Today, we’re featuring an interview with Necroshade, a new-generation death metal band from France. Formed in 2024, Necroshade is a very young group, originally consisting of Gabriel Larivière, Loïc Lefebvre, David Blanquart, and Wemerson Almeida. They released their first live album in 2024, followed by a single and an EP—the latter to be released via the French label Crypt of Dr. Gore. If you’re a fan of old-school death metal, this is a band you shouldn’t miss. We recently reached out to the band—specifically guitarist Loïc and guitarist/vocalist Gabriel—with the help of Crypt of Dr. Gore, to conduct an exclusive interview!

Hello, brother! It’s great to meet you, and thank you so much for taking part in this interview. I believe this is the first time your band has been interviewed by a Chinese magazine. To start things off, would you like to say a quick hello to all your Chinese fans? Necroshade was formed in 2024—it’s a very young band—so how did you all come together to form it?

L: 你好，Fan，也向所有中国读者问好！首先感谢你们的邀请！我和Gabriel是在社交网络上认识的，很快发现我们听的乐队都一样，而且住得也很近。我们俩都弹吉他，于是就萌生了组建乐队的想法。起初，我们通过翻弹Dismember和Carnage的作品来磨合，同时也在寻找贝斯手和鼓手。后来，Wemerson和David回应了我们在网上发布的招募信息。2025年4月，我们进行了第一次全员排练。

Hello Fan and to all our Chinese readers! First of all thanks for reaching out to us! Gabriel & I met each other on social networks and quickly found out we were listening to the same bands and were living quite close to each other. We were both playing the guitar so we had the idea to start a band. We started by doing covers of Dismember & Carnage, while searching for a bassist and a drummer. Wemerson & David both answered our online ad. We had our first full band rehearsal in April 2025.

V: 你们乐队的成员都是元老级成员，彼此非常了解，也清楚每个人想要创作出什么样的作品。能跟我们聊聊你们的创作过程吗？

The members of your band are all original members; you know each other very well and understand the kind of work each person wants to create. Could you tell us about your creative process?

G: 我们通常都是从吉他部分开始创作的。我个人会在有灵感或状态对的时候拿起吉他，随手录下一些Riff，然后慢慢将其整合，形成一个整体构思。Loïc也有类似的习惯，有时即便手头没有吉他，他也能通过编写吉他谱来创作新的Riff。一旦有了整体构思，贝斯和鼓的部分就会基于吉他编排来构建。人声部分通常放在最后——对我来说，鼓点非常关键，它能帮我确定人声切入的准确位置。等大家都练熟了各自的部分，我们就会聚在一起排练，并根据需要对某些段落或过渡部分进行调整和打磨……

We pretty much always start with guitars, I personally just pick up my guitar when feeling inspired or in the right mindset, recording riffs here and there and slowly building it towards a global idea. I know loïc likes to do the same but sometimes he even writes new riffs through tablatures when he doesn't have a guitar around. The bass and drums are based solely on the guitars once we have our idea of the global composition, vocals pretty much come to the end as I find the drums quite important to help me place my voice in the right spots. Once everyone has learned their parts, we meetup, rehearse and rework some parts or transitions if necessary…

V: 你们作品的制作水准——尤其是录音质量——非常出色。这张专辑是在哪家录音室录制的？由谁担任制作人？新专辑的录音过程顺利吗？

The production quality of your work—specifically the recording—is truly outstanding. Which studio did you use to record the album, and who served as the producer? Did the recording process for the new album go smoothly?

L: 我们没有使用录音室。我们的朋友Julien（他是乐队Skelethal的成员）在他们的排练室里为我们录制了音乐并完成了混音工作。为了让最终音效达到理想状态，我们花了不少时间进行调试，毕竟要驾驭好“HM2”音色（HM2 sound），并让整体听感紧凑扎实，并非易事……

We didn’t use a studio. It’s a friend of ours, Julien (Who plays in the band Skelethal) who recorded our music in his rehearsal place. He also made the mix. It took us some time to have everything to sound correctly, as the HM2 sound is not the easiest to be tight with…

V: 你们乐队成立于 2024 年，但所有作品都是在今年才发布的。是什么原因让你们选择在两年后才发布这些作品呢？

Your band was formed in 2024, yet all of your work has only been released this year. What led you to wait two years before choosing to release your material?

