Imperial Crystalline Entombment is an American black metal band founded in 2003. The band members claim to have been guided by Råvaskeith, spreading ice and coldness across the earth, and they strictly follow Råvaskeith's will until ice spreads throughout the entire planet. In 2004, after the band released their first album, the members fell into a deep sleep. It wasn't until 2020 that the band felt Råvaskeith's call and returned, and in 2025, they released their latest album, "Abominable Astral Summoning". This time, we have invited the band members for an interview.

Hello ICE, thank you for accepting this interview. This should be your first time engaging with the Chinese audience, right? Before we start, could you briefly introduce yourselves to Chinese music fans? And how is the band developing currently?

I: WE ARE FUCKING I.C.E.！是万物诞生前‘反创世之主’的冻结左臂——凌驾于存在本身的绝对寒颤！Råvaskeith至尊的酷寒暴政由吾等践行。帝国即是宇宙虚空的军团，帝国是流淌于我们冰脉中的星灵流体，帝国将是即将降临的炫目新秩序的统治者...... 同样，水晶化是Råvaskeith凡人仆从与奴隶的统一之心，水晶化是盘踞在冰冷宇宙超新星背后的古老蠕动灵魂。水晶化与帝国化——这股浩瀚力量将以可憎的冰封之握蹂躏并封存这颗微渺星球，在冰雹与暴雪的永恒风暴中湮灭万物生机。我们是Imperial Crystalline Entombment。其名已道尽一切，但除非你目睹无尽飞雪覆盖你绷紧扭曲的面容时，在恐惧与痛苦中痉挛抽搐，否则你永远无法理解这名称及其深意。唯有那时，你方能领悟Imperial Crystalline Entombment的真谛。

We are fucking I.C.E.! We are the frozen left hand of the anti-lord of all creation that came before all that is. We are the force and power behind this seething frozen hate regime of the almighty Råvaskieth. Imperial is the army of cosmic emptiness, Imperial is each spirit of astral fluid within our icy veins, Imperial will be the reign of the blinding new order that is to come....likewise, Crystalline is the unified heart of Råvakeith's mortal servants and slaves alike, Crystalline is the writhing soul of the ancient, waiting behind the vast supernovas' of cold space, Crystalline, and Imperial this mighty force will ravage and entomb this tiny planet within it's abominable frozen grasp, destroying all life in a hailstorm of ice and snow forevermore. We are IMPERIAL CRYSTALLINE ENTOMBMENT. The name says it all, but you will not be able to comprehend this or it's meanings until you are convulsing in terror and pain as you see the endless snow falling over your strained and wincing face. Then and only then will you know the meaning of this Imperial Crystalline Entombment.

V: ICE最初成立于2003年，但仅一年后就解散了。当时解散的原因是什么？是什么机会让你们在2020年重聚？

ICE was initially formed in 2003, but disbanded only a year later. What was the reason for the disbandment back then? And what opportunity led to your reunion in 2020?

I: 2003年，我们在地球传播绝望的冰封灭绝预言多年后，感受到Råvaskeith的本能召唤，将肉身回归冬眠状态，同时将星体能量转移至遥远星球及四个平行实体中，以异形之躯将冰冷的白死继续播撒于星际。下方忠实凡仆反复的哀嚎尖叫，开启了远古之门，再度唤醒冰封军团统治大地。我们奉命从坟墓中苏醒，将以无尽冰雪覆盖你们所知的一切生命。我们来去皆凭伟大古老的Råvaskeith意志。

After years of spreading the message of hopeless frozen extinction upon the earth in 2003, we felt the instinctual call of Råvaskeith to return our bodies to a hibernative state, while our astral energies were displaced onto other distant planets and within four alternate entities, spreading the cold white death further amongst the stars in our alternate forms. The repetitive howling shrieks of the loyal mortal servants below, have opened the archaic portal and reanimated I.C.E once more to reign again over Earth. We were revived and have arisen from our tomb on command to destroy all life as you know it under an endless blanket of ice and snow. We come and go only by the will of the great and ancient Råvaskeith.

Ice-themed black metal is not uncommon, but there are very few bands that make people immediately recognize them as an ice-themed black metal band from both visual and auditory aspects. In my opinion, ICE has undoubtedly achieved this and done an exceptional job. So, how did you initially come up with the idea of forming an ice-themed black metal band? And what efforts have you made to make the entire band feel more "ice-like"?

I: 我们从不策划或操控任何创作，亦不刻意为之——一切皆自发奔涌，于同一时刻浑然天成。当聚首之时，意识尽消，召唤而至的灵体将附于我们星界寒冰流体，操纵这具躯壳延伸工具，掘出古老仇恨。此乃狂喜之境，一如召唤仪式中的战栗。非人之魂在星界交织碰撞，相互淬砺…因而诸般显现皆自然迸发，如力量与信念的合一洪流。凡人之智难以理解此道…实在难以言喻…创造即存在，正如吾等即存在本身。

We do not plan or control any composition nor make conscious efforts on anything like that. It all flows from us, at the same time...it is all done at the moment, spontaneously....When we gather our conscious minds disappear and the spirits to which we where called possess our astral arctic fluid, thus controlling our moves and upheaving the ancient hatred through the tools of our corporeal extensions. This is a very rapturous experience, as is when we gather for the invoking rituals. Our inhuman souls are constantly colliding together on the astral level intertwining, and inspiring each other.....hence all these manifestations come forth naturally as a combined unity of power and conviction. We do not handle things as normal human men can comprehend....It is hard for me to explain...This creation just IS....as we just ARE....

