之前采访过一些捷克的Grindcore乐队，今天采访到了一支捷克的Old School Death Metal乐队Taedifer，组建于2021年的Taedifer乐队是一支非常年轻的乐队，但是乐队的所有成员都是经验丰富的乐手，曾经参与过捷克多支乐队，比如Gutalax，Ingrowing，Jig Ai等乐队，2022年发行的第一张Demo就吸引了大量歌迷的关注，厚重的鼓点，快速，稳定，连续快速的Riff轰炸着每一位歌迷的耳膜，歌手凶狠的演唱也是整张专辑最大的亮点，如果你喜欢瑞典chool Death Metal的乐队，那么这支乐队你一定不要错过，2025年乐队在乌克兰的Archaic Sound厂牌发行了第一张正式专辑“Indivinus”，在新专辑发行之际杂志与乐队吉他手Rob和歌手Radek取得联系进行了一次专访！

Previously, we've interviewed several Czech grindcore bands. Today, we spoke with Taedifer, a Czech old-school death metal band formed in 2021. Though a very young group, all members are seasoned musicians who have played in numerous Czech bands such as Gutalax, Ingrowing, Jig Ai, among others. Their debut demo released in 2022 immediately captured significant fan attention. Heavy drumming, rapid, relentless, and continuous riff assaults bombard every listener's eardrums, while the singer's ferocious vocals stand as the album's most striking feature. If you appreciate Swedish-school Death Metal bands, this group is one you absolutely shouldn't miss. In 2025, the band released their debut full-length album “Indivinus” through Ukraine's Archaic Sound label. To mark the album's release, our magazine conducted an exclusive interview with guitarist Rob and vocalist Radek!

Hello brother, nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview. I think this is the first time your band has been interviewed by a Chinese magazine. First of all, let me say hello to all Chinese fans and friends. Taedifer was founded in 2021 and is a very young band. How did you form this band in the first place?

R: 大家好，我是Taedifer乐队吉他手Rob。向火山杂志的所有读者和乐迷致以诚挚问候。我们非常高兴能与诸位相遇，首次亮相于中文金属刊物实属荣幸。Taedifer乐队始于2021年，最初是Pepe与Mára共同创立的小型工作室项目——两人合作音乐生涯已近三十载。当时他们创作了五首歌曲，仅用吉他和鼓录制了简易Demo，每周聚会一次纯粹为音乐创作的快乐而创作。我们多数成员相识多年且居住邻近。某日Pepe问我是否愿意加入项目，我欣然应允——既然本就常相处，以团队形式尝试音乐创作显得顺理成章。我学习了这些曲目，添加了自己的吉他旋律线，时隔二十年竟又重拾吉他独奏，这对我而言是充满乐趣的挑战。随后我们需要贝斯手。首选是来自GUTALAX乐队的Kebab，他与我们同住一城，私交甚笃且常有往来，堪称完美人选。后来我们邀请了主唱Radek Popel。他来到排练室，立刻开始嘶吼，那一刻我们都明白乐队终于完整了。我们感激自己的音乐能传到远离家乡的小镇之外的金属乐迷耳中。感谢你们给予我们自我介绍的机会。

Hello, here is Rob a Taedifer guitarist. Warm greetings to all readers and fans of Volcano Magazine. We are very happy to join you, and it is an honor for us to appear in a Chinese metal publication for the first time. TAEDIFER began in 2021 as a small studio project created by Pepe and Mára, who have been playing music together for almost thirty years. They had five songs written and a simple demo recorded just with guitars and drums, meeting once a week and composing just for the joy of creating music. Most of us have known each other for many years and we all live close to each other. One day Pepe asked me if I would like to join the project. I agreed, we already spend a lot of time together, so it felt natural to try making music as a team. I learned the songs, added my own guitar lines, and after twenty years I even had to return to playing guitar solos again, which was a fun challenge for me. Then we needed a bass player. The first name was Kebab from band GUTALAX, he lives in the same town, we are close friends and meet often, so he was the perfect fit. Later we invited our vocalist, Radek Popel. He came to the rehearsal, started growling immediately, and at that moment we all knew the band was finally complete. We are grateful that our music is now reaching metal fans so far away from our small hometown. Thank you for giving us the chance to introduce ourselves.

