今天采访到的是来自意大利的Power / Progressive Metal乐队Walls of Babylon，组建于2012年的Walls of Babylon，在组建之后乐队在2013年更换了几名成员，新成员加入乐队之后再长达几年的时间，乐队发行了第一张正式专辑“The Dark Embrace”这张专辑由乐队自助发行，发行之后这张专辑深受好评，优质的编曲，优美的旋律，录音上乘，这张专辑发行之后意大利的Revalve Records厂牌与乐队合作发行了第二张专辑，这张专辑更是受到了更多的歌迷关注和支持，同时也得到了更多音乐节的邀请，也让更多其他国家的歌迷认识了这支乐队，2025年乐队发行了第四张正式专辑，在新专辑发行之际杂志乐队的成员取得联系进行了一次专访！

The Power/Progressive Metal band Walls of Babylon from Italy was interviewed today. Founded in 2012, the band changed several members in 2013. After the new members joined the band, it took several years for them to release their first official album "The Dark Embrace". The album was self released by the band and received high praise for its high-quality arrangement, beautiful melody, and excellent recording. After its release, Revalve Records in Italy The label collaborated with the band to release their second album, which received more attention and support from fans, as well as invitations to more music festivals and introduced the band to fans from other countries. In 2025, the band released their fourth official album, and on the occasion of the release of the new album, members of the magazine band contacted each other for an exclusive interview!

V: 你好兄弟，很高兴见到你，非常感谢你参加这次采访，想这是你们乐队第一次接受中国杂志的采访。首先向所有中国歌迷朋友们问好。Walls of Babylon成立于2012年，是一支历史悠久的乐队。你最初是怎么组建这个乐队的？

Hello brother, nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview. I think this is the first time your band has been interviewed by a Chinese magazine. First of all, I would like to say hello to all Chinese fans and friends. Walls of Babylon was founded in 2012 and is a long-standing band with a long history. How did you form this band in the first place?

G: 嗨，我的朋友，很高兴和你谈谈。我是Valerio，来自walls of babylon的歌手，首先我想向所有中国歌迷问好，也非常感谢你们。嗯，当Francesco想演奏他写的一些新东西并开始寻找一些音乐家时，Walls of babylon就建立了。当时我和Francesco已经加入了一个名为“Death riders”的乐队，但由于其他成员之间的距离问题，我们停止了这个项目，所以当他在寻找歌手时，他来找我介绍这个全新的乐队。我们一开始的目的是在排练室演奏，喝点啤酒，玩得开心，和乐队的其他成员一起创造合适的节奏。

HI my friend, nice to have this talk with you . I’m Valerio , singer from walls of babylon and first of all i want to say hello and thank you very much to all Chinese fans too. Well, walls of babylon were founded when Francesco wanted to play some new stuff he wrote , and begin to find some musician. At that time me and Francesco were already in a band called “Death riders” but due to matter of distances between the other members we stopped that project, so when he was searching for a singer he came to me to present this brand new band. Our purpose at the very beginning was about to play in a rehearsal room, drink some beer , have fun and create the right groove with the other members of the band.

V: 现在只有Francesco Pellegrini和Fabiano Pietrini是乐队的第一代成员，其他成员在2013年被替换。为什么第一代成员离开了乐队？新成员是如何加入乐队的，你对他们的工作满意吗？

Now only Francesco Pellegrini and Fabiano Pietrini are the first generation members of the band, and the other members were replaced in 2013. Why did the first generation members leave the band? How did the new members join the band and are you satisfied with their work?

G: 正如我所说，Francesco和Fabiano创办了乐队，但其他成员一旦找到，总是一样的。我、Francesco, Fabiano, Marco和o是Walls of babylon，我们为此感到非常自豪，因为对我们来说，这不仅是一个乐队，也是一个兄弟会。

As i said Francesco and Fabiano started the band but the other members , once found , were always the same. Me, Francesco, Fabiano, Marco and Matteo are the Walls of babylon and we are very proud of this because , for us , its not only a band, but a brotherhood.

V: 你们已经认识很多年了，是很好的朋友，所以你们创作作品会更方便，因为你们可以根据自己的想法创作歌曲。你能介绍一下你的创作过程吗？你在创作新专辑时遇到过瓶颈吗？

You have known each other for many years and are very good friends, so it will be more convenient for you to create works because you can create songs according to your own ideas. Can you introduce your creative process? Have you encountered any bottlenecks in the creation of your new album?

