深渊 - 葡萄牙Death Metal乐队Amputate专访

今天采访到的是来自葡萄牙的Death Metal乐队Amputate，2011年由及吉他 / 歌手Nuno一个人组建，2011Nuno发行了一张“Leftovers Consuming”的Demo作品，在这张Demo作品发行之后Nuno开始寻找合作伙伴加入乐队，随后Bob和Filipe加入乐队并且在2014年发行了EP专辑“Necrofornication”，不久之后Nuno由于个人原因移民到了瑞士，随后Tom，Rafahell，Tobias加入乐队并且发行了第三张正式专辑“Abysmal Ascent”，在新专辑发行之际我也联系到了乐队的创始人Nuno进行了一次专访！

Today, I interviewed the Death Metal band Amputate from Portugal. In 2011, it was formed by guitar/singer Nuno alone. In 2011Nuno released a Demo of "Leftovers Consuming". After the release of this Demo, Nuno began to look for partners to join the band. Then Bob and Filipe joined the band and released the EP album Necrofornication in 2014. Soon after, Nuno immigrated to Switzerland for personal reasons, and then Tom, Rafahell and Tobias joined the band and released the third official album Abysmal Ascent. I also contacted Nuno, the founder of the band, for an exclusive interview when the new album was released!

V: 你好兄弟很高兴见到你非常感谢你参加这次采访，我想这是你们第一次接受中国杂志的采访，首先向中国粉丝问好，Amputate乐队于2011年在葡萄牙成立，但后来你搬到了瑞士，是谁首先建议组建这个乐队的？你为什么搬到瑞士？

Hello brother nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview, I think this is the first time you guys have been interviewed by a Chinese magazine, first of all say hello to the Chinese fans, Amputate was formed in Portugal in 2011 but then you moved to Switzerland, who was the one who suggested to form this band in the first place? Why did you move to Switzerland?

N: 我自己组建了这个乐队，因为那时我真的很想玩Death Metal，但是我没有人可以一起玩，所以这实际上是我独自开始这个项目的原因。我做了一个Demo，然后慢慢地开始组合成员，搬到瑞士只是因为我的私人生活，当然还有经济原因。当我在苏黎世找到工作并做完所有的事情后，我开始寻找音乐家在瑞士再次完成Amputate。

I started the band on my own because back in the days i really wanted to play death metal but i didnt have no one to play with so thats actually the reason why i started this project alone. I did one demo and then slowly started putting together the members and the moving to switzerland was just because of my private life and for financial reasons of course. And after i got my job and all things done in Zurich i started looking for musicians to complete amputate in switzerland again.

V: 你的乐队现在只剩下第一代成员Nuno，其他成员都在2022 - 2023年被替换了，为什么你要替换大部分成员？新成员是怎么加入乐队的？你对他们的工作满意吗？Rafahell来自巴西，他现在也住在瑞士吗？

The only member of your band left now is Nuno who is a first generation member, all the other members have been replaced in 2022 - 2023, why are you replacing most of the members? How did the new members join the band? Are you happy with their work, is Rafahell from Brazil and does he also live in Switzerland now?

N: 是的，我也想知道这个，哈哈。我们应该问问其他人。因为我从未取代过任何人。实际上他们离开的原因各不相同。一个人想演奏不同的音乐，一个人对现场表演不再感兴趣，一些人缺乏动力，一个人因为工作而离开，对我来说作为所谓的乐队指挥，我的工作是让Amputate活着，当有人离开时，找到可以接替他的人。我更喜欢一致性，但那只是当时的情况。大多数时候，我们之间并没有嫌隙，所以我会时不时地和以前的人见面，我们只是在一起看表演或者喝一杯。例如我以前的鼓手Philipp Stengele录制了这张新专辑。但是有时候音乐的品味变了，人们开始寻找其他的东西。我还是很投入Death Metal哈哈。瑞士有一个非常小的场景，所以你只需要四处问问，看看一些音乐家，这就是我如何找到新成员的。从我们上一张专辑开始，Tom就已经在乐队里了，但是来自奥莫法吉亚的Rafahell和来自克兰尼姆的Tobias是后来才加入的。这就是为什么Tobias没有在新专辑中演奏，因为他加入的时间太短了。这是另一个问题。这真的是一个小国家，几乎每个音乐家也在其他乐队，如Tobias在Kraanium和Oral Fist Fuck或Tom与贬损。因此由于利益冲突，组织活动和展览总是一个挑战。Rafahell像Tom一样住在苏黎世，他也在Phil的工作室录制低音，他做得很好。

