天葬 - 瑞士Brutal Death Metal乐队Consumed by Vultures专访

今天采访到的是来自瑞士的Brutal Death Metal乐队Consumed by Vultures，成立于2013年，目前保持着第一代成员的阵容，只是在2017年新的贝斯手Matteo Valenti加入乐队，2015年乐队发行了第一张EP专辑“Demonstration of negative way”，这是一张非常技术化的作品，乐队始终保持在中慢速的段落，甚至还有一些Slam的段落，让这张专辑更加的沉重，两名主唱在喉音和尖叫中来回演唱，让Consumed by Vultures的作品透露出一丝恐怖，Sick感觉，鼓手稳定，精准的鼓点表现的非常出色，这张EP专辑的发行也吸引到了更多的关注，来自捷克的Nice to Eat You Records便是其中一员，2017年发行了Consumed by Vultures乐队的第一张正式专辑“In Eterno”，也是这张专辑让他们成为了更多音乐节邀请的乐队之一，也奠定了他们在瑞典的地位，2019年乐队与更具有规模的厂牌Rising Nemesis Records合作发行了他们的第二张正式专辑“Pseudobiblion”发行了，这张依旧保持着高水准的创作和制作，随后乐队发行了Demo和单曲，2024年乐队的最新单曲“Scissione”发表，在新单曲发表之际乐队也与杂志取得联系进行了一次专访！

Today's interview is with Consumed by Vultures, a Brutal Death Metal band from Switzerland, formed in 2013 and currently keeping the same line-up of the first generation members, only in 2017 new bassist Matteo Valenti joined the band and in 2015 the band released their first EP album ‘Demonstration of negative way’, a very technical piece of work, the band consistently keeps to medium-slow passages and even some Slam passages that add to the heaviness of the album, the two vocalists sing back and forth in guttural and screams that make Consumed With a hint of horror, a Sick feel, and a steady, precise drumming performance from the drummer, the release of this EP has attracted more than its fair share of attention, and Nice to Eat You Records from the Czech Republic is one of them, releasing Consumed by Vultures' first official album, “In Eat You” in 2017. In 2017 Consumed by Vultures released their first official album ‘In Eterno’, which made them one of the more invited bands to festivals and established them in Sweden, and in 2019 the band teamed up with the more established label Rising Nemesis Records to release their second official album ‘Pseudobiblion’ was released, which maintained the same high standard of writing and production, followed by demos and singles, and in 2024 the band's latest single “Scissione” was released. In 2024 the band's latest single ‘Scissione’ was released, and on the occasion of the release of the new single the band got in touch with the magazine for an interview!

V: 你好兄弟很高兴见到你，非常感谢你参加这次采访，我想这是你们乐队第一次接受中国杂志的采访，首先跟中国的乐迷们打个招呼吧，Consumed By Vultures乐队成立于2013年，是一支历史悠久的老牌乐队，当初是谁发起成立这支乐队的呢？

Hello brother nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview, I think this is the first time your band has been interviewed by a Chinese magazine, first of all say hello to the Chinese fans, Consumed By Vultures was formed in 2013, it is a band with a long history of veteran bands, who initiated the formation of this band in the first place?

C: 乐队成立于2013年，由Alex（主唱）和Mattia（吉他和鼓手）组建。

The band was formed in 2013 by Alex (vocals) and Mattia (guitar and drum programming).

V: 你们乐队基本保持了第一代成员的阵容，2017 年才更换了一位贝斯手，第一代贝斯手为何退出乐队？新的贝斯手是如何加入乐队的，你对新成员的表现满意吗？

Your band has basically kept the line-up of the first generation of members, you only replaced a bassist in 2017, why did the first generation bassist quit the band? How did the new bassist join the band and are you happy with what the new member is doing?

C: 第一代贝斯手离开乐队是因为对乐队目标的看法不同。新贝司手Matteo回复了我们在Facebook上发布的寻找贝司手的帖子，但起初我们并没有考虑他，因为他是Cankrena的一员，而我们需要的是百分百致力于Consumed的人。然而在进入录音室录制“In Eterno”之前，我们选择的贝斯手辞职了，于是我们紧急联系了Matteo，他同时也离开了Cankrena。我们与他一见如故，他无疑帮助我们将工作推向了新的高度。

The first bassist left the band due to differing views on the band's goals. The new bassist, Matteo, responded to a Facebook post where we were looking for a bassist, but initially he wasn't considered because he was part of Cankrena, and we wanted someone who was 100% dedicated to Consumed. However, the guy we had chosen in his place quit just before entering the studio to record 'In Eterno', so we urgently called Matteo, who had meanwhile left Cankrena. We immediately got along very well with him, and he definitely helped us take things to the next level.