V: 你刚刚在2025年发行了你的新专辑"Abominable Astral Summoning"。你觉得这张专辑怎么样？这是一张概念专辑吗？这是一个独立的作品，还是与你的其他专辑有联系？

You just released your new album “Abominable Astral Summoning” in 2025. What do you think of this album? Is it a concept album? Is it a standalone work, or does it have connections with your other albums?

I: 这张专辑与过往的联结是永恒且残酷的。吾等对诸世的侵袭将永不枯竭——当选定之时降临，低温剧痛将席卷存续之一切。即便在冰封末日之后，吾等亦将倾泻自身的冻结之血于大地，作为对“纯白荒芜空无冻土”之真理的终极献祭。

The connection is eternal and relentless. Our attack on all worlds will be ruthless and unceasing. Hypothermic pain will befall everyone and everything that exists when the chosen time has come. Even after the frozen apocalypse we too, shall spill our own frozen blood upon the earth as a final sacrifice to the wholeness and truth that is the empty frozen kingdom of blinding white bleakness.

V: 到目前为止你收到关于这张专辑的反馈了吗？你觉得它怎么样——它继承了ICE独特的声音吗？

Have you received any feedback on this album so far? What do you think of it—does it carry on ICE’s distinctive sound?

I: 我们并不知晓此类事物的存在。此都乃人类的虚构产物，对我们而言毫无意义。我们之所以被召唤是有原因的，而那个目标必须得以实现，无论凡人对此持有何种看法或信仰。我们所知道的只有，在一切生命都将被冻结死亡的意志所毁灭的情况下，一切将化为乌有。你们所有的人类科学家都已经明白，时间的概念并不存在，而“本来如此”且一直如此，远在人类赋予“时间”以意义之前就已经如此了。他们还发现了数百个穿梭于这个太阳星团中的移动黑洞，然而他们仍远远没有弄清楚这些不断移动的物质的起源、其力量以及在广阔而寒冷的宇宙深渊中填充着的黑物质内部的那片空洞的白色物质。我们被选中、被召唤并被带到北方，成为这个宇宙中第一批能够召唤并召唤出冰波的生物，穿越着不断扩大的宇宙。

We do not know of such things. These are human constructs and worthless to us. We were called for a reason, and that goal must be achieved regardless of what mortals believe or think about. The only thing we know is the complete annihilation of all life under the will of freezing death. All your human scientists have comprehended that the concept of time is nonexistent, and "just is" and has been, far before humans designated "time" to it. They also have stumbled upon the hundreds of traveling black holes that sift through this sun's star cluster alone, and yet they are still far from realizing the origin of these shifting masses and there power as well as the empty white mass that fills the interior of the blackmatter in the vast, cold abyss of space. We where chosen, conjured and brought to the north to be the first creatures of this universe to conjure and summon the waves of ice through the ever expanding universe.

V: 你对乐队未来的发展有什么计划？你打算在未来的专辑中加入更多的乐器或融合不同的风格，还是你打算一直坚持自己的Black Metal？

What are your plans for the band’s future development? Do you plan to incorporate more instruments or blend in different styles in your future albums, or do you intend to stick to your own black metal all the way?

I: 吾等对此种力量毫无掌控、发明或规划之力。拉瓦斯凯斯很快就会让未来为人所知，届时所有人都会知晓它的存在以及那深不可测的隐秘计划，但是尔等并不会有任何解释。除了冰霜，我们的生与死再无其他。我们获得了新生，而在这使命完成之前，冰霜与召唤末日将是我们的道路。我们将继续在北方的冰天雪地中繁衍生息，隐匿于冰洞雪穴之中，与唯一的存在交流。你们的孩子仍会被我们掳走，在星云刺骨的暴风雪中剥皮。你们这些凡人总是急切地询问更多冰霜、更多死亡、更多苦难、更多仇恨的毁灭。难怪你们的死亡会如你们潜意识所渴望的那样迅速而痛苦……因为从最原始的深处，你们就知道应该怎样。生命的终结，Råvaskieth的崛起，以及理应到来的冰封宇宙王国！

We have no control nor invention nor plans over this power. Råvaskeith will make the future known soon enough, then all will know of it’s existence and abysmal cryptic plans without explanation. There is nothing else in our lives / death apart from ICE. We were given a new life, and until our mission is complete, ICE and the summoning of the END, shall be the way. We will continue to thrive amongst the northlands, hidden within caverns of ice and snow, communing with the ONE. Your children shall continue to be abducted by us, and skinned within the piercing blizzard winds of astral nebuli. You mortals are so quick to inquire about more ICE, more death, more misery, more hateful blasting. It is no wonder that your deaths will come swift and painful the way you subconsciously desire it to be....because primordially deep down, you know what should be. The end of life, the rise of the Råvaskieth and the rightful frozen universal kingdom!

