今天采访到的是来自塞浦路斯的Melodic Death Metal乐队Kaaper，组建于2024年的Kaaper乐队是一支非常年轻的乐队，但是乐队的四名成员分别来自俄罗斯和乌克兰两个国家，在组建不久之后乐队便发行了多达八首单曲，这些单曲发行之后乐队受到了来自俄罗斯的著名厂牌Satanath Records的关注并且签约了Kaaper乐队，在今年发行了他们的第一张正式专辑“While Flows the Nile”，在新专辑发行之际乐队的歌手Evgenii与杂志取得联系进行了一次专访！

Today we're interviewing Kaaper, a melodic death metal band from Cyprus. Formed in 2024, Kaaper is a very young band, yet its four members hail from both Russia and Ukraine. Shortly after their formation, the band released as many as eight singles. Following these releases, the band caught the attention of the renowned Russian label Satanath Records, which signed Kaaper. This year, they released their debut full-length album, “While Flows the Nile.” To mark the album's release, the band's vocalist Evgenii connected with our magazine for an exclusive interview!

V: 兄弟你好，很高兴见到你，非常感谢你参与这次采访。我想这是你们乐队首次接受中国杂志的专访。首先请允许我向所有中国乐迷和朋友们问好。Kaaper乐队成立于2024年，是一支非常年轻的乐队。你们最初是如何组建乐队的？虽然乐队成员来自俄罗斯和乌克兰，但为何选择塞浦路斯作为你们的国家？

Hello brother, nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview. I think this is the first time your band has been interviewed by a Chinese magazine. First of all, let me say hello to all Chinese fans and friends. Kaaper band was founded in 2024 and is a very young band. How did you form this band in the first place? You are a band formed in Russia and Ukraine, but why did you choose Cyprus as your own country?

E: 嘿兄弟！Evgenii在此！感谢大家的关注，从塞浦路斯向所有中国金属乐迷致以摇滚问候。没错，正如你们所知，我们组建乐队还不到两年。当时我给吉他手Timur发了条短信，内容大概是“老兄，想不想一起玩音乐”。我们之前见过面，知道彼此音乐品味相投。就是这么简单。当时我已在塞浦路斯生活五年有余，而Timur是从乌克兰迁居至此的——就在乌克兰战争爆发前几个月。后来我们又邀请好友Alex和Igor加入，乐队就此成型。没错，我们原籍俄罗斯和乌克兰，但如今以塞浦路斯为家，乐队也在此诞生——所以我们属于塞浦路斯。

Hey bro! Evgenii is here! Thank you for your interest and horns up from Cyprus to all the Chinese metalheads. Well, yes, as you already know, we formed the band less than two years ago. I texted Timur, our guitarist, something like “Hey man, would you like to play some music”. We met before and I knew that we have mutual music taste. So yeah, it was that simple. I had been living in Cyprus for more than 5 years by the time, Timur moved from Ukraine to Cyprus several months before the war in Ukraine started, we also invited our friends Alex and Igor to join us as well and the band was formed. So, yes, we’re originally from Russia and Ukraine, but as we live in Cyprus, call this island home, and formed the band here - we’re from Cyprus.

All members of your band are first generation members. I think it will be more convenient to create songs this way because you are very familiar with each other. Can you introduce your creative process?

E: 没错，正是如此！这真的很酷，因为所有成员都参与作曲，所以我们已经开始录制第二张专辑了。最初我们和Timur见面录制Riff，后来决定分头创作。我们各自录制素材发到乐队群聊，讨论哪些部分需要打磨、该添加或删减内容。Demo版完成后，我们会合奏并加入强调点和各种有趣元素。很简单吧？

Yes, exactly! That’s really cool as all the members write music, this is why we are already recording our second album. In the beginning we were meeting with Timur to record riffs, then we decided to work separately. So we just record something and send to the band chat, discussing which parts require more work, what we should add or, on the contrary, remove. Once a demo is ready we play it together adding accents and different interesting things. Pretty simple, isn’t it?

V: 你们乐队的专辑录制效果太棒了。是在哪家录音室完成的？哪位制作人操刀了这张专辑？新专辑的录制进展顺利吗？

Your band's album recording is excellent. Which studio did you record the album in? Which producer made the album for you? Is the recording process of the new album progressing smoothly?