G: 我们的创作过程始于Francesco，他录制了一些吉他线和歌曲的结构，然后我们每个人都用他的个人观点和对自己角色和乐器的想法来填充它。这是一种非常直接的方式来写专辑，而且它总是没有瓶颈。我们的第一个敌人是时间，因为我们每个人都忙于自己的生活，在工作、育儿和其他日常事务之间。音乐是我们的激情所在，每次我们有时间，我们都会用它来写作、演奏和唱歌。

Our creative process begins with Francesco , that record some guitar lines and the structure of the song, then everyone of us filled it with his personal view and ideas for his part and instrument. Its a very straight way to wrote an album and it works always without a bottleneck. Our first enemy its time , cause everyone of us is very busy with his own life, between work, Childs and other daily stuff . Music its our passion and every time we find some time , we use it to write, play and sing.

V: 你的每一张专辑都有很好的录音效果。你在哪个录音室录制了这张专辑？哪位制作人为你制作了这张专辑？新专辑的录制过程进展顺利吗？

Each of your albums has excellent recording effects. Which studio did you record the album in? Which producer made the album for you? Is the recording process of the new album progressing smoothly?

G: Francesco是我们的录音室录音、制作人和评论家。他20岁开始学习家庭录音，年复一年，一张又一张专辑，他在家里成为一名非常专业的录音师，我们每个人都在录制他的部分。我们留给其他工作室的唯一部分就是专辑的母带制作。对于《相隔千年》，我们选择了统治工作室和伟大的西蒙·穆拉罗尼来创造我们一直在寻找的正确声音。

Francesco is our studio recording, producer and critic. He begins to study home recording at the age of 20 and year after year, album after album he became a very professional recording at his house, were everyone of us record his part. The only part we left to other studios is the mastering of our albums. For “aeons apart” we choose Domination studios and the great Simone Mularoni to create the right sound that we were searching for.

V: 你的音乐主题是什么，你为什么选择这个音乐主题，你想通过这个音乐主题表达什么？你还创建了歌词部分。谁创作了这些歌词，是什么启发了他？

What is your music theme about, why did you choose this music theme, and what do you want to express through this music theme? You also created the lyrics section. Who created these lyrics and what inspired them?

G: 我是第一个歌词作者，我总是试图谈论人类的情感，比如愤怒、绝望，但也有希望。我们庆祝面对真相和生活所需的斗争。对于“Aeons apart”，我们选择让我们的朋友兼作曲家Marco Ricco来创作背景和歌词，因为我们非常喜欢他的作品，我们想为我们的上一部作品增添一些外部元素。在这张专辑中，前8首歌曲是“故事”，每首歌曲都有不同的背景和人物，一个吸血鬼，一个星际赏金猎人，一个古代骑士ecc。最后一首歌“epilogue”揭示，这些故事中的每个人都来自一个作家，他更喜欢讲述过着无意义的生活的故事，在他生命的最后，他把每个角色都变成了他最好的朋友。

I’m the first lyrics writer and I always try to talk about human feelings like anger, desperation but also hope. We celebrate the struggle needed to face the truth and life. For “Aeons apart” we choose instead to let our friend and composer Marco Ricco to create the settings and the lyrics because we are very fans of his works and we wanted to give an external touch to our last work. In this album the first 8 tracks are “tales” each one with different setting and character, a vampire , an intergalactic bounty hunter, an ancient knight ecc. The last song “ epilogue”, reveals instead that everyone of this tales are from a writer that prefer to tell stories that living a meaningless life and on his bed, at the end of his time he tanks everyone of his character to be the very best friends of him.

V: 你的乐队成立于2012年，但你的作品直到2015年才发行。是什么让你选择在三年后发布你的作品？

Your band was founded in 2012, but your works were only released in 2015. What caused you to choose to release your works three years later?

G: 是的，三年时间组建一支乐队，结交一群朋友，成就一番事业。我们不后悔任何一天，任何一个月。音乐——它的激情、乐趣、一种将人们联系在一起的统一旋律……而且并不急于追求。

Yes , three years to make a band, to make a group of friends, to make a groove. We don’t regret any days , any month of it. Music its passion, fun, a unifying melody that bind people together…and there is no rush for it.