V: 你们每位成员都是创作Death Metal的资深音乐人。能否介绍你们的创作过程？相信你们的创作经验能为更多年轻音乐人带来启发！

Each of your members is an experienced musician in creating death metal. Can you introduce your creative process? I believe your creative experience will bring inspiration to more young musicians!

R: 我们都演奏Death Metal多年，但创作过程却意外地简单。Pepe通常奠定歌曲基调，随后我们共同完善。我们创作音乐并非追求复杂或过度技巧，最重要的是氛围、能量与自然流畅的韵律。每位成员在乐队中都有专属定位：Pepe和Mára负责大部分吉他riff，我处理编曲并添加旋律线，Kebab构建低音律动，Radek则根据歌曲需求设计声乐结构并创作歌词。我们刻意规避冗余复杂性，更倾向于直截了当且聚焦核心的创作方式或许最大的优势在于我们是相知多年的挚友，彼此间能坦诚相待。正因如此，创作过程总是高效、自然且充满乐趣。若这能激励年轻音乐人，我想传达的是：不必过度纠结细节。保持协作精神，坚守真诚本色，并尊重Death Metal应有的灵魂本质。

All of us have been playing death metal for many years, but our creative process is surprisingly simple. Pepe usually creates the foundation of a song, and then we continue working on it together. We don’t write music to make it complicated or overly technical, what matters the most to us is atmosphere, energy, and a good, natural flow. Each member has his own space in the band: Pepe and Mara bring most of the riffs, I work on the arrangements and add melodic lines, Kebab builds the low-end and groove, and Radek creates the vocal structures and writes the lyrics based on what the song needs. We try to avoid unnecessary complexity, we prefer straightforward and focused songwriting. Maybe our biggest advantage is that we are long-time friends who can speak honestly with each other. Because of that, writing music feels fast, natural, and enjoyable. If this can inspire young musicians, then maybe it’s this: you don’t need to overthink everything. Work together, stay honest, and respect the feeling of what death metal should sound like.

V: 你们的录音作品非常出色。专辑是在哪家录音室完成的？由哪位制作人操刀？录制过程顺利吗？

Your works are excellent in terms of recording. Which studio did you record your album in? Which producer made the album for you? Did the recording process of the album go smoothly?

R: 专辑在捷克共和国的Hellsound录音室完成录制，由制作人Honza Kapak（曾担任Bohemyst、Master’s Hammer、Avenger等乐队制作人及成员）监制。混音与母带处理则由Lukas Haidinger在奥地利Deep Deep Pressure Studio完成。Lukas也曾混音我们2022年的Demo，我们对其工作极为满意——Hellsound同样如此。两间工作室在极端金属领域经验丰富，从一开始我们就深感托付得当。整个录制过程非常顺利，主要得益于我们身边聚集了众多理解这种音乐并懂得如何塑造其声音特质的优秀人士。对此我们深表感激。

The album was recorded in the Czech Republic at Hellsound Studio, under the supervision of producer Honza Kapak (producer and member of bands like Bohemyst, Master’s Hammer, Avenger…). After that, the mixing and mastering were done in Austria at Deep Deep Pressure Studio by Lukas Haidinger. Lukas also mixed our 2022 demo, and we were extremely satisfied with his work — the same goes for Hellsound. Both studios are very experienced in extreme metal, and we felt in good hands from the very beginning. The whole recording process went smoothly, mainly because we were surrounded by great people who understand this music and know how to shape its sound. We are truly grateful for that.

V: 你们音乐的主题是什么？为何选择这个音乐主题，又想通过它表达什么？你们还创作了歌词部分，这些歌词由谁创作？创作灵感来自哪里？

What is the theme of your music about? Why did you choose this music theme, and what do you want to express through this music theme? You also created the lyrics section. Who created these lyrics and what inspired them?

R: 接下来的两个问题主要面向Radek——他负责Taedifer的歌词创作与视觉设计，同时也是Taedifer标志的创作者……

P：这是Death Metal音乐，死亡如同粗绳贯穿所有歌曲主题。但并非如此简单，歌词核心传递的是人类彼此施加的恶行。仇恨、恐惧、冷漠与嫉妒构成主旋律。部分歌词描绘最黑暗的内心思绪撕裂灵魂，最终让最邪恶的力量掌控人类。

The next two questions are mainly for Radek, who is responsible for Taedifer’s lyrics and visual design, and who also created the Taedifer logo…

P: It's death metal music, so death is a thick rope all song themes are hung on. But it's not so simple, the main lyric message is about the evil deeds that one man is willing to cause to another man. So hate, fear, apathy and envy are playing the main notes. Some lyrics are about the blackest inner thoughts tearing the soul apart and causing the worst evils to take over the man.