E: 我们秉持DIY精神。嘿，我们可是生活在21世纪。家家户户都有电脑和音频接口，装几个插件就能搞定！所以我们在家录制Demo，再在家重新录制各自的声部——这次要清晰地呈现之前添加的装饰音。然后把所有素材发给我们的“第五位成员”Max Baryshnikov，由他负责混音并时不时加入他所谓的“制作人UFO”——那些你能在各处听到的独特音效设计，比如铁砧敲击声、脚步声、各种轰鸣爆裂声。我超爱Max每次施展魔法的魔力，简直像在说“喂老兄，我给你的是原生态垃圾，你却把它变成杰作”

We follow DIY philosophy. Come on, we live in the 21st century. Everyone has a PC and an audio interface at home. Several plugins and you’re good to go! So we record demos at home then re-record our parts at home again, but clearly and with accents we added before, then we send all the stuff to our “fifth member” Max Baryshnikov, he mixes it and from time to time adds, as he calls it, “producer’s UFO” - different sound design you can hear here and there. Like anvil hits, steps, different booms be bangs. I love how Max makes his magic every time, it’s like “Come on, man, I sent you just raw piece of shit and you made a masterpiece”

V: 你们乐队的Logo非常简洁，但这种设计形式正是我个人最喜欢的，因为它让我能轻松记住乐队名称。这个Logo是谁设计的？你们的专辑封面设计也很精美，这些封面作品又是谁创作的？

Your band's logo design is very simple, but this design form is my personal favorite because I can easily remember your band's name. Who designed this logo for you? Your album artwork design is also very beautiful. Who designed these album artworks for you?

E: 最初的Logo是我设计的。我和Timur决定采用简约且略带不对称的设计，后来我们的鼓手Alex——顺带一提，他是个很酷的专业视觉特效设计师——为Logo添加了刮痕和裂纹，使其更具“生命力”。至于艺术作品则完全是另一回事。其中大部分由人工智能生成，背后有其原因。与真实艺术家合作实在困难重重。耗时巨大，有时设计师还特别难搞，所以我们觉得既然自己做不好，又不得不外包，不如顺应潮流让现代科技帮我们分担些工作。不过新单曲“Amenhotep”的封面完全由我们美丽的朋友Fanny Zsofia David手工绘制。

Initially, the logo is my work. Timur and I decided to make it simple and a bit asymmetrical then our drummer Alex, who is by the way a cool professional visual effect designer added some scratches and cracks for the logo to look more “alive”. Completely other story with the artworks. The majority of them are generated by AI, and there is a reason behind it. It’s really difficult to work with real artists. It takes a lot of time, and sometimes designers are huge pain in the ass, so we decided if we can’t do it properly by ourselves and anyway we’re forced to send it to “outsource”, let’s be contemporary and let the modern technologies do some work for us. But the cover for our new single entitled Amenhotep is fully human-made by our beautiful friend Fanny Zsofia David

V: 你们乐队与Satanath Records合作发行了首张正式专辑。你是如何与这家厂牌建立合作关系的？对该厂牌的工作是否满意？

Your band collaborated with Satanath Records to release their first official album. How did you get in touch with this label to collaborate? Are you satisfied with the job at this brand?

E: 这段合作关系背后承载着近十五年的历史。2013年初我首次与Satanath Records合作，以旧乐队“Enclave of Dreams”（俄语：Анклав Снов）之名发行首张专辑。当时我们是支新生乐队，Satanath Records也是初创厂牌，双方契机自然而然地契合。如今Ka'aper仍是年轻乐队，而Satanath Records已成长为发行过Burzum、Bloodbath、Cannibal Corpse等重量级乐队的知名厂牌，我们再度携手合作。厂牌老板Alex是个温柔善良的人。制作CD过程中我们遇到些困难，但纯属意外——专辑发行半年后我们才收到自己那批CD。重申一次：这并非厂牌过错，而是CD印刷厂的失误。

There’s an almost 15 years history behind this relationship. First time I worked with Satanath Records in the beginning of 2013, releasing my first album with my former band called Enclave of Dreams (Анклав Снов in Russian), we were a very young band, Satanath Records was a very young label so the match happened. Now Ka’aper is a very young band, Satanath Records is a big label released such names as Burzum, Bloodbath, Cannibal Corpse and others and we’re working together again. Alex, the label boss, is a sweet and kind guy. We experienced some difficulties during the process of making CDs, but it was an accident - we received our part of run 6 months after the release. I’ll repeat it was not a label fault, it was a fault of the factory printing the run of CDs.

V: 你们参加过哪些音乐节？哪些音乐节给你们留下深刻印象？能否描述当时的现场氛围？2026年还有哪些演出计划？

Which music festivals have you participated in, and which ones have left a deep impression on you? Can you introduce the live atmosphere at that time? What other performances are you planning to participate in in 2026?

E: 今年我们在塞浦路斯、埃及、塞尔维亚、亚美尼亚、格鲁吉亚和摩尔多瓦完成了约20场演出。未来数月还有阿联酋、波兰、德国以及塞浦路斯的演出计划。说实话，我无法选出最喜欢的演出——我们纯粹热爱现场表演，每次登台都充满喜悦。

During this year we’ve played about 20 shows in Cyprus, Egypt, Serbia, Armenia, Georgia and Moldova. There are many shows planned for the next couple of months in UAE, Poland, Germany and, of course, in Cyprus. To be honest, I can’t say which one was my favourite performance. We just love to play live and do it with great pleasure.

V: 2026年乐队有何新作计划？例如创作或录制新作品时，能否与大家分享些信息？

What new work does your band have to do in 2026? For example, when creating or recording new works, can you share some information with everyone?