Yes id love to know this too haha. We should ask the other guys. Cause i never replaced no one. It was really them leaving for different reasons. One wanted to play different music, one was not interested anymore playing live shows, some were less motivated, one left due to his job and well for me as the so called bandleader, my job was to keep amputate alive and when somebody left to find someone who could step in. I’d prefer consistency but that was just how things went back then. Most of the time it was no bad blood so from time to time i meet the former guys and we’re just having a good time at a show or just have a drink together. For instance my former drummer Philipp Stengele did record the new album. But sometimes the taste of music changes and people start looking for something else. I’m still devoted to death metal haha. Switzerland has a pretty small scene so you just ask around and check some musicians out thats how i found the new members. Tom has already been in the band since our last album but Raffahell from Omophagia and Tobias from Kraanium joined later on. Thats why Tobias didnt play on the new album cos he joined so briefly. Well that is another problem. This is really a small country and almost every musician is also in other bands like Tobias in Kraanium and Oral Fist Fuck or Tom with Disparaged. So it’s always a challenge to organize things and shows due to interest clashes. Raffahell lives in Zurich like Tom and he recorded the bass also in Phil’s Studio and he did a great job.

V: 你们乐队的每个成员都是创作极端金属的经验丰富的音乐家，你们是如何在自己的乐队里创作歌曲的？你能描述一下创作过程吗？你的新专辑的写作过程是怎样的？我相信你的经历会激励许多年轻的音乐家！

Each member of your band is an experienced musician in writing extreme metal, how do you create songs in your band? Can you describe the creative process? How does the writing process work for your new album? I'm sure your experience will inspire many young musicians!

N: 我只能代表我自己，但我想很多音乐家都是这样工作的。我通常只是即兴演奏，当我有了一个很棒的即兴重复时，一件事接着另一件事，我只是稍微深入挖掘，找到一个很棒的流程。对于这张专辑，我也只是胡乱演奏，当我处于良好的创造性模式时，它就出现了。有时也与时机有关。当你对你的吉他感觉很好的时候，有时候一些很棒的歌曲会突然出现。这很难描述，但它仍然有点神奇。因为不知从哪里开始，一些东西开始成长并成为一个伟大的曲调。创作过程是其背后的主要动力。这是创作歌曲最重要的部分。

Well i can only speak for myself but i presume a lot of musicians work that way. I usually just jam around and when i got a great riff one thing leads to another and i just kinda dig deeper to find a great flow. For this album i also just jammed around as well and it kind of comes just all along when im in a good and creative mode. It’ sometimes also about the timing. When you’re feeling great with your guitar sometimes great songs just kinda pop out. It is hard to describe but it’s still a bit of a magical thing. Because out of nowhere something starts growing and becomes a great tune. The creative process is the main motor behind it. It is the most fund part in making songs.

V: 你的音乐主题是关于Gore的，你为什么选择这个音乐主题，你想通过这个音乐主题表达什么？你们还创作了歌词部分，这些歌词是谁创作的，它的灵感来自于什么呢？

Your music theme is about Gore, why did you choose this music theme and what do you want to express through this music theme? You also wrote the lyrics, who wrote the lyrics and what inspired them?

N: 第一张专辑是关于Gore的，上一个是关于人工智能的，新的有很多不同的主题。大部分歌词都是我写的，在“Abysmal Ascent”中，我们真的写了很多东西。最后一张也很特别，因为这是一张关于人工智能主题的概念专辑。

Well just the first album was about gore. The last one was about artificial intelligence and the new one has really a lot of diffrent topics. I write most of the lyrics and on abysmal ascent we have really a bunch of stuff on it. The last one was also quite special because it was a concept album about the A.I. topic.

