今天采访到的是来自德国的Speed / Thrash Metal乐队Teeth of Lamb，组建于2016年的Teeth of Lamb乐队，今年已经是他们组建的第十个年头了，作为一支作为十年历史里的老牌乐队，最初乐队的创始人Wolf J在一支名为Striker的乐队担任吉他手，同时他还想组建一支Thrash Metal风格的纯乐器乐队，于是Teeth of Lamb乐队成立，成立之后他们发行了多张优秀作品，快速，复杂的编曲，一些Thrash Metal的整齐Riff，刚劲有力，他们的两张专辑也是深受很多歌迷的喜爱，同时也参加了很多优秀的音乐节和一些优秀的乐队同台演出，也迅速成为了德国炙手可热的乐队之一，今年乐队发行了他们的第二张正式专辑“Deathward”，在新专辑发行之际，杂志与乐队的吉他 / 歌手Wolf J取得联系进行了一次专访！

The band we interviewed today is the Speed/Thrash Metal band, Teen of Lamb, from Germany. Founded in 2016, Teen of Lamb is now in their tenth year of formation. As an established band in their ten-year history, Wolf J, the founder of the band, initially played guitar in a band called Striker. He also wanted to form a pure instrument band in Thrash Metal style. As a result, Teen of Lamb was formed and has released multiple excellent works since then, including fast and complex arrangements, some neat Riff of Thrash Metal, and more, Strong and powerful, their two albums are also deeply loved by many fans. They have also participated in many excellent music festivals and performed with some outstanding bands, quickly becoming one of the hottest bands in Germany. This year, the band released their second official album "Deathward". On the occasion of the release of the new album, the magazine contacted the band's guitar/singer Wolf J for an exclusive interview!

Hello brother, nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview. I think this is the first time your band has been interviewed by a Chinese magazine. First of all, I would like to say hello to all Chinese fans and friends. Teeth of Lamb was founded in 2016, and this year is also the tenth anniversary of your band's founding. How did you form this band in the first place?

W: 大家好并向所有中国粉丝致以诚挚的问候。实际上，这是我首次接受一家中文杂志的采访。这真是一项莫大的荣誉，我对此深感感激。我于2016年创作了第一批歌曲，但当时并未打算组建一支像如今这样的乐队。那时我担任Striker （德国）乐队的吉他手，同时萌生了策划一个Thrash Metal器乐项目的主意，该项目独立于我的主乐队之外。然而很快我便意识到，加入人声元素将能使其达到最佳效果。不久后，我的一个朋友Storm Crusher是音乐节的活动策划人，邀请我在他的某场活动中演出。但当时我根本没有任何乐队。于是我向之前合作过的几位音乐家征询了意见，他们表示有兴趣参与。随后我们录制了一张包含四首歌曲的EP并于2018年1月首次登台演出。自那以来，我们已举办了超过70场演出。

Hello and a big shout out to all the Chinese fans. Actually this is the very first time I am doing an interview for a Chines mag. This is a really big honor and I totally appreciate this.

I wrote the first songs in 2016 but it was not meant be a band like it is today. Back then I was guitar player in Striker ( GER ) and I had the idea of a Thrash Metal instrumental project besides my main band. But it quickly became clear that vocals would perfectly fit to it. Short after that a friend of mine who is the booker at Storm Crusher Festival asked me to play at one of his events. But at that time I had no band at all. So I asked a couple of musicians I worked with before if they would be interested, recorded a four-track EP and did the first shows in January 2018. Since then we have been playing more than seventy shows.

The band now only has one first generation member, Wolf J, and all other members have been replaced. Why did the first generation member leave the band? How did the new members join the band and are you satisfied with their work?

