今天采访到的是来自美国的Thrash Metal乐队Violent By Nature，组建于2018年的Violent By Nature乐队其实是2020年才组建的，由Kevin Jimenez，Thor Thatcher，Jessie Campos，Nick Poblete组建，不过在组建之前乐队已经在2019年发行了两张Demo作品，2020年发行了单曲“Afterbirth”2021年乐队在Road Rat Records厂牌发行了一张两首歌的EP专辑，2025年乐队与Gutted Records厂牌合作发行了第一张正式专辑“To Live and Die in LA”，强劲有力的音色，如同剃刀一般，复杂的编曲，歌手嗯演唱非常具有穿透力，在新专辑发行之际，杂志与乐队取得联系进行了一次专访！

Today's interview was with Thrash Metal band Violet By Nature from the United States. The band, formed in 2018, was actually formed in 2020 by Kevin Jimenez, Thor Thatcher, Jessie Campos, and Nick Poblete. However, before their formation, the band had already released two demo works in 2019 and a single "Afterbirth" in 2020. In 2021, the band released a two track EP album on Road Rat Records. In 2025, the band collaborated with Gutted Records to release their first official album "To Live and Die in LA", which has a powerful and razor like sound. The complex arrangement and the singer's performance are very penetrating. On the occasion of the release of the new album, the magazine contacted the band for an exclusive interview!

Hello brother, nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview. I think this is the first time your band has been interviewed by a Chinese magazine. First of all, let me say hello to all Chinese fans and friends. Violet By Nature was founded in 2018 and is an old band with 8 years of history. How did you form this band in the first place?

B: 乐队实际上成立于2020年，我，Thor Thatcher，之前有一个不同的乐队，其中一些歌曲被转移了。我最初在其他一些没有去任何地方的乐队演奏，所以我开始控制音乐，给音乐一些方向。所以随着时间的推移，我一直在继续。

The band was actually formed in 2020 I, Thor Thatcher, had a different band before hand that some of the songs transferred over. I originally played in some other bands that didn't go anywhere so I started taking control to give the music some direction. So as time's gone on I've kept it going.

Kevin Jimenez joined the band in 2020, why did the first generation guitarist leave the band? How did Kevin Jimenez join the band? Are you satisfied with the new member's job?

B: Kevin已经离开乐队多年了，但他是我在学校时认识的一个人，他和我一样喜欢类似的音乐，并且会弹吉他。

Kevin hasn't been in the band for years but he was someone I knew from school that liked similar music to me and played guitar.

V: 你们每个人都是有丰富创作经验的音乐家。你是如何创作歌曲的？你能介绍一下你的创作过程吗？我相信你的创作经验会给更多的年轻音乐家带来灵感！！

Each of you members is a musician with rich creative experience. How do you create songs? Can you introduce your creative process? I believe your creative experience will bring inspiration to more young musicians!!

B: 在很大程度上，我承担了大部分的写作工作。其他成员有时会添加一些想法，我觉得这些想法与我塑造的声音效果很好，我们有时可以让它发挥作用。

For the most part it's me who does most of the writing. Other members will at time add ideas that I feel work well with the sound I've molded and we sometimes can make it work.

Your logo design is very simple, but this design form is my personal favorite because I can easily remember your name. Who designed this logo for you? Your album artworks are designed in a very unconventional way. Who designed these album artworks for you? What does his inspiration come from?

For some of our releases the art was made from people I've known in other bands like Plagued Society which was made by Gerimi who's currently playing guitar in Hirax. But the current logo and art for To Live And Die In LA was made by an artist that goes by Dystopian Destroy on Instagram. When revamping the logo I wanted it to be sort of in a crust style as well as looking like the crown of thorns that Jesus wore on the cross. For the album cover it was art he had already made but fit perfectly with how it has the skull that looks like out sort of mascot figure with everything that looks like a rotten city.

Gutted Records, Road Rat Records, and other labels collaborate with you for distribution; How did you collaborate with these labels on the album? Are you satisfied with the work of these brands?

B: 有了这些厂牌，还有Morning Star Heresy, Grimace records，还有一个我宁愿不提。他们做得很好，让我们从他们各自的市场和销售中得到了一些关注。我们绝对愿意在未来与他们或其他厂牌合作。

With those labels as well as Morning Star Heresy, Grimace records, and one more I'd rather not mention. They've done good work with getting us some attention from their individual markets as well as sales. We're definitely open to working with them or other labels in the future.

Social critique, Violence, and Death are your music themes. Why did you choose this music theme? What do you want to express through this music theme? Who created the lyrics and what inspired them?

Most of the lyricism came from myself but some of the earlier songs had some assistance from members back when we were writing the demos. When it comes to the themes it honestly is just what tends to pop into my brain when writing, whether it's exploring feelings surrounding death, war, social decay, violence, or anything else. The newer songs we'll be releasing to into exploring suicide, addiction, loneliness, and depression alongside the previous themes

V: 你的作品充满了快节奏的利福，精准的鼓手，快速的打击，和强大的歌手。你对自己的作品有什么看法？新作品和旧作品之间有什么变化吗？

Your works are filled with fast-paced Riff like a razor, precise drummers with quick strikes, and powerful singers. What is your opinion on your own works? Is there any change between the new work and the old one?

I'm quite happy with how my previous releases turned out especially given the circumstances at the time with my life and the bands unsure future at that point. The releases are definitely different from the demos as the drummers are extremely different in style. And the new stuff will sound just a different.

You have participated in many music festivals and small-scale performances. Which performances left a deep impression on you? Can you introduce the live atmosphere at that time? What new performances will you have in 2026?

Here in 2026 we've already done one tour and we're working on more as we're going to be recording new material for the first time in almost three years. To answer the first question, I would say opening for Destruction and nervous for their tour together at the time, as well as Warbringer, and Cavaleras/Soulfly. With the earlier mentioned shows the shut downs and restrictions from COVID were recently lifted or still on everyones mind so things were a bit tense but the crowds were nuts. With the later mentioned shows I got a bit more of a look at higher production tours and how managers do things for those bands so it was a learning experience.

V: 2026年你的乐队将做什么新工作？例如在创作或录制新歌时，你能与每个人分享一些信息吗？

What new work will your band do in 2026? For example, when creating or recording new songs, can you share some information with everyone?

B: 我们目前正在制作新材料，我们甚至录制了一张现场录音，播放了之前的大部分录音以及两首新歌。那场演出也是我们歌曲“Creature Of The Night”的现场首演。这些新歌将探索一些与之前作品相似的主题，但也会探讨抑郁、孤独、孤立、失去身份、自我伤害、自杀和反病态精神主义。

We're currently working on new material, we even recorded a live record where we play most of the previous record as well as two new songs. That show was also the live debut of our song Creature Of The Night. The new songs will explore some of the similar themes from previous works but also depression, loneliness, isolation, lost identity, self harm, suicide, and antidisestablishmentarianism.

As an old band, you have created many classic works, and I will always pay attention to and support your band. I also hope to attract more Chinese fans to pay attention to and support your band through this interview.