E: 诚然，"While Flows the Nile"的创作令我们无比欣喜，但此刻筹备的新作更让我们振奋不已。即将问世的专辑"Gods Walked The Eart"已接近尾声，我们迫不及待想让全球金属乐迷聆听。这只是新篇章的开启——音乐本质未变，依然延续首专中暗黑旋律金属的风格，但对我而言，新作品更具张力、更阴郁也更狂暴。

Well, we’re tremendously happy with the work we’ve done with While Flows The Nile, but even more we’re happy with what we’re preparing right now. The work with our upcoming album When Gods Walked The Earth is coming to an end, and we can’t wait for metal fans around the globe to hear it. It’s just the next chapter, the music itself hasn’t been changed - it’s still the dark and melodic metal you can hear on our debut album, but as for me it became more interesting, darker and really fierce.

V: 能否介绍塞浦路斯的金属乐场景？许多中国乐迷对此国金属圈并不熟悉。可推荐当地乐队吗？

Can you introduce the metal scene in Cyprus? Many Chinese fans are not very familiar with the metal scenes in this country. Can you recommend some bands from this country?

E: 这真是个好问题！七年前我移居塞浦路斯时，以为这里根本没有金属乐场景。直到疫情期间，2022年Rotting Christ乐队来此演出，我才去现场观摩。两支暖场乐队——Bloodbrawl与Vomitile——简直是惊艳！天啊，这两支乐队表现丝毫不逊于Rotting Christ，真的！我深受震撼！Vomitile后来成了我们的好朋友，我们时常一起演出。可惜Bloodbrawl目前处于休眠状态，但塞浦路斯还有许多出色乐队！我列举几支代表：Stormcast——绝妙的旋律金属；Vomitile——纯正死亡金属的典范；4377——两位顶尖音乐人的合作项目，他们简直是音乐界的百级精灵； Being of Entropy——若不想被震得面部融化请勿聆听；Frozen Winds——优质Black Metal典范，他们不抄袭，创作旋律优美的佳作；若想感受塞浦路斯风情——Uncle Philth与Zivanished

That’s a great question! When I moved to Cyprus 7 years ago I thought there was no metal scene here at all. Then Covid happened and only in 2022 Rotting Christ came to Cyprus and I went to the gig. There were two supporting bands - Bloodbrawl and Vomitile. That was a revelation! Shit, both bands sounded no worse than Rotting Christ, really! I was so impressed! Vomitile became our good friends and we play shows together from time to time. Bloodbrawl is inactive at the moment unfortunately, but there are many amazing bands here, I’ll name several but there are many more! Stormcast - amazing melodic metal, Vomitile - true death metal like it should sound, 4377 - a project of two amazing musicians, they are fucking 100th level elves in music, Being of Entropy - if you don’t want your face to be melted don’t listen to it, Frozen Winds - a great example of good black metal, they don’t copy, they make good and very melodic music, if you want to listen to something with Cypriot vibes - Uncle Philth and Zivanished

V: 你们的乐队刚刚发行了首张专辑，这是一张旋律优美又充满力量的作品。精彩的吉他即兴演奏和独奏给我留下了深刻印象，主唱那充满爆发力的演唱更是整张专辑的最大亮点。虽然你们是支非常年轻的乐队，但潜力十足。我会一直关注并支持你们的乐队。我也希望通过这次访谈让更多中国乐迷认识你们。最后想对中文区乐迷说些什么吗？

Your band has just released their first album, which is a melodious and fierce work. The wonderful Riff and solo performances left a deep impression on me, and the singer's fierce and vicious singing is also the biggest highlight of the entire aAlthough you are a very young band, you are a very promising band. I will always pay attention to and support your band. I also hope to let more Chinese fans know about your band through this interview. But do you have anything you want to say to Chinese fans at the end of the interview?lbum. What is your opinion on your own work?

E: 兄弟，重金属音乐能让全世界的人团结在一起，这让我太开心了。从中国到拉丁美洲，从俄罗斯最寒冷的地方到非洲最炎热的角落，从大都市到最偏僻的小村庄。我们也不例外——看看我们吧，来自俄罗斯和乌克兰，两国正处于该死的战争状态。但你们知道吗？去他妈的那些让民众互相残杀的政治家！去他妈的仇恨！所以亲爱的中国乐迷们，尽情聆听你们最爱的重金属音乐，借它宣泄愤懑，但永远保持人性——我们都是手足，同属人类。保持金属精神，兄弟们！我们衷心期盼能造访你们美丽的国度，用音乐熔化你们的脸庞——当然更想在舞台前见到你们的身影。我们始终敞开大门迎接中国演出机会，若有合作意向，欢迎通过Instagram或Facebook联系我们。

Man, I’m so happy that heavy music unites people all around the world. From China to Latin America, from the coldest places in Russia to the hottest spots of Africa, from huge cities to the smallest villages. Fuck all the politicians who make people shot each other. Fuck all the hatred!