V: 你们的Logo设计非常简洁，这种设计形式是我个人最喜欢的类型之一，因为它能让我轻松记住乐队名称。这个Logo是谁设计的？你们的专辑封面设计精美绝伦，是谁创作的？创作灵感来源于哪里？

Your logo design is very simple, and this design form is one of my personal favorites because I can easily remember the name of your band. Who designed this logo for you? Your album artwork is beautifully designed. Who designed this artwork for you and what inspired it?

P: 所有乐队设计皆出自本人之手。作为从业逾25年的专业平面设计师，我旗下所有过往及现役乐队都得服从我的设计指令:-) 身为主唱，我始终致力于最大化歌词的可读性与发音清晰度，因此在设计中——尤其是Logo设计——同样秉持这一理念。我致力于给乐迷留下最深刻的印象。可读性是记忆的基础，但核心在于情感冲击。若设计无法唤起共鸣，便毫无价值。专辑主视觉由我们的朋友阿明·施韦格创作——这位来自Distaste乐队（兼任多支乐队）的主唱兼吉他手，同时也是才华横溢的纹身艺术家和画家。灵感固然源自乐队名称与歌词主题，但作为真正的艺术家，阿明将内心世界融入创作，成就了这幅惊艳之作。

All the band designs are my work. I've been a professional graphic designer for more than 25 years, so all my previous and current bands are suffering under my design dictate :-) As a vocalist I always try to maximize the legibility of my vocal delivery and pronunciation of the lyrics I sing about. So in the design, especially for the logos it's the same. I'm trying to create the most impact on the fans. If you can read it, you can remember it. But the main point is the emotional strike. Every design is worthless, if it's not awakening some feeling about it. The main artwork for the album was drawn by our friend Armin Schweiger, vocalist and guitarist from Distaste (and many more), who is also a very talented tattoo artist and painter. Inspiration definitely came from the band name and the lyrical themes, but as a real artist, Armin put something from his inner self to create this amazing artwork.

V: 你们选择乌克兰厂牌发行专辑，而捷克国内也有许多优秀厂牌。为何不选择捷克厂牌发行？你们是如何与Archaic Sound建立联系并展开合作的？对他们的运作是否满意？

You have chosen a Ukrainian label to release your album, and there are also many excellent labels in the Czech Republic. Why don't you choose a Czech label to release your album? How did you establish contact and collaborate with Archaic Sound? Are you satisfied with their work?

R: 是的，我们的首张专辑由乌克兰厂牌Archaic Sound发行。并非我们不愿与捷克厂牌合作——我们曾联系过捷克多家厂牌，也接洽了全球众多厂牌。但多数厂牌发行计划已满，更常见的是根本无人回应。地下音乐圈有时就是如此。最终有三家厂牌回应，但我们选择Archaic Sound是因为合作感觉最自然。与Archaic Sound的尤里沟通非常顺畅。我们寄去专辑后，他欣赏乐队的音色和方向，且从一开始就展现出专业素养。他提供了公平的条件、清晰的沟通渠道，并对乐队表现出真诚的兴趣。对我们而言，这才是最重要的。而他与我们同为斯拉夫人，更让合作显得顺理成章。:-) 目前合作非常顺利。沟通高效直接，一切按计划推进。对我们这样的年轻乐队而言，拥有愿意投入时间精力推动专辑发行、并愿意与我们逐步推进的合作方至关重要。

Yes, our debut album is being released through the Ukrainian label Archaic Sound. It’s not that we didn’t want to work with a Czech label, we contacted several in the Czech Republic, as well as a large number of labels around the world. Many of them already had a full release schedule, and in most cases we simply didn’t receive a reply. That’s how things sometimes go in the underground scene. In the end, three labels responded to us, but we chose Archaic Sound because the cooperation felt the most natural. Our communication with Yurii from Archaic Sound started very quickly. We sent him our album, he liked the sound and the direction of the band, and from the very beginning he acted very professionally. He offered us fair conditions, clear communication, and genuine interest in the band. For us, that was the most important thing and the fact that he is also a Slav like us made the cooperation even more natural. :-) So far we are very satisfied. Communication is fast and straightforward, and everything is moving according to plan. For a young band like us, it’s important to have someone who puts time and energy into the release and is willing to work with us step by step.

