今天采访到的是来自乌克兰的一支新成立不久的Atmospheric Black Metal乐队Fade Dreams，期初只是作为DEF / LIGHT的分支乐队，2024年Void和Avel将这支乐队作为最主要的项目并且开始创作，主要的创作理念为乐队成员的个人经历，思想为主，今年乐队刚刚发布了他们的第一张正式专辑“Fading Dreams of Youth”，这是一张制作精良，有着浓重氛围的作品，也是今年我个人认为最出色的一张Atmospheric Black Metal专辑，凄凉，阴暗的氛围给人一种灭世的感觉，缓慢，冰冷的Riff，仿佛经历了一场世界末日的感觉，沉重，缓慢的鼓点更是营造出清冷的美感，歌手冷酷，无情的演唱仿佛一种身处在痛苦，无奈的世界当中一般，作为一支新乐队他们的这张专辑绝对是一张经典的作品，如果你想感受一下Fade Dreams末日的感觉得那么请一定要注意“Fading Dreams of Youth”这张专辑，在前不久乐队的歌手Avel与杂志取得联系进行了一次专访！

Today's interview is with Fade Dreams, a newly formed Atmospheric Black Metal band from Ukraine, initially started as a DEF / LIGHT offshoot, but in 2024 Void and Avel made this band their main project and started to work on it, with the main creative concept being the band members' personal experiences, thoughts and ideas. This year the band has just released their first official album ‘Fading Dreams of Youth’, a well-produced, atmospheric piece of work and one of the best Atmospheric Black Metal albums of the year in my opinion. The bleak, dark atmosphere gives a feeling of extinction, the slow, cold riffs, as if experiencing an apocalyptic feeling, the heavy, slow drums create a cold aesthetic, the singer sings coldly and relentlessly as if he is in a world of pain and helplessness, as a new band this album is definitely a classic, if you want to feel the feeling of Fade Dreams doomsday you have to do it. Hello brother, nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview! I think this is the first time you guys have been interviewed by a Chinese magazine. First of all, say hello to the Chinese fans. Fade Dreams was formed in what year? How did you come up with the idea for the band?
A: 中国的朋友们好！我们很高兴在这么远的地方还有人对我们的音乐感兴趣——这是一个极大的荣誉。本质上讲Fade Dreams是DEF / LIGHT的两位音乐家的一个分支。我们在今年早些时候将这些分支整合在一起，我们的音乐想法自然就产生了。这个项目充满了情感，都来自于我们的个人经历。我们所要做的就是调整我们的思想和感觉来理解我们想要创造的音乐。
Hello to our friends in China! We’re thrilled that there’s interest in our music from such a distant place — it’s a huge honor. Essentially, Fade Dreams is a side project by two musicians from DEF/LIGHT. We put the project together in just a few days earlier this year, and the ideas for our sound came naturally. This project is full of emotions, all born from our personal experiences. All we had to do was tune into our thoughts and feelings to understand the music we wanted to create.
V: 你们乐队只有两名成员，而且你们都是原始成员，这样写歌会很容易吧？你能告诉我们一些你写歌的过程吗？
There are only two members in your band, and you're both founding members, which seems like it would make songwriting easier. Can you tell us a little bit about your songwriting process?
A: 是的，当然没问题。Void是一位了不起的音乐家和作曲家。我负责歌词，声部和专辑封面。我们都是经验丰富的音乐家，拥有强大的创新背景，而我们一起创作的也很简单：我们互相尊重并且每个人都做好自己的部分，尽全力做到最好。
Yes, it’s very convenient. Void is an amazing musician and composer. I handle the lyrics, vocal parts, and album art. We’re both seasoned professionals with strong creative backgrounds, and working together is simple: we respect each other and each focus on our own parts to deliver the best.
V: 你的第一张正式专辑"消逝的青春梦"是一张非常好的唱片。你在哪个录音棚录的？谁制作了这张专辑？
Your first official album "Fading Dreams of Youth", was a very good recording. Which studio did you record it in? Who produced the album?
A: 我们在自己的录音室里录制了这张专辑并自己制作。Void做出了巨大的贡献，承担了几乎所有的事情，从录音到混音。我在我的家用录音室里录制了人声，而Void干了其它的事情
We recorded the album in our own studio and produced it ourselves. Void made an enormous contribution, taking on nearly everything, from recording to mixing. I recorded the vocals at my home studio, while Void did all the rest.
V: 谁设计了你们乐队漂亮的标志和专辑封面？这是我见过的最漂亮的艺术品之一。
Who designed your band's beautiful logo and your album artwork? It’s some of the most beautiful artwork I’ve ever seen.
A: 听到这样的话，我特别开心！我处理乐队的所有美术和视觉效果，旨在通过伴随着音乐的图像将我们的概念和氛围带入生活。
It’s nice to hear such kind words! I handle all the artwork and visuals for the project, aiming to bring our concept and atmosphere to life through the imagery that accompanies our music.
V: 你的音乐主题是什么？你为什么选择这个音乐主题，你想通过它表达什么？你也创作了歌词；是谁写的，灵感是什么？
What is the theme of your music? Why did you choose this musical theme, and what do you want to express through it? You created the lyrics as well; who wrote them, and what was the inspiration?
A: 在这个项目中，音乐是关于情感和经历的——忧郁、悲伤和渴望。我写的所有歌词都是基于我个人的想法和情感。如果说DEF / LIGHT从书籍、科学家和哲学家的作品中汲取灵感，那么Fade Dreams则纯粹是在表达我们的内心世界和情感。比如说有些歌曲是关于失去所爱的人（比如我的母亲）日常生活的单调，创作的挣扎，倦怠以及我们失去童年快乐的感觉。
In this project, the music is about feelings and experiences — melancholy, sorrow, and longing. I wrote all the lyrics based on my own personal thoughts and emotions. If DEF/LIGHT draws inspiration from various sources like books and the works of scientists and philosophers, then Fade Dreams is purely about expressing our inner worlds and emotions. There are songs about losing loved ones (like my mother), the monotony of daily life, the struggles of creatives, burnout, and a sense that we’ve lost the happiness we had as children.
V: 你们乐队的首张正式专辑目前只有电子版。你有接触过唱片公司发行CD版本吗？
Your band's first official album is currently only available digitally. Have you approached any labels about releasing a CD version?
A: 我们很想发行实体专辑并很有可能在2025年发行。虽然我们现在还不能确定，但我们正在尽力去做。
We’re very interested in releasing physical copies, and there’s a strong chance we’ll make it happen in 2025. We can’t promise anything yet, but we’re doing all we can to bring this to life.
V: 你的新专辑“Fading Dreams of Youth”今年刚刚发行，我对这张专辑中冰冷、末日般的氛围印象深刻。一开始美妙的键盘就像是你音乐世界的序曲。气氛缓慢而寒冷，伴随着无情的riff和美妙的旋律。精确的鼓声和人声增添了一种绝望的感觉。
Your new album “Fading Dreams of Youth”, was just released this year, and I was very impressed with the cold, apocalyptic vibe of the album. The beautiful keyboards at the beginning felt like a prelude to your music’s world. The atmosphere is slow and cold, with relentless riffs and beautiful melodies. The precision of the drums and the vocals add a feeling of despair.