V: 有没有哪个乐队是你特别喜欢的或者对你有很大影响的？

Are there any bands that you particularly like or that have had a great influence on you?

We have no inspirations other than the force that drives us, and bends our minds and wills to the blinding hypothermic power of the ancient. Before we took it upon ourselves to take the jump and move to the wilderness of the north - feeling the pull of of the orbital Råvaskieth, we were all musicians as humans...outcasts...different. To us this thing you talk of - "inspiration", comes naturally, and I suppose that the powers we inherited through our astral communions, may have influenced our talents even more so, giving us even more power. All of our senses and abilities are constantly growing stronger, and the cold emptiness prepares us for the time, when we will be given the final power to raise the beasts, and bring the rightful unity of cold black emptiness to the universe once more. If this music sounds inhuman to you, then you are correct. Just by playing the album in your speakers, you are opening the eyes of the parallel side to peer right into you....and you feel that as the music rages on. We have no control of vocals, lyrics or inspirations, the voice of Råvaskieth spits forth from us, whenever we open our mouths...we can not control that..nor understand the presence or power of it just yet...it just happens. Those of you who have always looked at this existence and known that something is not right, something is wrong.....you look with hate and misanthropy...ICE is for you...to open your souls and have the great eye of Råvaskieth stare into you. Feel the hate, and when the cold winds come and the screaming begins....take your knife with you into the snow....bury yourself deep, then and only then will you who understand, perish in emptiness without the vicious pain of the astral cosmic regime....Let this album INSPIRE YOU to find the cold empty truth within you, as we have.

V: 你们有任何即将到来的发行计划或演出时间表吗？你想过在中国演出吗？

Do you have any upcoming release plans or performance schedules? Have you ever thought about performing in China?

I: 我们并非“演奏”或“表演”，而是敞开胸膛，任由那股力量翻涌而出，将我们吞噬。就像大脑和灵魂深处那令人痛苦的凹陷，全能的拉瓦斯凯斯的声音和充满憎恶的声波会以一阵痉挛般的猛烈冲击，冲进你的太阳神经丛，掌控你身体的每一根肢体和每一个动作。尖叫与狂暴的抽搐所形成的旋风暴风雪，会将你脑海中的一切思绪都包裹在你这可悲的人类脆弱生命即将面临的景象之中。末日将以刺眼的白色和雪降临……这冰封末日的一瞥会让你在潜意识里渴望更多，深知：……你不该在此……末日将至……精神、冷酷且古老，ICE之混沌神明将再度归来，重新统治一切！！！我们将把这股寒意带到中国。我们将把这真相传遍全球，乃至宇宙之外。我们将征服一切造物。

We do not “play” or “perform”, we open our chests and allow the possession to upheave and escape us. Like a concaving vexating pain within your brain and soul, the voice and sonic hatred of the almighty Råvaskeith will spill forth and enter you solar-plexus with a convulsing violent thrust, taking control of all your corporeal limbs and motions. The whirlwind blizzard of screaming and violent thrashing will encase your thoughts with the imagery of what will come of your pathetic human frail existence. The End will come in blinding white and snow....such glimpses of the frozen apocalypse will leave you subconsciously begging for more, knowing:..YOU SHOULD NOT BE HERE....THE END IS NEAR... Cosmic, cold and ancient, the chaos gods of ICE shall return to rule once more!!! We will bring this cold to China. We will bring this truth to the entire globe and the universe beyond. We will conquer all creation.

I really love your music and hope it will reach more Chinese metal fans. I will keep following you. Finally, is there anything you want to say to everyone?

I: 一切都无望了。这个世界正逐渐陷入奴役思维的泥沼之中。这是由少数躲在幕后、与大多数人为敌的自私分子所造成的。人类在攻击自身的同时也在毁灭自己。所有的思想和灵魂都在对那台必须被摧毁的庞大机器的无力反抗中变得僵化。矩阵只是一个更广阔空间之间空间的微缩版，其中充满了最初那道白光所散发的耀眼光芒。我们在此是为了释放那无尽的光芒，并开启通往所有世界冻结式毁灭的门户，不仅仅是你们这已经奄奄一息的世界。那些不知情的人已经在协助我们进行冰冷的包裹工作。一切都将从此改变。做好准备吧，因为还有更多的事情即将发生！

All hope is lost. This world is spiraling downward into a slavemind mentality. It is brought on by the selfishness of the minority of individuals working behind the scenes against the majority. Humanity is killing itself at the same time as we are attacking it. All minds and souls are becoming frozen in helplessness to the giant machine that must be destroyed. The matrix is just a small microcosm of the broader spaces between spaces that are filled with the blinding light of the original white glow of the ONE. We are here to release that abysmal light and open the portal to the frozen destruction of ALL worlds, not only your already dying one. Humans without knowing are already aiding our work of frigid encapsulation. Nothing will ever be the same again. Prepare yourselves as there is much more to come!