V: 你早期的专辑是自己发行的，而对于你后期的作品，你选择了与德国一家非常知名的唱片公司Massacre Records合作，你是如何与这家唱片公司联系并合作的？你对他们的工作满意吗？

Your early albums were self-released and for your later work you chose to work with Massacre Records, which is a very well known label in Germany, how did you get in touch with this label to collaborate? How did you get in touch with them? Were you satisfied with their work?

N: 我们当时正在寻找一家唱片公司，我们非常中意的其中一家就是Massacre Records，因为我们知道他们曾发行过一些很棒的作品，而且不得不承认，对于一支叫Amputate的乐队来说，这个名字也非常合适。瑞士Death Metal元老Requiem乐队的Phil当时也在那个唱片公司，他和他的乐队也帮我们联系了唱片公司。我确信他参与了Massacre Records签约我们的过程，因为他对我们的音乐很感兴趣并试图推动我们的发展。他还拥有一家俱乐部并举办演出。他邀请我们为Malevolent Creation乐队开场，那真是一次很棒的演出。

We were looking for a label and one of the ones we were very into was indeed massacre records because we knew them from great releases back in the days and you have to admit it’s also really a very fitting name to a band called amputate haha. And Phil from swiss death metal veterans Requiem who already was on that label with his band also helped us with the contact. I’m pretty sure that he was involved in massacre signing us, because he was really into our sound and tried pushing us. He also owns a club and does shows. He invited us to open up for Malevolent Creation which was really a great gig.

V: 你的logo设计很独特，这个logo是谁给你设计的，你的专辑图稿也很特别，尤其是今年的新专辑，这个图稿是谁给你设计的？

Your logo design is very unique, who designed this logo for you, and your album artwork is very special, especially this year's new album, who designed this artwork for you?

N: 这件艺术品是由dechristianize完成的，有一种非常棒的Old School氛围，非常适合我们，因为正如你所听到的，我们受到了佛罗里达80年代和90年代Death Metal场景的很大影响。我很久以前做的标志，想法就是看起来尽可能的原始血腥和野蛮哈哈。

The artwork was done by dechristianize and has a really great old school vibe which fits us perfectly because as you can hear we are very much influenced by the 80ies90ties death metal scene in florida. And the logo i did a long time ago and the idea was just to look as raw bloody and brutal as possible haha.

V: 首先，恭喜你今年发行了你的新专辑"Abysmal Ascent"，这也是你的第三张正式专辑，你是一支伟大的乐队，有着沉重的、残酷的音轨，精确的鼓点让我印象深刻，还有强大的声音，总之你是一支伟大的乐队！你觉得你的作品怎么样？新专辑和老专辑相比怎么样？

First of all, congratulations on the release of your new album ‘Abysmal Ascent’ this year, which is also your third official album, you are a great band, with heavy, brutal riffs, precise drumming that impresses me, and powerful vocals that are fantastic, in short, you are a great band! All in all you are a very good Death Metal band, what do you think of your work? How does the new album compare to the old one?

N: 我们都对新专辑感到非常兴奋和高兴。它有更多的音乐，因为它比之前的专辑更长。鼓声比技术更残酷，它不是一个概念专辑，所以歌词和歌曲代表自己。在吉他方面我们比上一张专辑有更多的独奏。制作更老派，我认为整个侵略性是可以听到的。吉他录制的非常原始和充满活力，直接在你的脸上，mesa boogie的声音。嗯，谢谢你的赞美，我们也很高兴我们的新专辑。此外来自我们的粉丝和媒体的反馈也非常棒，所以它实际上比这更好。

We are all very exited and happy with the new album. It has more music on it in the sense that it’s longer than the one before. The drumming is more brutal than technical and it is not a concept album so the lyrics and the songs stand for themselves. Guitarwise we have a bit more solos than on the last one. The production is more old school and i think the whole agression is hearable. The guitars were recorde really raw and energetic just straight in your face mesa boogie sound. Well thank you for the compliment and we are also really happy with our new album. Also the feedback from our fans and the media is awesome so it actually couldn’t be better than this.

