今天采访的是来自意大利的Progressive / Melodic Heavy Metal / Hard Rock乐队Shady Lane，组建于2024年的Shady Lane是一支非常年轻的乐队，组建不久之后乐队发行了一首单曲“The City”，优美的旋律，强劲的Riff，加上键盘的铺垫更加体现出乐队的旋律，歌手清澈，干净的嗓音也是歌曲最大的亮点，2025年乐队在意大利Underground Symphony厂牌发行了他们的第一张正式专辑“There and Back”，这张专辑虽然刚刚发表但是绝对是今年最优秀的作品，乐队融合了Progressive / Melodic Heavy Metal / Hard Rock等元素，在同类型的作品中歌迷很容易辨别出Shady Lane乐队声音，在前不久杂志与乐队取得联系进行了一次专访！

Today's interview is with the progressive/Melodic Heavy Metal/Hard Rock band Shady Lane from Italy. Founded in 2024, Shady Lane is a very young band. Shortly after their formation, the band released a single called "The City" with a beautiful melody, strong Riff, and keyboard setup, which further reflects the band's melody. The clear and clean voice of the singer is also the biggest highlight of the song. In 2025, the band released their first official album "There and Back" on the Italian Underground Symphony label. Although this album has just been released, it is definitely the best work of the year. The band combines Progressive/Melodic Heavy Metal/Hard Rock. Like other elements, fans can easily distinguish Shady Lane among works of the same type The band's voice was recently contacted by a magazine for an exclusive interview with the band!

Hello brother, it's nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview. I think this is the first time your band has been interviewed by a Chinese magazine. First of all, let's say hello to all Chinese fans. Shady Lane was founded in 2024 and is a very young band. How did you form this band?

S: 嗨，中国，实际上这是我们第一次接受中国杂志的采访，当然我们真的希望尽可能多地吸引中国粉丝。2024年我和Luca的另一支乐队Lvory的专辑"AlienNation"发行后，我成立了这个乐队。Shady Lane原本打算成为我的个人项目，但每个人都参与其中，以至于它立即不仅成为一个真正的乐队，而且成为我们的主乐队，还因为渐进金属是一种自由的艺术形式，所以我们可以创作任何一种想法。我写了所有的音乐，主要受Dream Theater、Fates Warning、Queensryche、Symhony X或Elegy等乐队的影响；比Luca和Roby（我们的歌手）写歌词和概念以及讲故事。Antony我们的键盘手和我合作完成最后的安排。这是我们的首张专辑，但我们都是经验丰富的音乐家，还有30多年的演奏经验！

Hi China, actually it's our first interview for a chinese magazine and of course we really hope to achieve as many chinese fans as possible. I started this band in 2024 just after the release of AlienNation, the album of my and Luca's other band, Ivory. Shady Lane was intended to be my solo project, but every one were and are so involved that immediately it become not only a real band, but our main band, also because progressive metal is a free form of art, so we can hit any kind of idea composing. I write all the music, mainly influenced by bands like Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Queensryche, Symhony X or Elegy, to name a few; than Luca and Roby (our singer) write the lyrics and the concept, along with the storytelling. Antony, our keyboards player collaborates with me with the final arrangements. There and back is our debut album, but we are all experienced musicians with 30s more Years of playing!

V: 你们都是第一代，彼此认识很多年了。你知道彼此需要创作什么样的作品。你能介绍一下你的创作过程吗？

You are all members of the first generation, and you have known each other for many years. You know what kind of works each other needs to create. Can you introduce your creative process?

L: 共同的目标是创造结合旋律、优雅、抒情智慧和技巧的前卫金属音乐，这本身并不是目的，而是为歌曲及其想要表达的内容服务。在创作过程中，每个人都在他们最有能力的领域做出了贡献：Salvo创作了音乐基础，我创作了概念和歌词的初稿，然后由Roby精心编排和诠释，Roby还创作了声乐台词；Antony也用他的作品丰富了一切！一种非常有效地加速和合理化工作流程的方法！

The common goal was to create prog metal music that combined the elements of melody, elegance, lyrical intelligence and technique, not as an end in itself but at the service of the song and what it wants to express. In the creative process everyone contributed in the areas where they are most capable: Salvo created the musical bases, me the first draft of the concept and lyrics, then masterfully arranged and interpreted by Roby, who also created the vocal lines; Antony, as well, enriched everything with his work! A method that speeds up and rationalises the work process very effectively!

V: 你的专辑在录音方面表现出色。这张专辑是你在哪个录音室录制的，哪个制作人为你制作的？你2025年发行的第一张官方专辑的录制过程顺利吗？

Your album is excellent in terms of recording. Which studio did you record the album in, and which producer made the album for you? Did the recording process of your first official album, which was released in 2025, go smoothly?

S: 完全顺利！我在家里的录音室录制了所有的基本曲目。Than Roby在Tanzan Studios录制了声乐部分，最后我们在Elnor Studios进行了混音和母带制作，该工作室由Mat Stancioiu（迷宫、视觉神圣等）所有他也负责艺术品。我们真的很高兴制作。

Totally smoothly! I recorded all the basic tracks at my home studio. Than Roby recorded the vocal parts at Tanzan Studios and in the end we did the mix and mastering at Elnor Studios, owned by Mat Stancioiu (Labyrinth, Vision Divine etc.) who also took care of the artwork. We are really happy production wise.

V: 你的Logo设计很简单，但这种设计风格是我个人最喜欢的。谁为你设计了这个Logo？你的专辑封面设计也很漂亮。谁为你设计了这件艺术品？

Your logo design is very simple, but this design style is my personal favorite. Who designed this logo for you? Your album artwork is also beautifully designed. Who designed this artwork for you?