V: 你们乐队有六名成员，阵容庞大，可以看出你们对作曲非常讲究，能谈谈你们的创作过程吗？我相信你们的创作经验会激励很多年轻音乐家！

There are six members in your band, which is a huge line-up, and you can tell that you are very particular about your compositions, can you tell us a little bit about your songwriting process? I'm sure your compositional experience will inspire many young musicians!

C: 在创作歌曲时，我们总是尝试以乐队的形式进行合作。当然基本想法来自于每个人，但随后我们会共同发展。在这几个月发行的新单曲中，我们选择了一种略有不同的方式：每位乐队成员创作一首个人单曲，然后将其改编为 Consumed 风格。我们之所以决定这样做，是因为我们很想知道，我们的各种个人音乐影响会将这些歌曲带向何方以及我们如何还能让它们带有乐队的印记。

We always try to collaborate as a band when writing songs. Of course, the basic ideas come from each individual, but then we develop them together. With the new singles we're releasing in these months, we've chosen a slightly different approach: each band member composed a 'personal' single, which was then 'adapted' to the Consumed style. We decided to do this because we were curious to see where our various personal musical influences would take these songs and how we could still give them a band imprint.

Your band's work is excellent when it comes to recording, what studio did you record the album at? Which producer produced your album? Which studio did you record the new single you just released this year?

C: "In Eterno“和”Pseudobiblion"是在朋友的录音室（Brainscan）录制的，混音和母带制作由Christian Donaldson，Cryptopsy 的吉他手完成。在COVID期间我们翻新了排练场所的录音室，因此新单曲完全由我们自己录制并得到了朋友Baba的大力协助。在混音和母带制作方面，我们根据每首单曲作曲人的个人品味选择不同的专业人士，我们从未与制作人合作过。

'In Eterno' and 'Pseudobiblion' were recorded at a friend's studio (Brainscan), while the mix and mastering of both were done by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy's guitar player). During the COVID period, we renovated the recording studio at the place where we rehearse, so the new singles were recorded entirely by us, with the huge help of our friend Baba. For the mix and mastering, we are choosing different professionals based on the personal taste of the composer of each single. We have never worked with a producer.

V: 你们乐队的Logo是我见过的设计最独特的乐队之一，他的大致轮廓是一只鹰，是谁为你们设计了这个Logo？你们的专辑封面设计也很精美，是谁为你们设计的专辑封面？

Your band's logo is one of the most uniquely designed bands I've ever seen, his rough outline is an eagle, who designed this logo for you? Your album artwork is also beautifully designed, who designed the album artwork for you?

C: 我们的Logo是一只秃鹰，是由Rudi Yanto（Rudi Gorging Suicide）设计的，他还设计了“Demonstration of Negative Way”EP的封面。“In Eterno”的封面由John Quevedo Janssens设计，而“Pseudobiblion”则由 Eliran Kantor 设计。目前我们新单曲的封面由我们多才多艺的好友 Baba（Studio B13）设计。

Our logo is a vulture and was designed by Rudi Yanto (Rudi Gorging Suicide), who also designed the cover of the 'Demonstration of Negative Way' EP. The cover of 'In Eterno' was created by John Quevedo Janssens, while 'Pseudobiblion' was done by Eliran Kantor. The covers for our new singles have, for now, been designed by our valuable and versatile friend Baba (Studio B13).

V: 死亡、毁灭、混沌、创造、人性、阴谋论是你们乐队音乐的一些主题，你们为什么要寻找这些主题，你们想通过这些主题表达什么？你们还创作了歌词部分，这些歌词是谁写的？

Death, Destruction, Chaos, Creation, Humanity, Conspiracy theories are some of the themes of your band's music, why do you look for such themes and what do you want to express through such themes? You also write the lyrics section, who writes these lyrics and what inspires him?

C: 我们的歌曲总是以这样或那样的方式讲述我们每天看到的身边发生的事情。歌词主要由两位歌手创作。在“Pseudobiblion”中，我们决定继续讲述“In Eterno”中的生物故事，歌词的结构以但丁的《神曲》为基础，甚至使用了韵律行（英语为10个音节，意大利语为11个音节）

Our songs, in one way or another, always talk about what we see happening around us every day. The lyrics are mainly written by the two singers. For 'Pseudobiblion', we decided to continue the story of the creature from 'In Eterno', structuring the lyrics based on Dante's Divine Comedy, even using metrical lines (10 syllables for English and 11 for Italian).