Yes, that´s true. But I think that´s due to the fakt that the very first line-up has to be found in pretty much short time to be able to perform live, doing just a couple of rehearsals. Piepsi Panic, our bass player, has been with us almost from the beginning, as he was already as sub in the band before officially joining in 2019. I was also in good contact with our resent drummer Chris for quite some time before that, and he joined the band in 2022. Ramy Ali, who filled in 2020 for the very first Drummer Clause, simply couldn't stay longer with us due to other band commitments as he is permanent member in Freedom Call and Justice. Finding a second guitarist has always been difficult as firstly, most people simply underestimate the complexity and difficulty of the songs, and secondly, the commitment one has to invest in a band to make progress. We have been a three-piece now for more than a year. However, we are currently more than satisfied with the situation. Eache of the band members now fit perfectly into the band.

V: 你能否介绍一下创作过程？Wolf J是否现在是主要的创意来源？还是你们所有成员都共同参与了创作？新成员为乐队带来了哪些新的创作灵感？

Can you introduce your creative process? Is Wolf J the main source of creativity now? Or are all of you members involved in the creation together? What new creative inspirations did the new member bring to the band?

I am writing all the songs and am able to play all the instruments. However, I only produce the drums in a rudimentary way. Chris always knows very well how the drums I envision should sound. He is an excellent drummer and brought blast beats and all this heavy stuff into the arrangements. We are brothers in mind when it comes to drum grooves. Piepsi on the bass loves to have a clear concept. So I write the bass lines that he knows how to execute perfectly. So everyone is involved in songwriting in his own way. But when it comes to the lyrics I do it all alone cause there is always a clear vision of how the story has to be told. By the way, when we recorded the Deathward album we did something for us completely new. As it came to the drum sessions, which is always done first, Chris only knew four of the eleven songs we recorded for the preproduction. That was a really great and creative process.

Your band's works have excellent recording effects. Which studio did you record your album in? Which producer made the album for you? Is the recording process of the new album progressing smoothly?

Thanks a lot. We actually did all the recordings in our own Studio by ourselfes. Contrary to the general trend we recorded real drums, real amps and cabinets. No digital instruments or keyboards were used. Although this means much more work, it is one of the most important factors for us to stand out from the crowd. Thanks to cheap and free plugins, everything sounds equally terrible these days. That´s not our goal. Only mix and master was done again by Torsten Sauerbrey at Metalsound Studio as on its predecessor Soul Gutter. Torsten knows pretty much exactly how Teeth Of Lamb should sound in a mix. Therefore, cooperation is always quite easy.

V: 你们的乐队是如何与Kernkftritter Records唱片公司建立联系并进行合作的？该唱片公司正是你们乐队一直发行专辑的合作方。对于与这一品牌的合作，你们感到满意吗？

How did your band get in touch and collaborate with Kernkftritter Records, a label that your band has been releasing albums with? Are you satisfied with the job at this brand?

W: 最初的接触发生在Kernkraftritter Records的老板Kay，与地下乐队合作制作一张合辑之时。他向我们提供了参与其中的机遇。这样一来，日后KKR推出新作品的根基就此奠定。如果我的记忆无误的话，这发生在2018 年。到了 2020 年，Soul Gutter 的录制工作终于完成。我向凯询问他是否会发行这张专辑，他给予了肯定的答复。凯是业内的一位佼佼者，总是有着不凡的创意，并且对旗下艺人们抱有开放的心态。但这也同样是一种相互的付出与回馈。我由衷地感激 KKR 发行了 Deathward 的专辑。

The first contact was when Kay, the Boss of Kernkraftritter Records made a Sampler with underground bands. He offered us the chance to be part of it. So the foundations for a later release at KKR was done. This was in 2018 if my remeberance is correct. As in 2020 the recordings for Soul Gutter were finally done I asked Kay if he would release the album and he said yes. Kay is one the good ones in the business, has always great ideas and two open ears for his artists. But here too, it's a give and take and I am really greatfull KKR released the Deathward album.

V: 你们乐队的音乐主题是什么？你们为何选择这一音乐主题？希望通过这一音乐主题表达何种情感？你们还创作了歌词部分。这些歌词是由谁创作的，灵感又源自何处？

What is the theme of your band's music? Why did you choose this music theme? What do you want to express through this music theme? You also created the lyrics section. Who created these lyrics and what inspired them?

