enjoy sharing our straightforward tunes.

V: 你参加过哪些音乐节，哪些音乐节给你留下了深刻的印象？你能介绍一下当时的现场气氛吗？这是你参加的音乐节的现场录音专辑吗？

Which music festivals have you participated in, and which ones have left a deep impression on you? Can you introduce the live atmosphere at that time? Is this live recording album from the music festival you attended?

A: Death Panorama Festival曾经是Grenouer在90年代在家乡彼尔姆组织的常规活动。这个节日现在又回来了，由鼓手Sergey每年在彼尔姆和俄罗斯其他城市组织。今天的Death Panorama Festival是一个了不起的事件，令人惊叹的乐队，令人难以置信的粉丝，美妙的声音和令人惊叹的情感。好吧，看看现场专辑，它有着激动人心的历史感和……氛围！Grenouer的长期职业生涯包括参加许多国际节日，但我们自己的努力重新焕发活力仍然是我们的骄傲和喜悦。有一天在那儿见！

Death Panorama Festival used to be a regular event Grenouer were organizing in 90’s, in Perm, out hometown. The festival is back now, organized annually by the drummer, Sergey, in Perm and other cities in Russia. Death Panorama today is a terrific happening, amazing bands, unbelievable fans, great sound and stunning emotions. Well, check the live album, it has got the electrifying sense of history and… the atmosphere! Grenouer’s long career included participation in many international festivals, but our own endeavor revitalized remains our pride and delight. See you there someday! 

V: 2026年，你的乐队将承担哪些新任务？例如，创作和录制新作品？你能和大家分享一些信息吗？

What new tasks will your band undertake in 2026? For example, creating and recording new works? Can you share some information with everyone?

A: Grenouer Inc.正在为全长录音室专辑创作歌曲。这是现在的主要任务，我们乐队活动的简明宣言，无需解释，应该详细说明并正确制作。让我们看看进展如何，现在宣布细节还为时过早，这是一个长期目标，在这里，坚持比速度更重要。

Grenouer Inc. is composing songs for the full-length studio album. It is the main mission now, a concise declaration of our band’s activity, and there’s no need to explain it should be elaborated and properly produced. Let’s see how it goes, too early to announce details, that’s a long-term goal, and persistence here matters more than speed.     

V: 你们是一支很年轻但很有前途的乐队。我听过你所有的作品，我会一直关注和支持你的乐队。我也希望通过这次采访吸引更多的中国歌迷关注和支持你们的乐队。面试即将结束。采访结束时，你有什么想对中国粉丝说的吗？

You are a very young but very promising band. I have heard all of your works and I will always pay attention to and support your band. I also hope to attract more Chinese fans to pay attention to and support your band through this interview. The interview is coming to an end. Do you have anything you want to say to Chinese fans at the end of the interview?

A: 50岁时被称为年轻和有前途的人仍然很好，但我总是很高兴在全球范围内找到新的金属兄弟。我非常清楚，人类不仅对空气、水、食物或住所有着相同的需求；文化（和亚文化）将个人团结在一起，金属不是每个人都喜欢的，所以还有什么比遇到灵魂伴侣更好的呢！保持金属，做得好，继续探索新的乐队和他们的曲调！非常感谢您的阅读！

It is still so nice to be called young and very promising at the age of 50, but I always find it enjoyable to find new brothers in metal throughout the globe. I know perfectly well, that humans share identical needs not only for air, water, food or shelter; culture (and subculture) unites individual, metal is a passion not for everyone, so what can be better than meeting soulmates then! Stay metal, be good, go ahead and discover new bands and their tunes! Thank you so much for reading!