L: 正如之前所提到的，直到2025年4月，乐队阵容才真正齐整。当时我们已经创作了3首原创歌曲，随后我们利用整个夏天创作了更多新作品，并于2025年10月完成了首场演出。

As said earlier, the full band was not complete until April 2025. We had 3 original songs already written at that time, so we spent the summer writing new materials and played our first show in October 2025.

V: 你们的乐队标志设计得非常精美——是谁创作的？它带有一种类似Entombed乐队的风格。你们的专辑视觉设计也同样令人惊艳，尤其是今年新 EP 的封面——这些作品是由谁设计的呢？

Your logo is beautifully designed—who created it for you? It has a bit of an Entombed-like vibe. Your album artwork is also stunning, especially the art for this year’s new EP; who was responsible for designing these pieces?

L: 乐队标志是我们的一位朋友绘制的，其灵感深受该音乐风格领域大师们的影响。至于专辑的视觉艺术作品，则出自才华横溢的Timon Kokott之手！

A friend of ours has drawn the band logo. It is highly inspired by the masters of this style of music.The artwork has been painted by the talented Timon Kokott!

6. 你们今年发布的最新作品是由“Crypt of Dr. Gore”厂牌发行的——这个厂牌的负责人是我的一位好友。你们是如何与他们建立联系并促成这次合作的？对于他们的工作表现，你们满意吗？

Your latest release this year was put out by the label Crypt of Dr. Gore—a label run by a good friend of mine. How did you connect with them to set up this collaboration, and are you happy with the work they’ve done?

Loïc：我们尽可能让一切都在本地地下音乐圈内完成，因为在优秀伙伴的环绕下成长对我们来说非常重要。我们对该厂牌的工作非常满意，这是一次非常开放的合作。Doc Gore 充满热情，而且非常专业。

We are trying as much as possible to make everything within the underground local scene, as it is important for us to grow surrounded by great people. We are happy with the label work as this is a really open collaboration. Doc Gore is really passionate and knows his stuff.

Death, mythology, nature, and metaphysics—these are the themes of your music. Why did you choose these particular themes, and what do you aim to express through them? You also incorporate lyrics into your music; who writes them, and where does the inspiration for these lyrics come from?

G: 歌词主要由我来写，Loïc也写过几首。我的灵感大多来自阅读我所喜爱的其他乐队的歌词；有时，某些歌曲或其中的某个瞬间会特别触动我，让我想要去探讨或深入挖掘这些主题。至于我们的大多数作品，歌词也深受瑞典乐队（如Gorement、Eucharist、N2K2或 Dismember）的影响。此外，在某些情况下，芬兰乐队甚至美国乐队的作品也会给我带来灵感。

I mainly write the lyrics but Loïc has written a few as well, personally inspiration mostly comes from reading lyrics of other bands that I enjoy, sometimes some songs or moments within it just strikes me more than others and I like to talk about it or explore the subject deeper. As for most of our songs, the lyrics are also heavily influenced by Swedish bands such as Gorement, Eucharist, N2K2 or Dismember. But I also find myself inspired by the likes of Finnish bands or even American bands in some particular cases.

V: 首先，祝贺你们乐队今年发布了新作品。显而易见，你们深受瑞典Death Metal，尤其是 Entombed的影响，这一点从你们经典的Riff、歌曲结构以及精彩的吉他独奏中便可窥见一斑，且整体呈现出一种强烈的凶猛感。深沉而充满力量的人声更是为作品增色不少。你们自己对这张最新作品有何感想？

First of all, congratulations on the new material your band released this year. It’s clear that you’ve been heavily influenced by Swedish death metal—Entombed in particular—evident in your classic riffs, song structures, and stellar guitar solos, all delivered with intense ferocity. The deep, powerful vocals further elevate your work. What are your own thoughts on this latest release?

