今天采访的是来自西班牙的Melodic Doom / Death Metal乐队Golgotha，组建于1992年Golgotha由Vicente组建，由于Vicente一直痴迷于欧洲的Doom / Death Metal乐队，随着乐队雏形完成，陆续其他的成员也分别加入乐队，1993年乐队发行了第一张Demo作品，阴郁而忧伤的旋律，Death Metal的凶狠让这支乐队迅速在西班牙传播，到了歌迷的认可，1995年发行的第一张专辑“Melancholy”更是得到了更多歌迷的认可和关注，随着其他的专辑陆续发行乐队也被更多其他国家的歌迷认识，同时也成为了更大重要音乐节邀请对象，1998年乐队宣布解散，直到2005年乐队才重新组建并且发行了新专辑，但是张张专辑发行之后乐队再次宣布解散，2014年乐队再次回归，2024年乐队发行了最新专辑“Spreading the Wings of Hope”，前不久杂志与乐队的创始人Vicente取得联系进行了一次专访！

Today's interview features Golgotha, a Melodic Doom/Death Metal band from Spain. Formed in 1992 by Vicente, the band took shape as Vicente—a lifelong devotee of European Doom/Death Metal acts—gradually recruited additional members. In 1993, the band released their first demo. Its gloomy, melancholic melodies combined with the ferocity of Death Metal quickly spread the band's name throughout Spain, earning them fan recognition. Their debut album “Melancholy,” released in 1995, garnered even greater acclaim and attention from fans. As subsequent albums followed, the band gained recognition among fans in other countries and became a sought-after act at major music festivals. In 1998, the band announced their dissolution. It wasn't until 2005 that they reunited and released a new album. However, after each subsequent album release, the band announced another breakup. They returned once more in 2014, and in 2024, they released their latest album, “Spreading the Wings of Hope.” Recently, our magazine connected with the band's founder, Vicente, for an exclusive interview!

Hello brother, it's nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview. I think this is the first time your band has been interviewed by a Chinese magazine. First of all, let's say hello to all Chinese fans and friends. Golgotha band was founded in 1992 and is a long-standing band with a long history. Who proposed the formation of this band?

G: 能向中国所有乐迷和朋友致意，我深感荣幸。多年前启动这个项目时，我从未想过我们的音乐能传播得如此之远，与不同文化背景的人们产生共鸣。当感受到末日氛围与我们表达的情感在遥远之地引发共鸣时，这份体验对我们而言格外珍贵。Golgotha的诞生源于强烈的个人需求。年轻时的我痴迷于欧洲Doom/Death场景中那些阴郁而忧伤的声响，却找不到能精准传达我心声的音乐项目。于是决定迈出这一步，从零开始组建一支具有鲜明特质的乐队：缓慢、厚重、充满情感的音乐，既饱含悲伤又蕴藏美感。最初我们是一群因沉思金属而结缘的挚友。虽然创意源于我，但很快便演变成集体创作。纵使岁月让我们分道扬镳，那些初创时期的精神内核依然鲜活。

It is a great honor for me to greet all the fans and friends in China. I never imagined, when I started this project so many years ago, that our music would travel so far and resonate with people from such different cultures. For us it is very special to feel that doom and the emotions we express find an echo in distant places. Golgotha was born from a very intense personal need. I was a young musician passionate about the darker, more melancholic sounds coming from the European doom/death scene, but I couldn’t find a project that expressed exactly what I wanted to communicate. So I decided to take the step and create a band from scratch with that identity: slow, heavy, emotional music filled with sadness but also with beauty. In the beginning we were a group of friends united by the love of introspective metal. The original idea was mine, but it quickly became a collective project. Even though time has separated our paths, the spirit of those early days is still alive.

V: 你们乐队如今只剩下Vicente一位原始成员，其他成员都已更换。第一代成员为何离开乐队？新成员是如何加入的？你对新成员的工作表现满意吗？

Your band now only has one original member, Vicente, and all the other members have been replaced. Why did the first generation members leave the band? How did the new members join the band? Are you satisfied with the new member's job?

