Today's interview is with Bloodhunter, a Melodic Death Metal band from Spain. Formed in 2008 by Dani Arcos, the band released their first demo “The First Insurrection” in 2013, after a difficult process, with beautiful melodies and great solos, the band quickly became one of the hottest bands in Spain. “In 2014 the band's first official album “Bloodhunter” was released on the Spanish label Suspiria Records, and it is still a great work. Hello Mr. Guillermo, it's nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview. You guys are no strangers to China, I know you've just finished playing in China, but I guess this is the first time you've been interviewed by a Chinese magazine, isn't it? First of all, a big hello to all the Chinese fans, Bloodhunter was formed in 2008 and is a band with a long history, who formed the band in the first place? Do you remember what it was like back then?

Hello and thank you so much for the warm welcome. It's definitely a pleasure to connect with Chinese metal fans through this interview. Yes, we've just wrapped up an incredible tour in China, and it’s been one of the most intense experiences we've had so far. And you're right—this is actually the first time we’ve been interviewed by a Chinese magazine, so it’s quite special for us. BLOODHUNTER was originally formed by Dani Arcos back in 2008. He had a very clear vision of creating a project rooted in extreme metal but with its own identity. I wasn’t part of the early days myself, but from what Dani always tells us, those were years of hard work, building the foundations step by step, and defining what would later become the band’s sound and philosophy.

You only have Dani Arcos left in the band as a first generation member, the rest of the band has changed, how did the first generation members quit the band? How did you guys get into the band?

Yes, Dani is the only founding member still in the band today. The lineup has naturally evolved over time—as it tends to happen in bands. The initial members left for different reasons, mostly due to personal commitments or changes in priorities. Nothing dramatic, just part of the journey. As for me and the rest of the current lineup, we joined BLOODHUNTER at different stages, but all of us came in because we genuinely believe in the music and the project. This lineup feels really solid and committed—we all share the same drive and musical vision, and that’s something you can feel in our live shows and studio work.

Each member of your band is an experienced musician in writing metal, can you describe your creative process? I'm sure your experience will inspire more young musicians!

Our creative process has evolved over time. Dani A. was the main songwriter during the band’s early years and up until our album "The End of Faith". Since then, both Dani and I have taken on the role of principal composers, sharing the creative direction of the band. Usually, we each work individually on a full draft of a song—structure, riffs, transitions, and overall flow. Once the core idea is solid, we bring it to the rest of the band, and each member adds their personal touch, refining and elevating the song together. This workflow keeps things efficient and allows for strong creative identity while still leaving room for collaboration and evolution. We believe this method helps us stay focused and consistent, while still pushing our sound forward with every release.

You formed in 2008 but your first release was only in 2013, why did you choose to release your work five years later?

That’s a good question. The gap between the band’s formation and the first release in 2013 was mainly due to the search for the right lineup and the refinement of the sound. Dani was working behind the scenes, shaping the project, composing, and defining what BLOODHUNTER was meant to be. When everything clicked and the right people joined the band, the music naturally flowed and the first demo was finally released. Sometimes you need that extra time to do things properly, especially when you care about quality and direction.

V: 你的专辑录制得很好，你是在哪个录音室录制的？哪位制作人制作了你的专辑？

The recording of your album is excellent, what studio did you record the album in? Which producer produced your album?

We’ve worked with different studios over the years, but we’ve always prioritized quality production. For “Knowledge Was the Price”, we worked with Carlos Santos at Sadman Studios, who also handled mixing. His work really took our sound to the next level—tight, powerful, and clear without losing the heaviness.

V: Darkness, Death, Mythology你的一些音乐主题，你和我为什么选择它们，你想通过它们表达什么？谁写歌词，是什么激励着他的灵感1？

Darkness, Death, Mythology are some of your musical themes, why did you and I choose them and what do you want to express through them? You also write the lyrics, who writes the lyrics and what inspires them?

Darkness, death, mythology—these are more than just lyrical themes for us. They’re a reflection of our worldview and the emotions we carry through life. These topics allow us to explore existential questions, personal struggles, and symbolic narratives that connect with people on a deeper level. Diva Satánica has written most of the lyrics throughout the band’s discography. Her lyrical work is intense, introspective, and full of metaphor. Inspiration comes from philosophy, psychology, literature, and real-life experiences. It’s not just shock value—it’s poetry through aggression.