W: 我们的音乐不属于任何类别，而类型思维也完全不是我们创作音乐的方式。但就我们的新专辑"Deathward"而言，它完全关乎各种形式的死亡。从骇人听闻和残酷到怪异，应有尽有。死亡从一开始就是生命的一部分，这是无法回避的。所有歌词都是我自己写的，因为最终一切都要汇聚在一起，形成一个连贯的整体。"Hellhounds"是关于战争罪犯的；"This Rope Is Not Mine"则讲述的是侥幸逃脱死亡的经历。“Beerholder”讲述了死神本人的故事，他无聊至极，日复一日做着同样的事情：带来死亡。专辑同名曲“ Deathward”背后的故事是一起针对儿童的真正犯罪事件。“One Last Kiss”涉及中世纪女巫烧死期间的谴责行为，“Othrogoth”则讲述人类对濒死自然的无知，从一个毫无防御能力、深受影响的树木的视角出发。整张专辑以古代埃及神话人物Maith收尾，他在你死后会衡量你的生命，将其置于天平之上。

Our music doesn't fit into any category, and genre thinking isn't our way of making music at all. But as far as our new album Deathward is concerned, it's all about death in its various forms. From gruesome and brutal to bizarre, it's all there. Death has been a part of life from the very beginning, and there is no way around it. I write all the lyrics myself, because ultimately everything has to come together to form a coherent whole. Hellhounds is about war criminals, and This Rope Is Not Mine is about narrowly escaping death. Beerholder tells the story of Death himself, bored out of his mind, doing the same thing day in and day out: bringing death. The story behind the title track, Deathward, is a true crime against children. One Last Kiss deals with denunciation during the witch burnings of the Middle Ages, and Othrogoth is about humanity's ignorance of dying nature, seen from the perspective of a defenseless, affected tree. Everything then ends in the song Maith, an ancient Egyptian mythical figure who weighs your life in the balance after your death.

V: 在2020年发行了首张专辑后，你们的乐队直到今年才发布了新的作品（即第二张正式专辑）。为什么你们花了这么多年才推出新专辑呢？

After releasing their first album in 2020, your band has not released any new works until this year when they released their second official album. What is the reason why it took you many years to release a new album?

W: 造成这一情况的原因有几点。首先，我们几乎一直都在外出巡演。几乎没有太多时间留在录音室里创作新作品，因为我们自己负责所有的演出安排，而且我们每个人都还有正式工作。尽管我们实际上已经在2022年录制了第一版演示录音。其次，从2019年到2025年，我们一直面临着频繁更换第二吉他手的问题。由于我们去年初决定只保留一名吉他手，情况已经大大改善。不仅在这一点上有所进步，我们的乐队整体也取得了显著的成长。

There are several reasons for this. For one thing, we were practically always on the road. There wasn't much time left to hammer out new material in the studio, since we were handling all the booking ourselves and all of us have got regular jobs. Although we had actually already made our very first demo recordings in 2022. Secondly, from 2019 to 2025 we had the problem of constantly changing second guitarists. Since we decided at the beginning of last year to continue with just one guitar, a lot has improved for the better. Not only in that respect, but we've also grown significantly as a band.

V: 首先，祝贺你们的乐队今年刚刚发布了他们的最新专辑。这是你们在六年之后推出的最新作品。你们的乐队对技术、复杂的编排、复古的节奏以及整体速度都非常讲究。歌手的歌声非常有力，极具穿透力，而鼓手快速且精准的击打给我留下了深刻的印象。你对你们的作品有何看法？新专辑与旧专辑之间有哪些变化？

First of all, congratulations to your band for just releasing their latest album this year. This is your latest work after six years. Your band is very particular about technique, complex arrangement, retro rhythm, and overall speed. The singer's powerful singing is very penetrating, and the drummer's fast and precise hitting really left a deep impression on me. What is your opinion on your work? What are the changes between the new album and the old album?

