Today, we are featuring an interview with Pandaemonic Descent, a death metal/deathcore band from the Netherlands. Formed in 2024 by members Roy Bouwman, Wesley Stoop, Matteo Tettero, Tycho Homan, and Sean Jansen, the band released two singles between 2025 and 2026, garnering attention from fans and music critics alike within the Netherlands. Heavily influenced by both old-school death metal and deathcore, Pandaemonic Descent blends classic death metal foundations with contemporary deathcore elements—a fusion that has resonated strongly with younger audiences. This year, the band released their debut EP, *The Weight of Being Nothing*, which has quickly earned widespread acclaim and attention, establishing them as one of the most popular bands on the Dutch scene. To mark the release of this EP, we reached out to the band for an exclusive interview!

Hello, guys—it’s a pleasure to meet you, and thank you for taking part in this interview. I believe this is the first time your band has been interviewed by a Chinese magazine. To start things off, please say hello to all your fans in China. In which year was Pandæmonic Descent formed, and how did the band come together?

P: 大家好！感谢你们提供这次分享我们音乐的机会。我们是Pandæmonic Descent，一支来自荷兰的死亡金属乐队，成立于2024年。我们听金属乐多年，一直都想创作属于自己的音乐。起初我们打算组建一支翻唱乐队，但在几次排练之后，我们很快就决定组建一支属于自己的原创乐队。

Hello everybody! Thank you for the opportunity for us to share our music. We are Pandaemonic Descent, a death metal band from the Netherlands since 2024. For years we've been listening to metal and always wanted to make our own music. At first we wanted to start a cover band, but after a few studio sessions we fastly came to the conclusion to form our own band.

V: 你们乐队由五名成员组成，且全员皆为创始成员。这种阵容想必让创作过程更加顺畅，因为你们彼此都了解对方想要创作的音乐风格。能谈谈你们的创作过程吗？今年你们的新EP制作进展如何？

Your band consists of five members—all of whom are original members—which likely makes the songwriting process smoother since you understand the kind of music each of you aims to create. Could you tell us about your creative process? How is the production of your new EP coming along this year?

P: EP中的各首歌曲串联起了一个隐藏的故事。我们希望听众能与故事中的角色产生共鸣——这个角色正经历着一段艰难的时期——并让他们知道，他们并不孤单。在创作过程中，每位成员都会贡献自己的想法，我们也会不断地交换意见。通过这种方式，我们互相挑战，力求每次都有进步，并保持最佳的创作状态。我们的EP已于9月18日正式发行，目前我们正全力进行推广。我们已经安排了一些演出，实体CD也即将到货。

There is a story hidden amongst the different songs in order of the EP. We try to make the listener feel connected with the character that has been going through a difficult time and let them know that they're not alone. During the process of writing, every member of the band has their own input into the songs we wrote and we constantly give each other feedback. This way, we keep challenging each other to get better every time and keep each other sharp. Our EP released on the 18th of September and we immediately started to promote it. We have planned some upcoming gigs and have CD's coming our way.

V: 你们作品的制作水准非常出色，尤其是录音部分。这张作品是在哪家录音室录制的？由谁担任制作人？

The production quality of your work is outstanding, especially the recording. Which studio did you use for the album, and who produced it?

P: 感谢你们的夸奖，我们深感荣幸！由于专业录音室费用高昂，我们选择在“Totally Music Studios”和“Studio Kerssies”自行录制。混音和母带制作则由Sean Jansen负责。

Thank you for the compliments, we really appreciate it! The release was recorded in 'Totally Music Studios' and 'Studio Kerssies' by ourselves, since this was quite expensive. The mixing/mastering was done by Sean Jansen.

V: 你们音乐的主题是什么？你们为什么选择这个主题？又希望通过它传达些什么？此外，你们还为音乐创作了歌词——这些歌词出自谁之手？其灵感来源又是什么？

What is the theme of your music? Why did you choose this theme, and what do you wish to convey through it? You also wrote lyrics for the music—who wrote them, and what was the inspiration behind them?

P: 整张EP贯穿着一种沉重的心理负担感，描绘了一个正深陷困境的人所经历的种种——包括背叛、孤独、自杀念头等等。我们选择这个主题，是因为它往往难以启齿，许多人会选择将其压抑在心底。我们想告诉大家：谈论这些并没有什么不妥。我们的主唱Roy Bouwman负责了大部分歌词的创作，其灵感既源于各类社会与全球性议题，也来自他个人的亲身经历。

The theme throughout the whole EP is about the heavy feeling that weighs down on you, mentally. A person that is going through tough times regarding betrayal, loneliness, suicidal thoughts etc. We chose this theme, because this is an unspoken theme that a lot of people try to suppress. We want to let people know that it's okay to talk about it. Our vocalist, Roy Bouwman, wrote most of the lyrics, getting inspiration from public and global issues and first-hand lived experiences.

