Today's interview features Sorry..., a Greek depressive suicide black metal (DSBM) band. The band was founded in 2019 by guitarist Dimitris and Deplorable. In 2019, Sorry... released their debut EP, Failure Years of Neglect Apathy. Despite their short history, Sorry... has quickly amassed a significant body of work and continues to release new material. In 2022, Sorry... released two full-length albums—“All That Died Was My Innocence” and “Innocence . Love . Sadness”. The albums garnered widespread attention from DSBM fans, with Dimitris's music and soul-stirring lyrics earning the band numerous accolades within the DSBM community. On July 4, 2025, Sorry... is set to release their latest full-length album, Fragile. The magazine reached out to Dimitris, the founder of Sorry..., for an exclusive interview ahead of the album's release.

Hello! Thank you very much for agreeing to this interview. First of all, greetings to everyone in the band. You have many fans in China, but this should be your first interview with a Chinese metal magazine. Could you please start by briefly introducing Sorry... to our readers? When was the band formed? How did the members meet?

D: 非常感谢你有兴趣采访我的乐队“Sorry...”，我深表感激。我非常喜欢许多中国DSBM乐队——“Be Persecuted”和“Aphasiac”是我个人最喜欢的几支。Sorry... 基本上是一支单人乐队。我独自处理所有事务——创作、录音、混音、母带处理、封面设计、宣传——所有工作。偶尔我会邀请其他音乐人协助演奏我不擅长的乐器，但整个项目完全由我独立运营。

Thank you so much for your interest in interviewing my band, Sorry... I truly appreciate it. I really love many Chinese DSBM bands—Be Persecuted and Aphasiac are some of my personal favorites. Sorry... is practically a one-man band. I handle everything myself—writing, recording, mixing, mastering, cover art design, promotion—everything. Occasionally, I invite other musicians to help with instruments I don’t know how to play, but the entire project is run solely by me.

V: 在今年的7月4日你们将要发行新专辑"Fragile"，这张专辑中的歌曲"Your Smile Is Killing Me"的MV非常美，同时歌曲也有非常优美的旋律，可以分享一下这首歌的创作过程吗？

On July 4 this year, you will release your new album Fragile. The music video for the song Your Smile Is Killing Me from this album is very beautiful, and the song itself has a very beautiful melody. Can you share the creative process behind this song?

D: 创作过程没什么特别的——通常只是我在演奏时随口哼唱的普通旋律。我的主要灵感来源是Burzum，这在DSBM场景中也很常见。

The creative process isn’t anything special—usually just a typical riff I come up with while playing. My main influence is Burzum, as is the case with much of the DSBM scene.

V: 这张新专辑"Fragile"是什么时候开始准备的？在这次的创作中，你们有融入哪些之前没有尝试过的方向或者歌曲主题吗？

When did you start preparing for this new album, Fragile? Did you incorporate any new directions or song themes that you hadn't tried before in this album?

D: 我不会说这张专辑探索了新的方向——它更像是对过去作品的延续，只是更加精炼和提升。我大概六个月前开始录制，但具体时间不太确定。我平时不太关注日期或日历。

I wouldn’t say the album explores new directions—it’s more like a continuation of what I’ve always been doing, just more refined and enhanced. I think I started recording about six months ago, but I’m not entirely sure. I don’t really pay much attention to dates or calendars.

V: 你们的歌词主题通常与个人情感，生命中的痛苦以及个体与个体之间的情感有关。可以谈谈你们创作出这些歌词的灵感来源吗？你们的歌词灵感来源来自你们的生活更多，还是来自你们接触到的艺术作品更多？

The themes of your lyrics are usually related to personal emotions, the pain of life, and the emotions between individuals. Can you talk about the inspiration behind your lyrics? Does the inspiration for your lyrics come more from your life, or from the artworks you encounter?

D: 是的，我写的歌词大多基于我个人生活的经历——但并非全部。有些歌词是受他人或故事启发而写，比如Jeffrey Dahmer就是其中一个例子。我在专辑"All That Died Was My Innocence"中写过与他相关的内容。*Jeffrey Dahmer是美国一位连环杀手，在1978至1991年间共杀死、肢解了17名男子，被称为密尔瓦基食人魔。

Yeah, most of the lyrics I write are based on personal experiences from my life—but not all of them. Some are inspired by other people or stories, like Jeffrey Dahmer, for example. I wrote something related to that on the album "All That Died Was My Innocence."

V: 你如何看待“痛苦”在你的创作中的作用？你是否认为只有亲身经历过痛苦才能创作出真实的DSBM音乐？

How do you view the role of “pain” in your song writing process? Do you believe that only those who have personally experienced pain can create authentic DSBM?

D: 不，我不认可那一点。我不是一个享受痛苦的人。当我承受痛苦时，我会完全把自己封闭起来——在那种状态下，我无法创作任何音乐。我是在心平气和时进行创作的。我相信每一个人终将经历痛苦。

No, I don’t believe that. I’m not someone who truly enjoys pain. When I’m suffering, I shut

down completely—I can’t write any music in that state. I compose when I’m at peace. I believe that every human being goes through pain at some point.

V: 下一个问题是关于乐队风格的，你们被定义为DSBM（抑郁自杀黑金属），我很好奇你们为什么选择这个流派？对你们影响最大的有哪些乐队或者音乐家（或者是任何方向的艺术家）？

The next question is about your band's style. You are defined as DSBM, I'm curious as to why you chose this genre? Which bands or musicians (or artists of any kind) have had the greatest influence on you?

D: 嗯，我认为这很容易做到。如果我能像早期的Katatonia、Anathema或Paradise Lost那样演奏，相信我——我不会去玩DSBM。我想这也能回答你关于我的音乐影响来源的问题。

Well, I believe it’s easy to play. If I had the ability to play like early Katatonia, Anathema, or Paradise Lost, trust me—I wouldn’t be playing DSBM. I guess that also answers the part of your question about who my influences are.

V: 这个问题可能有些敏感，有些DSBM乐队因为被认为“美化自杀”而饱受争议，你们怎样看待这种批评？

This question may be a bit sensitive. Some DSBM bands have been heavily criticized for “glorifying suicide.” How do you view this criticism?

D: 我完全反对这种批评。我认为我们需要正视问题。不过，确实有一些人正面临严重的心理健康问题，确实需要医疗帮助。但对此我无法发表太多看法，因为我在这一领域缺乏经验和专业资质。

I’m totally against it. I believe we need to confront our problems. That said, there are people who struggle with serious mental health issues and genuinely need medical help. But I can’t speak too much about that, since I’m not really experienced or qualified in that area.

V: 你们的乐队LOGO很美，看起来很像中世纪的印章，让我想到Opeth的LOGO。你们的LOGO是谁设计的？设计的灵感来源是什么？

Your band logo is beautiful. It looks like a medieval seal, reminding me of Opeth's logo. Who designed your logo? What was the inspiration behind it?

D: 我当时正在尝试一些字体，其中一款特别吸引我，于是就用了它。这款字体名为Ruritania。

I was experimenting with some fonts, and I really liked this one, so I used it. It’s called Ruritania.

V: 在新专辑发行之后，你们有什么演出的计划吗？你们计划怎样推广这张新专辑？

After the release of your new album, do you have any plans for performances? How do you plan to promote the new album?

我并不是一支现场演出乐队。我总是待在自己的房间里创作音乐，一旦新专辑发行，我就会立即开始制作下一张专辑。

I’m not really a live concert band. I always write music in my room, and once a new album is out, I immediately start working on the next one.