V: 你是如何与Revalve Records和Wanikiya Record建立联系并合作发行作品的？你对这两个品牌的运作是否满意？

How did you establish contact and collaborate with Revalve Records and Wanikiya Record for the release of your works? Are you satisfied with the work of these two brands?

G: 我们与唱片公司的合作总是始于邮件往来，分享作品与歌曲……我们非常满意，首先是对我们所属的Wanikiya唱片公司及其负责人杰克先生，他始终友善且随时待命。我们是一支默契的团队

Our collaborations with labels started always with emails, sharing our stuff and songs and so it goes…We are satisfied , first of all with our actual label Wanikiya and with his owner Mr Jack , always kind and available. We are a good team

V: 你们乐队的标志设计很简单，但这种设计形式是我个人最喜欢的，因为我很容易记住你们乐队的名字。谁为你设计了这个标志？你的专辑艺术品设计得很漂亮。谁为你设计了这些专辑艺术品，是什么启发了他们？

The logo design of your band is very simple, but this design form is my personal favorite because I can easily remember your band name. Who designed this logo for you? Your album artworks are designed very beautifully. Who designed these album artworks for you and what inspired them?

G: 我们的吉他手Francesco不仅是一位伟大的作曲家和录音师，也是制作我们标志的平面设计师。正如你所说，我们正在寻找一些简单但直接和难忘的东西。他还设计了“Aeons apart”的艺术品，而“fallen”的艺术品则是由伟大的Carlos Fides手工绘制的。

Our guitarist Francesco is not only a great composer and recorder but also a graphic designer that made our logo. As you said we were searching for something simple but direct and memorable. He designed also the artworks on “Aeons apart” , while for “fallen” it was drawn by hand by the great Carlos Fides.

V: 首先，祝贺你们乐队今年发行了最新专辑。你的作品非常令人兴奋，你可以感觉到你非常专注，有精彩的编排、优美的独奏、精确的打击乐器、清晰干净的歌声。你对自己的作品有什么看法？新专辑和旧专辑之间有什么变化吗？

First of all, congratulations to your band for releasing their latest album this year. Your works are very exciting, and you can feel that you are very dedicated, with wonderful arrangements, beautiful solos, precise percussion instruments, clear and clean singing. What is your opinion on your own works? Is there any change between the new album and the old album?

G: 非常感谢你的话。对我们来说，“Aeons apart”是一个新的开始，在疫情爆发后的几年里，我们想在第一次听的时候创造一些直截了当、令人愉快的东西，你可以一个接一个地合唱，在我们看来，我们做到了。我们为此感到非常自豪，我们希望尽可能多的人能听它并给我们反馈，这样我们就可以尽可能地继续创作和演奏我们的音乐。我们非常喜欢我们过去的专辑，我们仍然喜欢它们的复杂性和进步性，但现在我们觉得有必要用即兴重复段、节奏和独奏来直面现实。

Thank you very much for your words. For Us “Aeons apart” it’s a new beginning, after the pandemic years we wanted to create something straight and enjoyable at the first listen, something that you can sing chorus after chorus, and in our opinion we did it. We are very proud of it and we hope that as many people as possible can listen to it and give us his feedback so that we can keep going on writing and playing our music as best as possible. We love our past albums too obviously and we still love their complexity and progressive parts, but now we feel the need to be straight in the face with our riff, groove and solos.

V: 作为一支经典的老乐队，你们参加了许多音乐节。哪些音乐节给你留下了深刻的印象？你能介绍一下当时的现场气氛吗？2026年你还计划参加哪些音乐节？

As a classic old band, you have participated in many music festivals. Which music festivals have left a deep impression on you? Can you introduce the live atmosphere at that time? What other music festivals are you planning to participate in in 2026?

G: 我们参加了许多节日和演出，每个人都很棒。在生活中，我们发现自己是音乐家和充满激情的人，他们想通过音乐来表达自己。希望今年我们能参加世界各地的许多节日

We played in many festival ang gigs and everyone of it were great. In live we find ourself as musicians and passionate people who want to express himself through music. Hope this year we could play in a lot of festival around the world

You are a very excellent band, and I will always support and follow your band. I also hope to attract more Chinese fans to follow and support your band through this interview. The interview is coming to an end, do you have anything you want to say to Chinese fans at the end?
