疯狂的派对 - 意大利Hard Rock乐队Crazy party专访

Today's interview is with Crazy party, a Hard Rock band from Italy. When it comes to Heavy metal and Hard Rock music are inextricably linked, I'm sure you're all very familiar with this, so I won't do too much of an introduction here, in 2021 Crazy party was formed by five musicians heavily influenced by Hard Rock bands of the 70‘s - 80’s, such as Queen, Whitesnake, AC / DC, Skid Row and others. Rock bands such as Queen, Whitesnake, AC / DC, Skid Row, etc. Although the band had broken up for two years, the band eventually reunited to play their favourite music, with hard-hitting stage presence, great strumming, unforgettable melodies and solos, the band quickly became a band that made all the fans happy within a few short years. Hello Federico Pilia, nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview. I think this is the first time for your band to be interviewed by China magazine. First of all, let's say hello to the fans and friends in China. Crazy party was founded in 2021. Who proposed to form this band? Does the name Crazy party mean anything?

F: 你好我也很高兴！感谢你邀请我们的采访。组建Crazy Party的想法来自我们所有人，我们都希望创造出独一无二的、真实的东西。在这次冒险之前我们已经一起演奏了好几年，经常与其他音乐家一起表演翻唱。然而面对随处可见的翻唱乐队，我们觉得有必要创造出真正反映我们硬摇滚灵魂的原创作品。至于Crazy party这个名字，字面意思是Wild Party。在我们的设想中我们的听众是那些在聆听我们的音乐时真正享受其中的人，他们完全沉浸在真正的摇滚派对体验中。

Hi, it's a pleasure for me as well! Thank you for this interview. The idea to form Crazy Party came from all of us, driven by a desire to create something unique and authentic. Before this adventure, we had been playing together for several years, often with other musicians, performing covers. However, with cover bands everywhere, we felt the need to bring something original to life that truly reflected our hard rock soul. As for the name ‘Crazy Party,’ it literally means ‘Wild Party.’ We envision our audience as people who genuinely enjoy themselves while listening to our music, fully embracing the experience of a true rock party."

Every member of your band is an experienced musician. Can you introduce your creative process? I believe that your creative process will inspire many young musicians! How many works have you released so far?

"Yes, exactly. Each band member is an exceptional musician, with their own unique experiences and musical influences. Our creative process for each song often starts from an intuition, a riff, or a particular feeling. I have my own recording studio, Oniria Studio, where we produce all of Crazy Party's tracks. We meet in the studio about twice a week, constantly rehearsing our songs, and we often try to experiment with new ideas. This process isn’t limited to the studio—often one of us has an idea outside of rehearsal and immediately shares it with the rest of the band. From there, we start developing the song, and I have to say, we’re deeply passionate about it and live it to the fullest. Once we’ve rehearsed the new piece several times, we move on to the actual recording, where we add additional arrangements and new ideas. We love music from the ‘70s and ‘80s, inspired by bands like Queen, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, AC/DC, and many others. That style of music and its themes have greatly influenced us. Our songs come together very naturally; this is how we work: we start with a riff idea, or rather, a melody idea, because melody is extremely important to us in a song. From there, we develop the concept, each of us adding our own input, allowing us to achieve our sound with relative ease. We’re truly a close-knit group. So far, we’ve released seven singles, starting with Crazy Party in Town, followed by She Calls Me, Moonlight Road, Love Will Scream, Inside My Mind, Hail of Lead, and Raining Paradise. All these songs are connected by a common thread; it’s a real concept. It tells the story of a journey taken by two characters—a young man and a young woman—who, starting from the party in Crazy Party in Town, set out to change their lives and seek a better future. They face all the pros and cons of escaping, as they must confront their past, which, as the story reveals, is not a simple one.

V: 我刚刚听了你们乐队的最新单曲，录音效果非常好。你们是在哪个录音室录制的？谁为你们制作了这张专辑？

I just listened to your band's latest single, and your recording effect is excellent. In which studio did you record the album? Who produced the album for you?

As already mentioned, I have a recording studio where we produce all the Crazy Party songs, the production is always ours, in the last single in particular we had the honor of having Derek Sherinian as co-producer

The logo of your band is beautifully designed. Who designed this logo for you? Your album artwork is also beautifully designed. Who and which designer designed this artwork for you?

The band’s logo was created from the ideas of all the members—we wanted something simple yet impactful. Usually, I draft an initial sketch, and then we discuss any changes and improvements together. This process applies to both our logo and the artwork for all our singles.

V: 你的音乐主题是什么？为什么选择这样一个音乐主题？你想通过这样的音乐主题表达什么？你还写了歌词。这些歌词是谁写的，灵感来自哪里？

What is the theme of your music? Why did you choose such a music theme? What do you want to hear from such a musical theme? You also wrote the lyrics. Who wrote these lyrics and what inspired him?