G: 确实如今我是唯一的创始成员，但我从未将Golgotha视为个人项目。生活本就不断变化。九十年代成员们年轻时，各自肩负着不同的责任、工作、学业……难以始终维持乐队所需的投入程度。有人开启新项目，有人迁居他乡，有人失去热情。并非存在重大矛盾——只是时间自然流逝的结果。新成员的加入非常自然：有相识多年的本地音乐人，有热爱我们音乐并渴望参与的乐手，还有些人因共享艺术敏感度而几乎命中注定地加入。有了他们Golgotha获得了巨大成长。我深感欣慰。每位新成员不仅带来技术造诣与创造力，更重要的是他们与Golgotha核心精神的情感共鸣。

It’s true that I am now the only original member, but I have never seen Golgotha as an individual project. Life simply changes. In the 90s the members were young, each with different responsibilities, jobs, studies… and it was not always possible to maintain the level of commitment that a band requires. Some started other projects, others moved away, others lost motivation. There were no major conflicts—just the natural passage of time. The new members arrived in a very organic way: local musicians I had known for years, others who loved our music and wanted to be part of it, and some who joined almost by destiny because they shared the same artistic sensitivity. With them, Golgotha has grown tremendously. I am more than satisfied. Each new member brings technical skill and creativity, but most importantly, an emotional connection to the essence of Golgotha.

V: 你们乐队的每位成员都是拥有丰富创作经验的音乐人。能否谈谈你们的创作历程？相信你们的创作经历会为更多年轻音乐人带来启发！

Each member of your band is a musician with rich creative experience. Can you introduce your creative experience? I believe your creative experience will bring inspiration to more young musicians!

G: 我的创作历程与时间紧密相连。三十余载的作曲生涯中，人生每个阶段都深刻影响着我的创作方式。早期我深受欧洲厄运/死亡金属乐风塑造：Paradise Lost、My Dying Bride、Anathema……这些乐队让我领悟到，当悲伤被真诚表达时，亦能绽放美丽。这些年来，我探索过旋律金属、氛围音乐，甚至另类摇滚。这些经历让我获益良多，也让我明白创作绝不该局限于单一类型。我想对年轻音乐人说：技巧固然重要，但情感才是核心。找到你内心的声音，聆听多元风格，不要害怕在音乐中展现脆弱。

My creative experience is deeply tied to time. I’ve been composing for more than 30 years, and every stage of my life has influenced the way I write. At the beginning I was shaped by the European doom/death sound: Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Anathema… bands that showed me that sadness can be beautiful when expressed honestly. Over the years I’ve explored melodic metal, atmospheric music, and even alternative rock. All of this has enriched me and taught me that creativity should never be confined to one genre. To young musicians I would say: technique is important, but emotion is everything. Find your inner voice, listen to many styles, and don’t be afraid to be vulnerable in your music.

V: 你们乐队每张专辑的录音效果都有显著进步，这与时代背景密切相关。请问专辑是在哪家录音室完成的？由哪位制作人操刀？

The recording effect of each album by your band has made significant progress, which is closely related to the era. Which studio did you record your albums in? Which producer made the album for you?

G: 我们的早期作品是在非常有限的资源下录制的，这在90年代很常见。我们使用当地小型录音室和简陋设备，但始终怀揣着热情。随着时间推移，我们逐渐接触到更先进的技术并遇到了真正理解我们风格的制作人。近年合作的工作室和制作人深谙捕捉我们情感深度之道——既能呈现旋律与厚重感的张力，又能营造我们追求的浓郁氛围。每张专辑不仅体现技术层面的成长，更展现乐手们对表达意图的清晰认知。

Our early works were recorded with very limited resources, as was common in the 90s. We used small local studios with modest equipment, but always with passion. Over time we gained access to better technology and producers who truly understood our style. In recent years we’ve worked with studios and producers who know how to capture our emotional depth—the contrast between melody and heaviness, the dense atmospheres we aim for. Each album reflects growth not only technologically, but also in our clarity as musicians about what we want to express.

V: 你们乐队的Logo设计非常简洁，但这种设计形式正是我个人最喜欢的，因为能让我轻松记住你们的名称。这个Logo是谁设计的？你们的专辑封面设计也非常精美，这些作品的设计师是谁？他的灵感来源是什么？

The logo design of your band is very simple, but this design form is my personal favorite because I can easily remember your names. Who designed this logo for you? Your album artworks are also beautifully designed. Who designed these artworks for you? What does his inspiration come from?

G: 我们的原始Logo由乐队挚友设计。我们追求直白简洁的风格，摒弃繁复装饰——追求沉静、幽暗且富有灵性的气质。这种简约是刻意为之，因为我们始终认为视觉上的过度渲染违背了Golgotha乐队内省的本质。至于专辑封面，近年来我们与深谙Doom Metal语言的艺术家合作：孤独感、荒凉景致、神秘氛围、古老符号……他们的灵感常源于自然、哲学、存在主义与精神黑暗。每张封面都讲述着映射专辑灵魂的故事。

Our original logo was designed by a close friend of the band. We wanted something direct, without excessive decoration—something sober, dark, and spiritually inclined. Simplicity was intentional, because we always felt that visual excess goes against the introspective essence of Golgotha. As for the artwork, in recent years we’ve collaborated with artists who deeply understand the language of doom: solitude, desolate landscapes, mystical atmospheres, ancient symbols… Their inspiration usually comes from nature, philosophy, existentialism, and spiritual darkness. Each cover tells a story that reflects the soul of the album.