Is there anything else your band will be working on in 2024 besides releasing a new album? Can you reveal anything to us?
A: 2024年我们将专注于我们的主要项目DEF / LIGHT，我们将在2025年初开始制作第二张Fade Dreams的专辑。
In 2024, we’ll be focusing on our main project, DEF/LIGHT, and we’ll start working on the second Fade Dreams album at the beginning of 2025.
V: 你们的乐队很年轻，你们参加过音乐节或者现场演出吗？你能分享一些难忘的演出吗？
Your band is a very young band, but have you played any festivals or live shows yet? Could you share any memorable performances?
A: 与DEF / LIGHT和其他团体一起，我们已经在欧洲巡演和演出了很多次。但Fade Dreams目前还没有进行现场演出，只有在战争结束后才能开始准备演出吧。
With DEF/LIGHT and other groups, we’ve already toured and performed a lot in Europe. However, we haven’t performed live as Fade Dreams yet, and we’ll only be able to do so after the war ends.

Fade Dreams is a very promising band. Your work is one of the best I’ve heard this year. I will always support and follow your band, and I hope more Chinese fans will support you too. What would you like to say to your Chinese fans?
A: 亲爱的中国朋友们，感谢你们对我们的音乐感兴趣。令人难以置信的是，我们的情感和想法在如此遥远的地方与你产生共鸣。音乐是一种无国界的语言，也许在我们悲伤和安静的时刻，你会发现一些真实而贴近你的心的东西。我们希望有一天我们能见到你，现场演奏我们的歌并亲自感谢你的支持。多保重即使在你最艰难的时候，也愿你的世界里永远有光明和希望。