V: 首先恭喜你们的乐队今年发行了首张正式专辑。你们深受瑞典Death Metal影响，兼具动人旋律、激进的Riff节奏、主唱浑厚有力的嗓音以及鼓手稳定的演奏。整体而言作品相当出色。你们如何评价自己的创作？

First of all, congratulations to your band for releasing their first official album this year. You have been deeply influenced by Swedish death metal, with beautiful melodies, aggressive Rfff, the singer's deep and powerful vocals, and the drummer's stable performance. Overall, your work is excellent. What is your opinion on your own work?

R: 非常感谢大家的祝贺与赞美。我们对专辑的最终成果感到满意。我们力求打造出充满能量、秉持纯粹Death Metal精神，同时融入旋律与氛围感的录音作品。诚然，我们是瑞典经典音色及整个瑞典死亡金属场景的忠实拥趸，这是我们成长过程中浸润其中的音乐，也是我们发自内心的热爱。我们不敢妄称创造了“完美之作”，但"Indivinus"确实完美诠释了我们的音乐本质。在这张专辑中，你们能清晰听见我们的音乐基因、独特声响，以及深耕Death Metal多年后对这种音乐的深刻理解。对我们而言，真实至关重要。这张专辑没有堆砌技巧，没有刻意雕琢，更不以繁复结构博取眼球。它纯粹是我们的音乐——直白、真诚、发自肺腑。若这张专辑能触达世界各地的乐迷，并与他们产生共鸣，便是我们最大的回报。

Thank you very much for the congratulations and for your kind words. We are happy with how the album turned out. We tried to create a recording with strong energy, an honest death metal spirit, and also a touch of melody and atmosphere. Yes, we are huge fans of the classic Swedish sound and the whole Swedish death metal scene, it is something we grew up with and truly love. We don’t want to claim that we created something “perfect”, but we feel that Indivinus represents us very well. You can clearly hear who we are, how we sound, and how we understand death metal after so many years in this music. For us, authenticity is the most important thing. The album is not overloaded with technique, not artificially polished, and it does not try to impress with unnecessary complexity. It is simply our music, straightforward, honest, and from the heart. And if the album can reach fans anywhere in the world and connect with them in some way, that is the greatest reward for us.

V: 自从你们从录音室乐队转型为常规乐队后，是否考虑过参加音乐节？

Have you ever planned to participate in a music festival since you went from a studio band to a regular band?

R: 是的，当然。当完整阵容组建完毕后，我们便清楚自己不会永远只是录音室乐队。虽然现场演出不算特别频繁，但我们从不拒绝优质邀约，每年通常会进行约十场演出。明年我们将亮相捷克最大的极端音乐节——Obscene Extreme Festival。此外还计划参与数场精彩演出与音乐节。我们非常期待在这些活动中现场演绎"Indivinus"专辑，与乐迷分享新歌。

Yes, of course. Once the full line-up was complete, it was clear to us that we wouldn’t stay a studio-only band. We are not extremely active in terms of live shows, but we don’t refuse good offers and we usually play around ten shows a year. Next year we will perform at the biggest extreme music festival in the Czech Republic — Obscene Extreme Festival. Besides that, we have several other interesting shows and festivals planned. We are really looking forward to performing Indivinus live and sharing the new songs with the fans at these events.

V: 新专辑发行后是否有新作品计划？能否和大家分享些信息？

Do you have any new work to do after the release of the new album? Can you share some information with everyone?

R: 目前我们主要专注于专辑宣传。即将发布歌曲"Skinless"的音乐录影带，正在筹备新周边商品，同时积极安排更多演出。工作量依然庞大，我们绝不会放慢脚步。

Right now we want to focus mainly on promoting the album. We will soon release a music video for the song Skinless, we are preparing new merchandise, and we are working on booking more shows. There is still plenty to do, so we definitely aren’t slowing down.

V: 你们是支非常优秀的乐队，我会一直关注并支持你们。也希望通过这次访谈让更多中国乐迷认识你们。访谈即将结束，最后想对中国的乐迷和朋友们说些什么吗？

You are a very excellent band, and I will always pay attention to and support your band. I also hope that through this interview, more Chinese fans can get to know you. The interview is coming to an end, do you have anything you want to say to Chinese fans and friends at the end?