V: 你们曾与众多顶尖厂牌合作发行专辑。这些合作是如何建立的？对这些厂牌的工作是否满意？

You have collaborated with many great labels to release albums. How did you establish contact and collaborate with these labels? Are you satisfied with the work of these brands?

G: 这些合作以多种形式展开。有时是我们主动联系唱片公司；有时则是他们听过我们的音乐或看过现场演出后主动联系。金属圈子很小，人际关系至关重要。我们很幸运能与尊重艺术理念并给予实质支持的厂牌合作。每家厂牌各有优势与局限，但总体而言我们很满意。最珍视的是音乐理念的纯粹性，这一点始终得到尊重。

These collaborations came in many different ways. Sometimes we contacted labels ourselves; other times they reached out after hearing our music or seeing us live. The metal world is small, and personal connections matter a lot. We’ve been fortunate to work with labels that respected our artistic vision and gave us real support. Every label has its strengths and limitations, but in general we’re satisfied. What we value most is maintaining musical integrity, and that has always been respected.

V: 哲学、忧郁、情感是你的音乐主题。为何选择这个音乐主题？你想通过这个主题表达什么？你还创作了歌词部分。这些歌词由谁创作？创作灵感来自哪里？

Philosophy, Melancholy, Feelings are your music themes. Why did you choose this music theme? What do you want to express through this music theme? You also created the lyrics section. Who created these lyrics and what inspired them?

G: 哲学与忧郁始终是我生命的一部分。我对生活怀有极强的内省视角，不断思索苦难、时光流逝、人类的脆弱以及意义的追寻。厄运金属正是表达这些的完美载体：缓慢、深邃、沉思，充满情感的细腻层次。多数歌词出自我的笔下，偶有他人参与创作。我的文字始终源于个人经历、深沉情感与哲学阅读。灵感来自痛苦、宁静、沉思，以及暗夜深处隐藏的美。我并非寻求答案——只愿分享疑问。

Philosophy and melancholy have always been part of who I am. I have a very introspective view of life, constantly reflecting on suffering, the passage of time, human fragility, and the search for meaning. Doom is the perfect language for that: slow, deep, contemplative, full of emotional nuance. I write most of the lyrics, though sometimes others have contributed. My words are always inspired by personal experiences, deep emotions, and philosophical readings. Inspiration comes from pain, serenity, reflection, and the beauty hidden in the darkest moments. I don’t seek to give answers—only to share questions.

V: 你们的乐队两次解散，1998年你们第一次接受，直到2005年才重组？2005年发行专辑后，你们再次解散，直到2014年才重新组建乐队。是什么原因导致乐队解散又重组？

Did your band disband twice, the first time in 1998 and only reassemble in 2005? After releasing an album in 2005, you disbanded this time and only re formed the band in 2014. What caused you to disband and reorganize the band?

G: 是的，我们经历过两次重大分歧。第一次是1998年。那时我们年轻，资源匮乏，维持乐队运转需要付出巨大努力。每个人都有不同的优先事项，最终难以继续下去。2005年我们满怀激情重组并推出极具意义的专辑，但个人生活再次成为延续的阻碍。当时间、金钱与责任压得人喘不过气时，光靠热情往往不够。但Golgotha从未在我心中消亡。2014年我决定以更成熟、更稳定、更清晰的姿态回归。这个新纪元已成为乐队史上最坚实且最具创造力的阶段。

Yes, we had two major breaks. The first was in 1998. We were young, we lacked resources, and maintaining the band required an enormous effort. Everyone had different priorities, and eventually it became impossible to continue. We reunited in 2005 full of energy and released a very meaningful album, but once again personal lives made continuity difficult. Sometimes passion is not enough when time, money, and responsibilities are overwhelming.

But Golgotha never died inside me. In 2014 I decided to return, with more maturity, stability, and clarity. This new era has become the most solid and creative stage in our history.

V: 首先恭喜你们的乐队在2024年发行新专辑。你们的创作极度注重旋律性，而融入Doom元素后，旋律变得忧郁、庄重、荒凉且充满悲观色彩，让我能轻松沉浸其中。Death Metal的吉他riff令作品更显凶猛。你如何评价自身创作？新旧专辑间有何变化？

First of all, congratulations to your band for releasing a new album in 2024. Your work places great emphasis on melody and with the introduction of elements of misfortune, your melody becomes very melancholic, solemn, desolate, and pessimistic, making it easy for me to enter your work. The Riff of death metal makes your work even more ferocious. What is your opinion on your own work? Is there any change between the new album and the old album?