The theme of our music is primarily the classic vibe of ‘70s-’80s hard rock—very lively, carefree—but that doesn’t mean there isn’t an important message behind it. So, we chose to frame everything in hard rock to convey a party message, a reminder that life isn’t just depression and sadness; there’s also room for fun. In our two-hour set, we want to create a party—a crazy party. Our songs are linked by a common thread. It begins with Crazy Party in Town, where the party starts, and two main characters, a guy and a girl, meet, feel a connection, and decide to set out on a journey towards a better life. The story unfolds over seven tracks, narrating their journey with all the ups and downs of running away. Usually, when someone escapes from a past life, there’s something dark and dangerous, which indeed comes out in a raw and intense way as the story progresses. I wrote the lyrics myself. There’s a lot of autobiography in them, because after two years of pandemic, there’s a need to find the positive side of life again. And what better way than hard rock combined with a crazy party?

V: 你计划发行专辑的CD版本吗？你目前是否与一些厂牌联系合作？

Are you planning to release a CD version of your album? Are you currently in contact with those brands for cooperation?

C: 我们正在敲定专辑，将于12月发行。它将以CD和黑胶两种实体形式发行。目前我们正在考虑发行我们唱片的唱片公司的各种报价，但由于谈判仍在进行中，我们还不能透露任何细节。

We’re finalizing the album, which will be released in December. It will be available in physical format as both a CD and vinyl. At the moment, we’re considering various offers for the label that will release our record, but as negotiations are still underway, we can’t reveal any details yet.

Your latest single "Rain In Paradise" invited Derek Sherinian from the former Dream Theater band to help you participate. He is a great music festival. How did you invite Derek Sherinian to help you record the single?

Yes, it was the cherry on top of a track that we already loved. When we composed Rain in Paradise, we never imagined a collaboration of this level. Then, the opportunity arose—Derek was looking for interesting bands where he could contribute, co-produce the track, and even play on it. When we sent him Rain in Paradise, he was blown away; he loved the track so much that he was eager to work with us. It was an unforgettable experience, working with one of the greatest musicians on the planet, which was incredible not only because of his immense professionalism but also because of who he is as a person. He shared some priceless advice with us, like treasures. It was truly an unforgettable experience, and we’re definitely planning to continue this collaboration in the future. All we can say is that when we heard our track enhanced by his keyboards, our reaction was simply, “WOW!”

V: 你最近成为了一个吉他品牌的代言人。你是如何加入这个吉他品牌的？你对为该吉他品牌代言有何感想？

You have recently become the spokesperson of a guitar brand. How did you join this guitar brand? How do you feel about speaking for this guitar brand?

Yes, I became the spokesperson for Khonokeen Guitar. About two years ago, I was offered the chance to become an endorser for the brand, but due to various commitments, I hadn’t had the opportunity to consider the proposal. When we released ‘Hail Of Lead’ with Crazy Party, the owner of Khonokeen Guitar contacted me to congratulate me on the track and reiterated the offer to become an endorser. After considering the excellent guitar models offered by the brand, I decided to seize the opportunity, and today I am truly honored to be part of this family.

First of all, congratulations on your latest single "Rain In Paradise". You are a band influenced by rock music in 1970s and 1980s, with beautiful melody, strong, deep and vicissitudes, which reminds me of Skid Row, Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Queen, AC/DC, etc. What do you think of your works?

Thank you for the compliments. We’re happy you like the album. We’re very, very, very pleased. Our influences, as mentioned before, are classic ‘70s and ‘80s hard rock. Our goal is always to create catchy melodies, enhanced by equally harmonic riffs, that are instantly engaging. We aim for music that is accessible— not predictable, but very enjoyable for listeners. The influences you mentioned are exactly right. We’re old-school rockers—not exactly nostalgic, but we believe that the real music, the kind that has endured and will always endure, is the music of the ‘70s and ‘80s. No offense to other genres, but there was something extra, something magical, that made—and still makes—those songs, that style, timeless.

As far as I know, you stopped briefly for two years. What made you stop?

No, we absolutely never stopped. It’s been a long process, but we never took a break. Our approach was to release our music as singles first, and then, after the seventh single, Rain in Paradise, to complete a cycle that started in 2022. This will wrap up in December with the last three singles—eight, nine, and ten—which, for now, it will also be available on physical, CD and vinyl formats. So no, we never stopped. That’s classic fake news.

V: 你的乐队参加过哪些音乐节？有哪些音乐节给你留下了深刻的印象？能给我们介绍当时的氛围吗？2024年你还打算参加哪些音乐节？

What music festivals did your band participate in? What music festivals left a deep impression on you? Can you tell us about the atmosphere at that time? What other music festivals are you going to attend in 2024?

C: 我们决定在专辑完成之前不进行现场表演，专辑将于12月发行，在工作室工作了大约两年半后，我们的目标是2025年参加音乐节并推出我们的第一张专辑。这是一个从一开始就做出的选择:在这两年半的时间里，我们准备以最好的方式现场演奏我们的音乐。我们将随时为你更新Crazy Party的未来日期。”

We decided not to perform live until our album was finished. With the album set to release in December, after about two and a half years of work in the studio, we are aiming for 2025 to participate in festivals and present our first album. This has been a choice made from the very beginning: during these two and a half years, we have prepared to deliver our music live in the best possible way. We will keep you updated on future dates for Crazy Party.