G: 在录音之前，我就对我们的音乐感到非常满意。从创作最初的作品开始，我就意识到它蕴含着巨大的潜力。我从接触音乐起就一直梦想着能加入一支乐队并创作属于自己的作品，所以从某种意义上说，这算是梦想成真了。当所有录音工作完成后，我感到非常欣慰。我觉得预混音的效果就已经很棒了，但听到最终成品时，我还是感到非常惊喜！混音和母带制作确实让这张EP的每一个部分都得到了升华，效果好得超乎预期。Julien在混音方面，以及Chainsaw Recording在母带制作方面，都做得非常出色！

I was super happy with our music before even recording it, I knew it had potential when we started writing our first materials, ever since I started music I wanted to be part of a band and write my own stuff, so it's pretty much a dream come true in some way. I was very pleased once all the recording was done. I think the pre-mix sounded great, but I was really surprised when I heard the final product! The mix and mastering really elevated each segment of the EP, I couldn't have wished for better, Julien and Chainsaw Recording did a great job on the mix and mastering respectively!

V: 尽管你们是一支年轻的乐队，但已经参与过不少现场演出。其中哪几场给你们留下了深刻的印象？当时的现场氛围如何？你们还发行过一张现场专辑——那是你们在参加某场音乐节时录制的吗？

Although you are a young band, you have already taken part in a number of live performances. Which of these left a deep impression on you, and could you describe the atmosphere at those shows? You also released a live album—was that recorded at one of the music festivals you performed at?

L: 确实，自乐队成立以来，我们已经完成了10多场演出。最棒的一场是在比利时的科特赖克，当时我们担任了Crypta乐队的暖场嘉宾，现场观众爆满！还有一场令人难忘的演出是在沃梅尔海姆，当时我们演出进行到一半，因为洪水导致了停电……现场一片漆黑，只有鼓声还在继续响着，哈哈。与其说是“现场专辑”，不如说是一张“现场Demo”。我们当时想有一些音乐作品可以分享，恰好又有机会录下了那场演出。虽然那场演出的表现未必是最完美的，但我们后来还是自己制作了几盘磁带，很快就全部售罄了。

Indeed, we have played more than 10 shows since we started. Our best show was in Kortrijk, Belgium when we opened for Crypta. The crowd was so full ! Another memorable gig was in Wommelgem, we were halfway through our set when a power outage occurred due to floods… everything went dark, only the drum was still sounding ahah. We consider it more as a Live démo than a Live Album. We wanted to have music to share and had the opportunity to record that gig. Not the tightest one. We have then home produced a couple of tapes, which sold out pretty quickly.

V: 你们对2027年还有什么新的计划吗？能跟大家分享一些细节吗？

What other new initiatives do you have planned for 2027? Could you share some details with everyone?

L: 整个2026年，我们一直在创作新歌，并在舞台上进行测试。这些新歌反响不错，所以我们正在筹备首张正式专辑。不过目前还没有具体的计划。

Throughout 2026 we have continued writing new songs and tested them on stage. They had a good response, so we are slowly building our debut album. But nothing planned yet.

V: 虽然你们还是一支年轻的乐队，但展现出了巨大的潜力。我会继续关注并支持你们，也希望通过这次采访，能让更多的中国乐迷注意到你们，并支持你们的音乐。在采访结束之际，你们有什么想对中国乐迷说的吗？

Although you are a young band, you show great promise. I will continue to follow and support you, and I hope that this interview will encourage more Chinese fans to take notice of and support your music as well. As we wrap up this interview, is there anything you would like to say to your fans in China?

G: 我也希望这次采访能让我们的音乐在中国金属乐迷中获得更多关注。感谢每一位读到最后的朋友，我们真的非常感激。我衷心希望中国的朋友们会喜欢我们的EP以及我们未来发布的作品。