V: 你们在2016年发行第二张正式专辑后，6年都没有发布任何新作品，直到2022年才发布最新单曲，是什么原因让你们等了这么久才发布新作品？

You guys didn't release anything new for 6 years after the release of your second official album in 2016, and you didn't release your latest single until 2022, what was the reason for how long it took for you not to release anything new?

N: 那是因为我有很多私人的事情要解决。我和我第一任妻子的婚姻走到了尽头，而且找到新的乐队成员也不是那么容易，因为正如前面提到的，在这个小国家里，Death Metal乐手并不多。

That was because i had a lot of stuff to solve privately. My marriage with my first wife went down the drain and also to find the new bandmembers wasnt that easy because as mentioned before there are just not so many death metal musicians around in this small country.

V: 除了发行新专辑外，你们在2024年还计划做些什么新事情？能向大家透露一些信息吗？

What are some new things you guys are working on in 2024 besides releasing a new album? Can you reveal some information to everyone?

N: 我们一如既往地在创作新作品，我们目前的主要问题是排练室。我们正在寻找一个离我们每个人都很近的工作室，在苏黎世，嗯，瑞士总的来说，很难找到一些负担得起的东西，所以目前这是我们的主要关注点，当然我们的成员也带来了他们其他乐队的作品。例如Tobi在南非与Kraanium进行了一些巡演，Tom刚刚与他的其他乐队Disparaged发行了一张专辑，我录制了一张Thrash Metal专辑与乐队Sadistic Intent合作，名为Seeds of Hate。

We’re working on new material as always and our major problem right now is the practice room. We’re looking for a room that is pretty close to everyone of us but in Zurich, well switzerland in general it is really hard to find something affordable so for now this is our major focus and of course our members bring out some stuff with their other bands. Tobi did some touring in south africa with Kraanium for example, Tom just released an album with his other band Disparaged and i recorded an thrash metal album with the band Sadistic intent called seeds of hate.

V: 你的乐队参加了一些音乐节，哪些给你留下了深刻印象，你能描述一下当时的氛围，2024年还有哪些音乐节邀请你参加？

Your band has played a few festivals, which ones have impressed you, can you describe the atmosphere and what other festivals have invited you to play in 2024?

N: 我们有几场非常棒的演出，但如果我必须提到一场特别的演出，那就是我们为Carcass乐队开场的那场演出。那是一场爆炸性的演出，我们做的最好的音乐节绝对是Meh Suff音乐节，它是瑞士最大的极端金属音乐节。我们演奏了一场精彩的演出，人们非常支持，气氛很棒，我们感受到了人群的能量，这简直不能再好了。所以那绝对是我们的现场亮点，我们希望在2025年有机会参加更多精彩的演出和音乐节。我们非常期待。

We had a couple of really great shows, but if i have to mention a special one it’s when we played as opener for carcass. That was a blast and the best festival we did was definitely the Meh Suff festival which is like the biggest extreme metal fest in switzerland. We played a great set and people were so supportive, the atmospherer was awesome, we felt the energy from the crowd and it just can’t get better than this. So that was definitely our live-hightlight and we hope that in 2025 we get the chance to play some more great shows and festivals. We’re really looking forward to that.

V: Amputate是一支很棒的乐队，我会一直支持并关注你们的乐队，希望通过这次采访让更多的中国歌迷关注、支持并了解你们的乐队，在采访的最后你们有什么话想对你们的中国歌迷说吗？

Amputate is a great band, I will always support and follow your band, and I hope that through this interview more Chinese fans will follow, support and get to know your band, is there anything you would like to say to your Chinese fans at the end of this interview?

N: 非常感谢你的支持，我们很荣幸能接受你的采访。我只能说我希望中国的金属乐队一天比一天多，也许有一天能在你的国家演出，那将是一个梦想成真。我知道有几个瑞士乐队已经做到了。有趣的事实我不确定你是否知道，有一个瑞士硬摇滚乐队叫中国，从80年代开始。如果你喜欢Hard Rock，那就去看看他们吧哈哈。感谢你邀请我们，希望你们喜欢我们的新专辑。Nuno的问候