L: 我们很高兴你喜欢它：对于Logo，我们要求一些最小但优雅的东西，我们第一眼就喜欢这个结果！这件艺术品表达并象征着这一概念的内容！两者都是由我们的制作人Mat Stancioiu实现的，他也做了图形！

We're glad you like it: for the logo we asked for something minimal but elegant and we liked the result at first sight! The artwork expresses and symbolises the content of the concept! Both were realised by our producer Mat Stancioiu, who also did the graphics!

V: 你们乐队的音乐主题是什么？你为什么选择这个音乐主题，你想通过这个音乐主题表达什么？你还创建了歌词部分。谁创作了这些歌词，是什么启发了他？

What is the music theme of your band about? Why did you choose this music theme, and what do you want to express through this music theme? You also created the lyrics section. Who created these lyrics and what inspired them?

L: 正如我之前所说，我负责概念的发展，从Salvo的想法开始，然后我和罗比一起工作，Roby负责最终的草稿，重新安排一切！基本上，这个概念的主题（将在下一张专辑中结束）的灵感来自阿瑟·柯南·道尔等作家的作品：目标是将惊悚元素与冒险元素结合起来！主角，一个我们称之为“普通人”的人，在追求渴望已久的和平的过程中，将发现自己不得不在西西里岛（意大利南部）和美国之间旅行，在那里一个意想不到的真相将考验他。身体之旅将是他成长和成熟的内在旅程的平衡。

As I said before, I took care of the development of the concept, starting from a Salvo's idea and then I worked with Roby who took care of the final draft rearranging everything! Basically, the theme of the concept (which will end in the next album) is inspired by the work of writers like Arthur Conan Doyle: the goal was to combine the thriller element with the adventure element! The protagonist, a man we would call 'ordinary', in pursuit of a longed-for peace, will find himself having to travel between Sicily (Southern Italy) and the United States, where an unexpected truth will put him to the test. The physical journey will be a counterbalance to his inner journey of growth and maturation.

V: 首先祝贺贵乐队发行首张官方专辑"There and Back"。这是一部非常美丽和舒缓的作品，旋律优美，即兴重复段朗朗上口。有些部分充满了重金属风格的力量，但大多数段落都非常愉快和舒缓，听起来非常舒适。你对自己的工作有什么看法？

First of all, congratulations to your band for releasing their first official album "There and Back". This is a very beautiful and soothing work, with beautiful melodies and catchy riffs. Some parts are full of the power of Heavy Metal style, but most paragraphs are very pleasant and soothing, making it sound very comfortable. What is your opinion on your own work?

S: 我想你明白了！我们演奏复杂的音乐，但最重要的部分总是旋律。在我们看来，There and back有许多声音和部分的细微差别需要一点一点地发现，这就是我特别欣赏prg音乐的地方，顺便说一句，每首歌都有很多声乐技巧。

I think you got it! We play maybe complex music, but the most important part is always the melody. In our opinion, There and back has many nuances of sounds and parts to be discovered little by little, and this is what I particularly appreceate of prg music, by the way every song has lots of vocal hooks.

L: 非常感谢！我们都认为这是我们职业生涯中最好的作品！事实上我们认为我们已经成功地将金属元素与Fates Warning和Queensryche等乐队的前卫优雅相结合，对我们非常有影响力！音乐服务于歌曲，服务于叙事时刻的情绪：我们满意了！

Thank you so much! we all agree that this is the best work of our careers! we think, in fact, that we have managed to combine the metal element with that of the prog elegance of bands such as Fates Warning and Queensryche, very influential for us! The music is at the service of the song, of the mood of the narrative moment: we are satisfied!

V: 你的专辑是在Underground Symphony发行的，这在你的国家是一个很好的唱片公司。你是如何与这家厂牌建立联系和合作的？你对这家厂牌的工作满意吗？

Your album was released on the Underground Symphony label, which is an excellent label in your country. How did you establish contact and collaborate with this label? Are you satisfied with the work of this label?

S: 我们大多是Underground Symphony的Maurizio的朋友。我和Luca为他制作了一系列象牙唱片，Roby在他之前的乐队Dark Horizon也做得很好，所以我们很自然地为这个品牌发行了Shady Lane的首张专辑。当我在找歌手时，Maurizio告诉我Roby是一个完美的选择，他是对的！

we are mostly friends with Maurizio from Underground Symphony. Me and Luca did a bunch of Ivory albums for him and Roby did as well with his previous band Dark Horizon, so it was very natural for us releasing the Shady Lane debut for this label. When I was looking for a singer Maurizio told me about Roby as a perfect choice, and he was right!

V: 你的乐队参加过现场表演吗？2025年有什么音乐节邀请你参加吗

Have your band ever participated in live performances? Are there any music festivals in 2025 that invite you to attend

R: 不像黑巷。我们都有很长一段时间的现场经验，但目前我们正在等待与Shady Lane一起登上舞台的合适机会。当然对于一个新乐队来说，节日或类似的事情是最好的。让我们等待，与此同时我们已经在制作第二张专辑，这将是抒情概念的第二部分，也是最后一部分。

not as Shady Lane. We all have a long time live experience, but at the moment we are waiting for the right opportunity to hit the stage with Shady Lane. Festivals or things like that would be, of course, the best thing for a new band. Let's wait and meanwhile we are already working on the second album wich will be the second and final part of the lyrical concept.

Shady Lane is a very young band, but you have a very promising future. I will always support and follow your band. I also hope to attract more Chinese fans to follow and support your band through this interview. Do you have anything to say to Chinese fans in the end?