W: 非常感谢！听到这样的话总是令人感到非常愉快。实际上，我们自己对最终结果也非常满意。虽然达到这一成果付出了大量的艰苦努力，当然也存在进展缓慢的阶段。从一开始，我们就清楚这张专辑应该具有怎样的声音风格，但通往这一目标的路径并不总是显而易见的，我花了一些时间才弄清楚在每个阶段应该采取怎样的方向。"Soul Gutter"与"Deathward"之间最大的区别显然源于环境的变化。这既体现在音乐家个人生活的变化上，也体现在乐队阵容本身的变化上。"Soul Gutter"专辑在录制完成时，我们的鼓手和吉他手都决定离开乐队。因此，我不得不自己重新录制所有的鼓声和第二把吉他声。而在"Deathward"中，情况则完全不同。鼓声早在2024年就由克里斯Chris定稿，由于当时我们没有太多的现场演出，所以我们从2025年3月一直工作到10月才完成了其余部分的制作。而且我对这张专辑的音效有着明确的构想。

Thank you so much, that's always nice to hear. We're actually very happy with the result ourselves. It was a lot of hard work getting there, though, and of course there were phases where progress was slow. From the beginning, it was clear what kind of sound the album should have, but the path there wasn't always obvious, and it took me some time to figure out which direction to take at each stage. The biggest difference between Soul Gutter and Deathward certainly stems from the changed circumstances. Both in the musicians' personal lives and in the band's lineup itself. The Soul Gutter album was already completely recorded when both our drummer and guitarist decided to leave the band. So I re-recorded all the drums and the second guitar by myselfes. With Deathward, it was completely different. The drums were already nailed by Chris in 2024 and as we had less live performances at that time we did all the rest from March till October 2025 . And I had a clear vision of how the album should sound.

V: 作为一支优秀的乐队，你们参加过哪些音乐节？哪些音乐节给你们留下了深刻的印象？你能介绍一下当时现场的氛围吗？你们的乐队在2026年有哪些新的演出计划？

As an excellent band, which music festivals have you participated in? What music festivals have left a deep impression on you, and can you introduce the live atmosphere at that time? What new performance plans does your band have for 2026?

W: 我们还没有参加过任何大型音乐节，我认为如果没有大型唱片公司支持，甚至很难有机会参加这些音乐节。当然我们已经参加过许多小型、地方性的音乐节。捷克共和国的音乐节总是非常有趣，那里的氛围比德国要简单和轻松得多。但那里的乐队总是非常出色，我们总是能结识一些很棒的新朋友。那里的粉丝也比这里更加热情。2026年，我们将进行首次在波兰的小型巡演，第一部分将在复活节期间举行，第二部分则在11月。此外我们还安排了几场小型音乐节以及前往邻国捷克的旅行。我们已经为2027年制定了计划（虽然还不太具体），我们将前往巴尔干地区。

We haven't played any really big festivals yet, and I think it's difficult to even get in without a major label behind you. Of course, we've played plenty of smaller, local festivals. Festivals in the Czech Republic are always a lot of fun. Things are much simpler and more relaxed there than in Germany. But the bands there are always fantastic, and we always make some great new contacts. The fans there are also much more enthusiastic than here. In 2026, we'll be doing our first small tour over Poland, with the first part around Easter and the second part in November. Several small festivals are also on the schedule, as well as some trips to neighboring Czechia. We already have plans for 2027, not concrete yet, but we'll be heading to the Balkans.

You are an excellent band, and I will always pay attention to and support your band. I also hope to attract more Chinese fans to pay attention to and support your band through this interview. W: 首先我们想说，能够被刊登在一本中国杂志上对我们而言是一种极其巨大的荣誉。我们非常高兴有那么多人都喜欢我们的音乐，如果能在不久的将来与我们的中国粉丝建立联系，那将是非常美妙的事情。随时可以与我们取得联系。我们爱你们所有人。保持“金属”精神！