Your band's logo is very simple, but this form of design is my personal favorite because I can easily remember your name, who designed this logo for you? Your album artwork is beautifully designed, who designed the album artwork for you?

We’re glad you like the logo! The idea behind it was simplicity and impact—something recognizable and timeless. The original logo was designed by Gustavo Sazes based on Dani's idea, and we’ve stuck with it because it still represents who we are. For the album artwork, we’ve had the pleasure of working with extremely talented artists like Gustavo Sazes, Antonio Sicre and others, who understand our music and translate it visually in stunning ways. We’re very picky with visuals—they must match the intensity of the sound.

You have released albums with labels such as Maldito Records, Xtreem Music, Suspiria Records, etc... These are all very good labels in your country, how did you get in touch with these labels to work with them? Are you satisfied with the work of these labels?

Each label we’ve worked with played a different role in different stages of our career. Suspiria Records, Xtreem Music, and Maldito Records helped us get our music out there and supported our growth in different ways, but mostly in Spain. We connected with them through mutual contacts in the scene and a shared passion for music Of course, every partnership has its ups and downs, but overall we’re grateful for the exposure and opportunities they brought us. Every step with these labels helped us get closer to where we are now.

First of all, congratulations on your band's latest release for 2022, unforgettable melodies, you first used drum software but then you searched for a real drummer, which makes your work sound more authentic, the female vocalist is definitely one of the best singers I've ever heard out of a lot of female singers, what do you think of your work? Any changes on the new album compared to the old one?

Thank you so much for the kind words! We’re really proud of what we achieved with “Knowledge Was the Price”. Just to clarify—we only used programmed drums on our first demo in 2013, as it was a starting point to showcase our music while we were still forming a full lineup. From then on, we’ve always worked with real drummers. Our current drummer, Adrián Perales, brought a whole new level of depth and intensity to our sound. His playing added more dynamics, precision, and energy to the songs, making the overall result feel much more alive and powerful This latest album reflects a clear evolution in our sound—it's more mature, more refined, and still keeps that raw edge that defines BLOODHUNTER. We pushed ourselves further both musically and emotionally, and we think it shows in every track.

V: 你去过很多其他国家的演出和巡演，你刚刚结束了在中国的巡演，我相信这给你留下了深刻的印象，中国的粉丝一定很热情，对吧？除了中国的节目，还有哪些节目给你们留下了深刻的印象，你能告诉我们这些节目的气氛吗？

You've been to a lot of shows and tours in other countries, and you've just finished a tour in China, which I'm sure impressed you, and the Chinese fans must have been very enthusiastic, right? Besides the China shows, what other shows impressed you guys, can you tell us about the atmosphere at those shows?

G: 中国之旅（这实际上是我们第二次去那里）简直令人难忘。人群的能量是疯狂的，热情好客是惊人的。看到世界另一端的人们唱你的歌，真是令人兴奋——这提醒你为什么要这样做。

The China tours (this was actually our second time there) were simply unforgettable. The energy from the crowd was insane, and the hospitality was amazing. It’s mind-blowing to see people singing your songs on the other side of the world—it reminds you why you do this in the first place. Other shows that stand out? Resurrection Fest in Spain was a huge milestone for us—not only because of its scale, but also because the band has its roots in Galicia, just like the festival. Each country has its own vibe, but when the energy clicks, it’s pure magic.

V: 2025年你的乐队有什么新的工作吗？比如写作、录制一些新材料，你能向人们透露一些信息吗？

Are there any new endeavors going on with your band in 2025? Like writing, recording some new material, can you reveal some information to people?

Yes, 2025 is going to be a very exciting year for us. We already have a brand new album fully recorded and ready to be released during the year, and we can't wait to share it with everyone. We’re really proud of how it sounds, and we believe it represents another big step forward for BLOODHUNTER. Also, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be touring in America for the first time, which is a huge milestone for us. And of course, we would absolutely love to return to China and play in even more cities—your energy and support were unforgettable, and we’re eager to experience it again.

You guys are a great band, I'll always support and follow you, and I hope to see you play again in China, is there anything you'd like to say to your Chinese fans in closing?