V: 你们的乐队曾在Rising Nemesis Records和Nice to Eat You Records发行过专辑，你们是如何与这两家唱片公司取得联系并进行合作的？你们对这两个厂牌的工作满意吗？

Your band has released albums on Rising Nemesis Records and Nice to Eat You Records, how did you get in touch with these two labels to collaborate? Were you happy with the work on both labels?

C: 关于Nice to Eat You我们是通过社交媒体取得联系的，而关于RNR我们与Carnal Decay合作过（Rising Nemesis的Nasar也是乐队成员之一），在交谈过程中他给了我们一个在他们名册上的位置。当时这两家唱片公司都给了我们很大的帮助，但在积累了经验并学会了如何处理事情之后，我们决定暂时保持独立。

For 'Nice to Eat You', we got in touch through social media, while for “RNR”, we played with Carnal Decay (Nasar from Rising Nemesis is part of the band), and during our conversations, he offered us a spot on their roster. Both labels definitely gave us a big help at that time, but after gaining experience and learning how to navigate things, we decided to stay independent, for now.

V: 首先祝贺你们今年发行了最新单曲，你们是一支非常有技术含量的乐队，复杂的编曲、快速连续的旋律和一些很酷的旋律都给我留下了深刻的印象，你们有两位歌手，两位歌手的演唱都非常棒，你们对自己的作品有什么看法？新专辑与旧专辑相比有什么变化吗？

Firstly congratulations on the release of your latest single this year, you're a very technical band, I'm very impressed with the intricate arrangements, fast, continuous riffs and some cool melodies, you're a two singer band and the vocals from both singers are fantastic, what do you think of your work? Has anything changed on the new album compared to the old one?

C: 我们对自己的作品几乎总是百分百满意，有两位歌手肯定是个优势尤其是在现场。新单曲不拘泥于特定的概念，给了我们更多的自由来充分表达我们的个人影响和品味，这是一种独特的体验。不过我们已经开始为“Pseudobiblion”的续集出谋划策，这将使我们回归到更Consumed的风格。

We are almost always 100% satisfied with our workand having two singers is for sure a plus especially live. The new singles, not being tied to a specific concept, gave us more freedom to fully express our personal influences and tastes, and it was a unique experience. However, we’re already starting to come up with ideas for the continuation of 'Pseudobiblion', which will bring us back to a more 'Consumed' style.

V: 你在2024年发行了一首单曲，这是否意味着你即将发行新专辑？能向大家透露一些信息吗？我非常期待你们的新作品！

You released a single in 2024, does this mean you're about to release your latest album? Can you reveal some information to the crowd? I'm really looking forward to your new work!

C: 2024年我们发行了之前提到的个人风格的第一支单曲。这首单曲由Tim作曲，然后由我们乐队共同完成。我们的想法是发行7首单曲，每位乐队成员一首，Baba一首。如果这些单曲反响不错，我们将把它们集结成实体EP；否则它们将只能通过流媒体播放。如前所述我们已经开始考虑下一张LP。

In 2024, we released the first single from this 'personal vein' mentioned earlier. This single was composed by Tim and then worked on together as a band. The idea is to release 7 singles, one for each band member and one for Baba. If the singles get a good response, we’ll collect them into a physical EP; otherwise, they will remain available only on streaming. As mentioned, we’re already starting to think about the next LP.

V: 作为一支优秀的乐队，你们参加过很多音乐节，哪些音乐节给你们留下了深刻印象，能描述一下音乐节的氛围吗？

You've played a lot of festivals as a band, what festivals have impressed you and can you describe the atmosphere and what other festivals you've been invited to in 2024?

C: 我们喜欢参加的每一场音乐会。我们相信地下音乐会/音乐节的氛围是无与伦比的，每次我们都能收获新的友谊和体验。如果你来到瑞士，一定要去看看Rock The Hell、Conquering Basilea、Slam Cult等音乐节，最后但并非最不重要的是我们的小型音乐节Vultures Night，这已经是第三届了。

We’ve loved every single concert we've been part of. We believe that the atmosphere at underground concerts/festivals is unmatched, and every time we come back home enriched with new friendships and experiences. If you ever find yourself in Switzerland, you definitely should check out Rock The Hell, Conquering Basilea, Slam Cult, etc., and last but not least, our small festival Vultures Night, which is already in its third edition.

V: Consumed by Vultures是一支非常优秀的乐队，我会一直支持和关注你们的乐队，我也希望通过这次采访能有更多的中国乐迷关注和支持你们的乐队，最后你有什么想对中国乐迷说的吗？

Consumed by Vultures is a very good band, I will always support and follow your band, I also hope that through this interview more Chinese fans will follow and support your band, do you have anything you want to say to your Chinese fans in the end?
