今天的采访是来自德国的Khôra。Khôra成立于2012年，最初仅仅只是Oleg的个人计划。在开始四年后才有了第一个demo《Málenkij robot》，之后Oleg开始招募乐手并开启了第一张全长专辑《Timaeus》的录制，并由Soulseller Records发行。Khôra的音乐完美的将黑金属和前卫金属结合在一起，并且创造出了属于他们自己的独特的声音。Oleg在录音的时候会邀请许多的乐手来客串，因此他们的音乐也融合了不同音乐家的特点。前不久Khôra的第二张全长专辑刚刚发行，因此本次我们邀请到了乐队主创Oleg来做一次专访。

Today's interview is with Kh ô ra from Germany. Kh ô ra was founded in 2012, initially as Oleg's personal plan. Four years later, Oleg had his first demo "M á lenkij robot", after which he began recruiting musicians and began recording his first full-length album "Timaeus", which was released by Soulsellar Records. Kh ô ra's music perfectly combines black metal and avant-garde metal, creating their own unique sound. Oleg invites many musicians to guest star during recording, so their music also incorporates the characteristics of different musicians. Not long ago, Kh ô ra's second full-length album was just released, so this time we invited the band's creator Oleg to do an exclusive interview.

V: 你好Khôra乐队感谢你们参加本次采访。能否先给中国的朋友们介绍一下你们呢？最开始这只是一个个人计划，你们是如何发展成乐队的呢？

Hello, Khôra. Thank you for participating in this interview. Could you introduce it to your China fans first? At the very beginning, this was just a personal project. How did you develop it into a band?

O: 感谢您对Khôra的关注。早在2011-2012年在为许多乐队打鼓后，我就觉得我有很多音乐想法可以带到桌子上，所以我决定拿起一把吉他开始尝试。过了一段时间，我想让它成为一个完整的阵容，所以我在寻找成员，慢慢地把它变成了你今天看到的样子。

Thanks for your interest in Khôra. Back in 2011-2012 after playing drums for many bands, I felt I had many musical ideas to bring to the table, so I decided to grab a guitar and start experimenting with it. After a while I wanted it to be a proper full line-up thing so I was looking for members and slowly formed it into what you can see today.

V: 你们的新专辑在5月2号就发行了，能否和我们介绍一下新专辑呢？

Your new album was released on May 2nd. Could you introduce the new album to us?

O: Ananke是希腊的必然性和命运之神或必然性之神。这张专辑基于世界的创造和ANANKE在控制人类方面的作用。这是对2020年首次亮相的柏拉图对话"TIMAEUS"的恰当延续。第二张专辑是我们从之前的错误中吸取教训后，以更多的经验卷土重来，我相信我们把科拉带到了一个新的水平。

Ananke was the greek deity of inevitability and fate, or necessity. The album is based on the creation of the world and the role of ANANKE in the control of humanity. It’s a fitting continuation to the debut from 2020 titled TIMAEUS which was a dialogue by Plato. This second album is our comeback with much more experience after learning from previous mistakes and I believe we took Khôra to the next level.

V: 能否分享下你们的专辑创作过程，你们是如何创作歌曲的？这张专辑从2021年就开始制作了，从之前发行的两首单曲来看，新专辑和上张专辑有了很大变化，你们觉得呢？

Could you share the process of creating your album and how you composed the songs? This album has been in production since 2021. Listening to the two singles released before, I found that there have been significant changes in the new album compared to the previous one. What do you think of it?

O: 事实上，这张专辑在2020年就已经准备好了80%，我们有很多延误并在4年的时间里完成了最后的20%。起初我录制吉他并为鼓编程。然后我在录音室录制真正的鼓。然后乐队的每个成员都有自己的乐器要录制。我们在“云”上交换东西，所以现在很方便。

Actually, this album was 80% ready back in 2020, we had many delays and managed to finish the last 20% over the course of 4 years. At first I record guitars and programme the drums. I then record the real drums in a studio. Then each member of the band has their instruments to record. We exchange things on “the cloud” so it’s very convenient nowadays.