G: 非常感谢。这张新专辑完美平衡了我们的根源与进化历程。它保留了Golgotha乐队一贯的忧郁精髓，同时以更精炼的制作、更厚重的音墙和更成熟的创作手法呈现。更具攻击性的吉他段落与旋律性氛围段形成鲜明对比。对我而言，Doom Metal需要在美与残暴、光明与黑暗之间取得平衡。与早期专辑相比，差异显而易见。我们已非90年代那群盲目探索情感的年轻乐手，如今拥有经验、掌控力与创作方向。但核心始终未变：表达深沉的情感。

Thank you so much. This new album represents a very special balance between our roots and our evolution. It maintains that melancholic essence that has always defined Golgotha, but with a cleaner production, a denser sound, and more mature songwriting. The more aggressive riffs give contrast to the melodic and atmospheric parts. Doom, to me, needs that balance between beauty and brutality, between light and shadow. Comparing it to our earlier albums, you can clearly feel the difference. We are no longer the young musicians of the 90s experimenting blindly with emotion. Now we have experience, control, and direction. Yet the essence remains the same: expressing deep emotions.

V: 作为一支资深乐队，你们参与过众多音乐节。哪些音乐节给你们留下深刻印象？能否描述当时的现场氛围？2026年还有哪些音乐节计划参与？

As an old band, you have participated in many music festivals. Which music festivals have left a deep impression on you? Can you introduce the live atmosphere at that time? What other music festivals are you planning to participate in 2026?

G: 我们参加过各种规模的音乐节——从大型户外盛会到小型亲密场馆。有些演出令人终生难忘。我记得那些观众完全沉浸其中的演唱会：柔和段落时全场静默，重型吉他riff响起时又爆发出澎湃能量。那种情感共鸣难以言表。音乐节的规模并非关键；有时小型活动的氛围如此浓烈，足以令人终生难忘。2026年我们正与多家欧洲音乐节洽谈，期待尽快公布具体日期。我们的目标是让新专辑抵达尽可能多的城市。

We have played at all kinds of festivals—big and small, outdoors and in intimate venues. Some shows were truly unforgettable. I remember concerts where the audience was completely immersed, silent during the softer passages and erupting with energy when the heavy riffs came in. That emotional connection is indescribable. It’s not always about the size of the festival; sometimes a small event can have an atmosphere so intense that it stays with you forever. For 2026 we are in talks with several European festivals, and we hope to announce dates soon. Our goal is to bring the new album to as many places as possible.

V: 2026年你们有哪些新计划？比如创作并录制新专辑？能否和大家分享些信息？

What new work do you have to do in 2026, such as creating and recording a new album? Can you share some information with everyone?

G: 2026年我们准备了非常特别的惊喜。事实上，新专辑的录制工作已全部完成，我在此确认它将于2026年4月正式发行。我们无比激动，因为这无疑是我们迄今为止最完整、最成熟的作品之一。这张新专辑承前启后，既延续了戈尔戈塔乐队标志性的忧郁、厚重、情感内核，又清晰展现出我们的突破性进步。作品层次更深邃，段落衔接更流畅，制作工艺让每种情感细微差别都得以清晰呈现。我们探索了全新的音色与氛围，并大胆运用了前所未有的动态对比：极具私密感的段落与极致沉重的乐章形成强烈反差，吉他与人声在此达到近乎仪式般的炽烈强度。这并非颠覆性变革，而是合乎逻辑的进阶——如同前作开启了一扇门扉，而新作正自信地穿行其间。更多戏剧张力、更绚烂的华美、更深邃的黑暗……以及更臻平衡的整体。喜爱前作的乐迷将在新专辑中发现更深邃、情感更丰沛的Golgotha。我们已迫不及待要在2026年4月与大家分享这份心血。

In 2026 we have something very special prepared. In fact, we have already finished recording a new album, and I can confirm that it will be released in April 2026. We are extremely excited because we believe it is one of the most complete and mature works we have ever created. This new album represents a natural evolution from the previous one. It maintains the melancholic, heavy, emotional essence that defines Golgotha, but at the same time you can clearly feel that we have taken a step forward. The compositions are deeper, the transitions more fluid, and the production allows every emotional nuance to emerge with much greater clarity. We have explored new textures and atmospheres, and we have played with dynamics that we hadn’t used as strongly before: very intimate moments that contrast with extremely heavy sections where the guitars and vocals reach an almost ceremonial intensity. It is not a radical change; it is more like a logical progression—as if the previous album opened a door and this one walks through it with confidence. There is more drama, more beauty, more darkness… and also more balance. Those who enjoyed the last album will find in this new one a deeper and more emotionally expansive version of Golgotha. We can’t wait to share it with all of you in April 2026.
