今天采访到的是来自美国的Progressive Metal乐队，组建于2011年的Dyed in Grey乐队由Pete Luetzeler和Adam Edgemont组建，在组建两年之后乐队于2013年发行了第一张正式专辑“The Abandoned Part”，这张专辑发行之后便受到很多歌迷的喜爱和关注，快速，复杂的编曲，连续的Riff贯穿着整张专辑，可以感受到吉他手的技术精湛，鼓手精准，快速的打击，而且变化丰富，凶狠的演唱和干净的清唱也是他们作品中最大的亮点，随后乐队陆续发行了多张作品，也获得了广泛的好评，今年乐队也刚刚发布了最新专辑“Harbinger”，新专辑的发行受到更多歌迷的关注，在新专辑发行之际杂志与乐队取得联系进行了一次专访！！

Today's interview was with Progressive Metal, a band from the United States. Dyed in Grey, formed in 2011 by Pete Luetzeler and Adam Edgemont, released their first official album "The Abandoned Part" in 2013 after two years of formation. After its release, the album received a lot of love and attention from fans, with fast and complex arrangements and continuous riffs running through the entire album. You can feel the guitarist's superb skills, drummer's precise and fast strikes, and rich variations. Their fierce singing and clean vocals are also the biggest highlights of their works. Subsequently, the band has released multiple works, which have also received widespread praise. This year, the band just released a new album. The latest album 'Harbinger', The release of the new album has attracted more attention from fans, and on the occasion of the album's release, the magazine contacted the band for an exclusive interview!!

Hello brother, nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview. I think this is the first time your band has been interviewed by a Chinese magazine. First of all, I would like to say hello to all Chinese fans and friends. When was Dyed in Grey founded and how did you organize it?

D: 你好！首先我想感谢你选择为我们撰写报道。看到我们的音乐能够传达到世界各地的听众手中，这真是太棒了。“Dyed in Grey”乐队最初成立于2011年，当时我们的原吉他手Adam Edgemont与Pete Luetzeler在纽约布鲁克林相遇并组建了这支乐队。

Hi, I would first like to say thank you for choosing to interview us for your publication. It is great to see our music reach people across the globe. Dyed in Grey first came to be around 2011 when our original guitarists Adam Edgemont met Pete Luetzeler met in Brooklyn, NY and started the band.

V: 你们乐队中有多少名成员？你们都是第一代成员吗？你们是否曾更换过乐队成员？第一代成员为何离开乐队？新成员是如何加入乐队的？你对新成员的工作是否满意？

How many members are there in your band? Are you all members of the first generation? Have you ever changed band members? Why did the first generation members leave the band? How did the new members join the band? Are you satisfied with the new member's job?

D: Adam是乐队中唯一剩下的原始成员。我们的贝斯手Paul Loew于2013年加入乐队（当时正值我们首张专辑"The Abandoned Part"录制完成后），他是除Adam之外在乐队中待时间最长的成员。在乐队的历史中，我们曾经历过几次阵容变动。我们的前三张录音作品都由Travis Orbin担任鼓手，而多年来我们也曾更换过几位现场演出的鼓手。Pete大约在2015年离开了乐队，因为他搬回了他原本所在的德国，而我们的原主唱Mark Wellington也在2017年离开乐队（因为他也搬了家），这使得演出变得困难。至于目前的阵容，我们对乐队的凝聚力感到非常满意并认为我们最新的作品是迄今为止最好的音乐。

Adam is the only remaining original member of the band. Our bassist Paul Loew came into the band in 2013 just after the recording of our debut album "The Abandoned Part" and is the longest tenured member aside from Adam. We have had a few lineup changes throughout the bands history. Our first three recordings featured Travis Orbin on drums, and we had a few drummers throughout the years for live performances. Pete left the band around 2015 because he moved back to Germany where he was originally from and our original singer Mark Wellington left the band in 2017 also after moving which made performing difficult. As for the current lineup we are extremely happy with the cohesiveness of the band and feel our latest release is our best music to date.

You have released many albums, and you can feel that you are a group of experienced musicians. Can you introduce your creative process?

D: Adam是乐队中的主要歌曲创作者和作曲者。典型的创作流程是：Adam负责编写吉他部分和歌曲的结构，然后乐队的其他成员在此结构基础上创作自己的部分。这一流程对我们来说非常有效，因为每个人都能通过亚当提出的结构参与到歌曲的创作过程中。

Adam is the main song writer and composer in the group. The typical process is Adam writes the guitar parts and structure of the songs and then the rest of the group builds their parts off of that structure. It is a process that works well for us as everyone gets input into the creation of the songs through the structure Adam puts forth.