V: Khôra成立于2012年，但是在2016年才发行了首张Atmospheric Black Metal Demo，这张Demo有了一点Avant-Garde Black Metal的影子，但是他并不像首张专辑那样成熟。所以你们为什么间隔这么长时间发行你们的作品，是因为你们创作的难度还是制作的周期过长呢？

Khôra was founded in 2012, but it wasn't until 2016 that they released their first atmospheric black metal demo. This demo had a hint of avant-garde black metal, although it wasn't as mature as their first album. So why do you release your works at such a long interval? Is it because of the difficulty of your creation or the overly long production cycle?

O: 在那段时间里，我仍然是一个人，我要搬到另一个国家，需要一段时间才能在经济上得到解决并在空闲时间找到一个好的栖身之所，这是我能做的最接近的时间。

I was still alone during that period of time and I was relocating to a different country, it takes a while to get sorted financially and getting a good roof over your head with free time, this was the closest time I could do it.

V: 在创作音乐的时候，你是否会有意识地想着创造出一些不同的声音呢？

When creating music, do you consciously think about creating some different sounds?

O: 说实话，我顺其自然，不管那一刻发生了什么。其他时候，如果我有一个想法，我会把它唱成录音，然后当我在工作室的时候，我会听它，记录并进一步发展这个想法。换句话说，这是一种混合。

I go with the flow to be honest, whatever comes at that moment. Other times if I have an idea, I sing it into a voice recording and then when I am in my studio, I listen to it and record and develop the idea further. In other words – it’s a mix.

V: 你和众多乐手都合作过，每张专辑你也会请来许多客串乐手。那么你认为每个乐手在Khôra里面是需要展现出自己的特色还是要完全符合原有歌曲的特色呢？为什么会选择找这么多的乐手来客串专辑呢？

You have collaborated with many musicians, and for each album, you also invite many guest musicians. So, do you think each musician in Khora needs to showcase their own characteristics or fully conform to the characteristics of the original songs? Why were so many musicians chosen to make cameo appearances in the album?

O: 当你听自己的专辑时，这是一种很棒的感觉，因为你知道20年前你曾经受到启发和钦佩的音乐家正在和你一起演奏。这是我这样做的主要原因。所有嘉宾成员都有音乐自由，可以在我为他们选择的歌曲上工作。如果不合适，我会给他们反馈，他们会再试一次，但这种情况很少发生。

It’s a great feeling when you listen to your own album, knowing that the musicians you used to be inspired by and admire 20 years ago, are playing alongside yourself. This is the main reason I do this. All the guest members have musical freedom to do their job on the song I chose for them. If it doesn’t suit, I give them feedback and they try again, but that is very rare to happen.

V: 2025年除了新专辑的发行外是否还有其它的打算？你们貌似从未参加演出，这是为什么呢？

Besides the release of the new album in 2025, are there any other plans? It seems that you have never participated in a performance. Why is that?

O: Khôra目前仍将是一个国际合作项目，所以没有演出的计划，因为我们都生活在不同的国家。

Khôra will stay an international collaboration project for now, so there are no plans to do gigs because we all live in different countries.

V: 你觉得有哪些乐队对你的音乐产生了很大的影响呢？

Which bands do you think have had a great influence on your music?

O: 你可能会听到很多皇帝、大角星、Dimmu Borgir、Satyricon和Mayhem的故事。否则，金属之外的许多其他流派的影响也会发挥作用。

You will probably hear a lot of Emperor, Arcturus, Dimmu Borgir, Satyricon and Mayhem. Otherwise, many influences from other genres outside of metal come into play.

V: 说实话我非常欣赏你们的音乐并且我也会持续关注你们。在采访的最后你们有什么想对中国的朋友们说的吗？

To be honest, I really appreciate your music and I will keep following your band . At the end of the interview, is there anything you want to say to your friends in China?