V: 你们目前尚未签约任何唱片公司，而是以独立形式在数字平台发行了这张作品。你们是否考虑过与唱片公司合作，推出实体版本？目前为止，你们是否已经与任何唱片公司有过接触？

You aren't currently signed to any label, and you’ve released the album digitally on your own. Have you considered partnering with a label to release a physical version? Have you been in touch with any labels so far?

P: 我们目前已与Below System Records签约。

We are currently signed by Below System Records for the time being.

V: 你们的乐队标志设计风格非常传统——是谁为你们设计的？你们的专辑封面也非常精美——这也是由谁设计的呢？

Your logo has a very traditional design—who designed it for you? Your album artwork is beautiful—who designed it for you?

P: 我们这张EP的标志和封面都是由“VrooMedia”设计的。

The logo and artwork for our EP was designed by 'VrooMedia'.

V: 你们新专辑背后的创作理念是什么？

What is the creative concept behind your new album?

P: 我们想将歌曲中的角色具象化，呈现在专辑封面上，这也是专辑命名为"The Weight Of Being Nothing"的原因。这个角色象征着一种空虚与孤独感。

We wanted to visualise the character from our songs into the album cover, hence the name 'The Weight Of Being Nothing'. A character that feels emptiness and loneliness.

V: 首先，祝贺你们发行了新专辑。你们的音乐深受Gojira、Angelmaker和Amon Amarth等乐队的影响；极具冲击力的吉他重复段带来了爆发感，而Deathcore元素的融入则让你们的音乐更具力度。你们对自己这部作品有何评价？

First of all, congratulations on the release of your new album. Your music is heavily influenced by bands like Gojira, Angelmaker, and Amon Amarth; the high-impact riffs deliver an explosive feel, and the incorporation of deathcore elements adds even more punch to your sound. What are your thoughts on your work?

P: 作为乐队的首部作品，我们感到非常自豪！在正式发布之前，我们还向其他音乐人寻求了反馈，以此来打磨和完善我们的音乐。

We are very proud of our first work as a band! We asked for feedback from other musicians before releasing our work to improve our sound.

V: 你们最近刚举办了一场演出，反响非常热烈；你们感觉如何？接下来还有其他演出计划吗？能和大家分享一下细节吗？

You just held a concert that was met with an enthusiastic response; how do you feel about it? Are there any other concerts you are planning to participate in? Could you share some details with everyone?

P: 没错！我们刚在兹沃勒完成了一场演出，现场充满了甩头和冲撞的狂热氛围。我们非常享受这场演出，收获了许多真诚而积极的反馈。我们今年年底和明年还有几场演出计划，对此我们非常期待。其中一场竟然是在婚礼上——这确实挺让人惊讶的，毕竟没多少人会想在自己的婚礼上请一支死亡金属乐队。

That's correct! We just played a show in Zwolle, with a lot of headbanging and moshpits. We really enjoyed playing this show, because we got a lot of positive and genuine responses. We have a few shows planned at the end of this year and next year which we look forward to. One of them is a wedding, which was really surprising, since not a lot of people want a death metal band at their wedding.

V: 除了发行这张新EP，你们还有什么其他的计划吗？能和大家分享一下吗？

Besides releasing the new EP, what other projects do you have lined up? Could you share some details with everyone?

P: 我们最近已经开始筹备下一张专辑了，这次我们给自己设定了更高的挑战。我们希望延续关于“心理健康”这一核心概念，但会尝试从不同的视角切入。这一次，我们打算更深入地探讨“恐惧”这一主题。

We're recently started working on our next album where we are challenging ourselves even more. We want to keep the same concept regarding mental health, but with a different view. This time we want to go deeper into the subject of fear.

V: 你们是一支年轻的乐队，但作品却展现出了惊人的成熟度。我会继续关注并支持你们，也希望这次访谈能让更多中国乐迷发现并支持你们的音乐。在访谈结束之际，你们有什么话想对中国的乐迷说吗？

You are a young band, yet your work is incredibly mature. I will continue to follow and support you, and I hope this interview helps more Chinese fans discover and support your music. As we wrap up, is there anything you would like to say to your fans in China?
