Today's interview is with UK Hardcore / Metal band Fomented, formed in 2023 by Sy Taplin and Kieran Scott and started working on the band's first EP “Bitter and Miserable Beings” in 2024. Miserable Beings”, the band created an explosion of heartbreaking improvised riffs and rousing vocals, filled with heartbreaking improvised riffs, rousing vocals, and hard to categorize sounds, and it was written and recorded entirely by the band themselves, which is a testament to the band's dedication to their album, Fomented! Fomented's debut EP is a must-listen for fans of aggressive, emotionally charged metal. The band's ferocious, relentless improvisational riffs and blistering lyrical themes combine to create a sound that is as unpredictable as it is powerful. This EP marks the beginning of an exciting journey for the band. On the occasion of the release of their first EP the band got in touch with the magazine for an interview!

Hello brother nice to meet you and thank you very much for taking part in this interview, I think this is the first time your band has been interviewed by a Chinese magazine, first of all say hello to all your Chinese fans, when was Fomented formed? How did you form the band?
F: 感谢你联系我们并向你问好，感谢你对Fomented的支持。Fomented乐队成立于2023年末，2024年开始制作首张专辑"Bitter and Miserable Beings"。我和Kieran在Ashen Crown乐队时就决定要在乐队之外开展一个项目，因为我们很享受在一起工作的时光。
Thank you for reaching out to us and would like to say hi and thank you for supporting Fomented. Fomented was formed late 2023 and have been working on the debut Ep Bitter and Miserable Beings during 2024. Myself and Kieran whilst in the band Ashen Crown decided that we wanted to start a project outside the band as we enjoyed working together.
V: 你们乐队的成员都是第一代吗？你们是否更换过乐队成员，新成员是如何加入乐队的，你们对新成员的表现满意吗？
Are all the members of your band first generation? Have you ever changed band members, how did the new members join the band, and are you happy with what the new members are doing?
F: 我们是乐队的第一代成员，非常享受一起工作的时光，因为这是一种非常自然和轻松的关系。
We are the first generation of the band and really enjoy working together as it's a very natural and easy going relationship.
V: 能描述一下你们的创作过程吗？
Can you describe your creative process?

The creative process is really organic. The process comes from a style that we both enjoy writing and it holds no bounds or direction. I guess the process will derive on either a guitar melody or a lyrical arrangement and then we go from there.
V: 你们即将发行首张EP专辑，这张专辑是在哪个录音室录制的？哪位制作人参与了你们专辑的制作，录制过程如何？
You are about to release your first EP album, which studio did you record this album in? Which producer worked on your album and how did the recording process go?
F: 这张EP完全是DIY，是在（Sy）家里的工作室录制的。我负责制作、混音和母带处理。录音过程很有趣，我自己也学到了很多母带制作的知识，这就是你们在EP中听到的声音。我们想要一种原始但专业的声音和感觉。
The EP is completely DIY which was recorded at my (Sy) home studio. I produced, mixed and mastered the EP. The recording process was fun and I myself learned lots about mastering which is the sound that you hear on the EP. We wanted a raw but professional sound and feel.
V: 你们乐队的Logo非常漂亮，是谁为你们设计的这个Logo？你们专辑的插图也非常独特，是谁为你们设计的这个插图？
Your band's logo is very beautiful, who designed this logo for you, and the artwork for your album is very unique, who designed this artwork for you?
F:Logo标由Kieran Scott设计，图案由我们共同决定。主要的设计是通过免费使用的图样找到的，我们在找到自己喜欢的图样之前浏览了很多想法和设计。我们认为它非常酷，而且与乐队的风格相吻合。
The logo was created by Kieran Scott and we both decided on the artwork. The main design was located via free to use artwork which we had to trawl through a lot of ideas and designs until we found the one that we liked. We think it's very cool and matches the band.
V: 你们乐队的音乐主题是什么？为什么选择这个音乐主题？你们想通过这个主题表达什么？你们有歌词部分吗？谁写的歌词？
What is the theme of your band's music about? Why did you choose this musical theme? What do you want to express through this theme? Do you have a lyrics section, who wrote the lyrics and what inspired them?
F: 主题是原始、肮脏，但听起来很专业。我们可以说我们是一支Hardcore / Death Metal乐队，但又有所变化。Kieran负责作词，我负责作曲。主题就像乐队的名字一样，具有煽动性和刺激性。触及时事，说这就是生活，这就是我们生活的世界。它并不总是美好的并指出各方面的缺点和寓言。
The theme is raw, dirty, but professional sounding. We would say that we are a hardcore/ death metal band but with a twist. Kieran wrote the lyrics and I composed the music. The theme is like the band name to instigate and aggravate. To touch on current affairs and say this is life and the world we live in. It's not always great and to point out foibles and fables in all aspects.
V: 你打算在哪个唱片公司发行这张EP专辑？你们目前正在联系哪些唱片公司？
What label are you going to release this EP album on? What labels are you currently in contact with?
F: 现阶段我们还没有关于唱片公司的计划，如果符合我们的要求，我们愿意接受报价。
We don't have a plan on labels at this stage and open to offers if it suits what we want.
V: 首先祝贺乐队即将发行首张 EP 专辑，我还没有听过你们的作品，但我可以想象这张专辑一定会是一张非常棒的作品，你们对自己的作品有什么看法？
Firstly, congratulations on the band's upcoming first EP album, I haven't heard your work yet, but I can imagine that the album will be a fantastic piece of work, what do you think of your work?
F: 谢谢你的祝贺，我们非常感激。我希望你能听到这张EP并喜欢它。我们对这张EP感到非常自豪，目前正在为未来的发行撰写新的素材。
Thank you for the congratulations we really appreciate that. I hope you do hear the EP and enjoy what you hear. We are really proud of the EP and are currently writing the next material for and future release.
V: 你们的乐队计划在2025年参加哪些音乐会？你们受邀参加过哪些音乐会？迄今为止你们进行过哪些现场表演？
What concerts are your band planning to attend in 2025? What concerts have you been invited to? What live shows have you played so far?
F: 我们目前没有现场表演的计划，但我们愿意接受各种机会。
We have no current plans to play live and are open to opportunities.
V: 你们是一支非常年轻的乐队，但也是一支非常有潜力的乐队，我会一直支持和关注你们的乐队，也希望通过这次采访能有更多的中国歌迷关注和支持你们的乐队，最后想对中国歌迷说点什么？
You are a very young band, but a very promising band, I will always support and pay attention to your band, and I hope that through this interview more Chinese fans will pay attention to and support your band, what would you like to say to your Chinese fans in the end?
F: 谢谢你们的支持。我们想对中国歌迷说声“你好”并希望有机会能去你们美丽的县城，为你们演奏我们的音乐，享受你们的支持。