V: 你的专辑具有极佳的录音效果。你是在哪个录音室录制这张专辑的？是谁为你制作了这张专辑？

Your album has excellent recording effects. Which studio did you record the album in? Which producer made the album for you?

D: 我们所有的专辑都是在各自家中自行录制的（除鼓声外，鼓声是在录音棚中录制的）。"Harbinger"中的鼓声是在纽约艾弗里顿市的“The Koop”录音棚中录制的。Adam还担任了该专辑的制作人。

All of our albums are self recorded at our respective homes except for drums which are done in a studio. The drums for Harbinger were recorded at "The Koop" in Irvington, NY. Adam also produced the album.

Your logo design is very beautiful. Who designed this logo for you? Your album artwork is definitely the most beautiful artwork I have ever seen. Who designed these artworks for you?

D: 乐队的标志和专辑封面是由乐队的贝斯手Paul Loew设计的。作为独立艺术家，我们在创作专辑时会尽可能自己完成尽可能多的工作。

The bands logo and album cover were created by the bands bassist Paul Loew. As independent artists we try to do as much as we can ourselves in the creation of our albums.

All of your albums are digital versions released by yourselves. Have you ever released a physical album? Have you ever considered collaborating with a label to release an album?

V: 你的音乐主题是什么？你为什么选择了这个音乐主题？你希望通过这个音乐主题表达什么？你还创作了歌词部分。这些歌词是由谁创作的？是什么启发了他们？

What is your music theme about, why did you choose this music theme, and what do you want to express through this music theme? You also created the lyrics section. Who created these lyrics and what inspired them?

D: "Harbinger"的总体主题是情感问题（如焦虑和抑郁）的斗争。这些歌曲试图传达这些问题可能引发的不同情绪感受：有时愤怒，有时狂躁，有时忧郁...歌词主要由主唱Andres Arcentales创作，Paul和Adam也提供了一些帮助。歌词的灵感主要来源于我们目前所处的社会状况。

The overarching theme of "Harbinger" is the struggle of emotional issues such as anxiety and depression. The songs try to convey the different feelings these issues can produce. Sometimes angry, sometimes manic, sometimes melancholy... The lyrics were mainly written by vocalist Andres Arcentales with a little help from Paul and Adam as well. The lyrics were mainly inspired by the state of society we are currently in.

Your works have left a deep impression on me. You use a lot of Progressive elements, which makes your arrangement complex, full, and beautiful melodies very attractive. What is your opinion on your own works?

D: 我们当然非常喜爱我们创作的音乐，并为此感到自豪。

we definitely really love the music we create and are proud of it.

V: 你是否参加过任何让你印象深刻的现场演出？你能描述一下当时的情景吗？2026年你还有哪些其他现场演出需要表演？

Have you participated in any live performances that left a deep impression on you? Can you introduce the atmosphere at that time? What other live performances do you have to perform in 2026?

D: 我们为"The Forgotten Sequence"举办的唱片发布派对可能对我来说是我们的最难忘演出之一。这场演出是在我们的家乡纽约市举行的，我们邀请了一支非常出色的乐队阵容与我们同台演出，我们非常享受与他们一起登台表演的时光。这是一场整体上非常愉快的夜晚，充满了积极向上的氛围。目前我们尚未安排近期的演出，但希望我们很快就能重新登上舞台。

Our record release party for "The Forgotten Sequence" probably stands out to me as one of our more memorable shows. It was in our hometown NYC and we had a great lineup of bands playing with us that we really enjoyed sharing the stage with. It was just an overall very fun night with great positive vibes. As of now we have no shows planned for the immediate future but hopefully we will be stepping back on stage soon.

Do you have any new jobs to do in 2026? For example, when creating or recording new songs, can you share some information with everyone?

D: 截至目前，我们已有一些新素材正在着手进行创作，我们还曾讨论过推出一张EP（迷你专辑）的设想，其中将包含一些从未收录在我们专辑中的歌曲，以及一些我们重新编排过的歌曲。

As of now we have some new material we are starting to work on and we have been throwing around the idea of putting out an EP of a few songs that never made it to our albums along with a few that we reworked.

You are a group of talented musicians, and I will always pay attention to and support your band. I also hope that through this interview, more Chinese fans can get to know you. The interview is coming to an end, do you have anything you want to say to Chinese fans and friends at the end?
