Today's interview is with Enterprise Earth, a technical/Progressive Deathcore band from the United States. Founded in 2014, Enterprise Earth is currently one of the hottest technical/Progressive Deathcore bands in the United States, attracting a lot of attention with their amazing technology. The abundance of Progressive elements makes their works full of beautiful melodies, without lacking the ferocity of Deathcore. Every album released by the band since 2014 has received praise from all fans. In 2026, Enterprise Earth came to Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Tianjin in China to present a wonderful and unparalleled tour performance for Chinese fans. As Enterprise Earth is about to visit China, the magazine, through the Chinese organizer Proustian Music Label, Assisted by Gabriel Mangold, a member of the Enterprise Earth band I conducted an exclusive interview!

Hello brother, it's nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview. You are an excellent band with a large fan base in China. Enterprise Earth was formed in 2014 and this year marks the twelfth year of your band's formation. How was Enterprise Earth originally formed?

Very nice to meet you too! We can’t wait to perform in China for the first time as we hear the fans are very passionate. The band was formed by BJ Sampson and Dan Watson back in 2014. They met on the internet through a mutual friend and proceeded to release the band’s first EP, “23” in October of that same year. They also wrote the band’s first two records Patient 0 and Embodiment before I (Gabe) joined in 2017 and began writing the music. BJ departed in 2019 and Dan left in 2021. In 2021, we had Travis join on vocals, Dakota on bass in 2022 and Aron on drums in 2023 and since then we’ve been operating as a focused unit. We all participate in writing the music and we’re very happy with the current team and where the band is heading.

Why did the first generation members leave the band when your band changed some members? How did the new members join the band? What new changes has the addition of new members brought to the band?

So I’ll just say that being in a full time active touring band is HARD. And anyone who is in a band can attest to that. It’s rarely an easy journey and you have to overcome a lot of obstacles on your way. Sometimes it takes time to find the right people to be in the band and I’m thankful and fortunate to have the great team we have now. In the early, formative years of the band from 2014-2019 there were A LOT of member changes as anyone who has read our Wikipedia page will see. Honestly, the only members that actively contributed during that time were BJ, Dan, and our old drummers Aaron O’Toole and Brandon Zackey, who we’re all still good friends with. The other people that left/were fired in those early years, simply put, weren’t a good fit for the band. BJ left as he was no longer able to tour as he has a family and kids at home. Aaron left because he wanted to start a family. Brandon left because he was offered to play drums for Whitechapel. Dan left because he couldn’t tour during COVID and didn’t want to be in the band anymore. Travis joined in 2021. When Dan was no longer able to tour, he was the only person that I thought could fill the spot well. And fortunately he was able, crushed it, and has firmly added his own creative personality to the band, on vocals and with the music, as we’re now well into the “Travis” era of the band. Dakota joined in 2022. He was a friend of our old sound guy and after one tour with him we knew he was a great fit. Kota also helps write the music now too and he and I make a great guitarist team. Aron first filled in for us in 2023 when Brandon was beginning his Whitechapel gig. He did an amazing job stepping in and is also involved with the creative process and songwriting.

Can you introduce your creative process?

These days the creative process originates in a few ways. Sometimes it’s just a simple riff or general song structure idea, but we’ve been working with treatments/stories that Travis creates too. Descent Into Madness was all started with Travis’ treatment and we created a lot of the music from his visuals. The album we’re currently working on also has a treatment. We really enjoy writing this way as it gives us a road map to work with and helps keep everything consistent.

Each of your albums has excellent recording effects. Which studio did you record the album
in? Which producer made the album for you?

Thanks! I’ve actually been the band’s producer, mixer, and engineer since 2020 and we’ve done it all in house since then. Luciferous in 2019 was the last thing we produced and recorded with an outside producer, Jason Suecof.

What is the music theme of your band about? Why did you choose such a music theme? Your?band also created the lyrics section. Who created these lyrics and what inspired them?

Our sound covers a large spectrum of sounds and genres. Sometimes we feel like it may even be too all over the place! But that’s also what makes it fun for us. I wouldn’t say we chose that theme, we just sort of went with where our creativity was guiding us. However, with Descent Into Madness and our coming album we have created treatments to work alongside which helps keep things more focused and not all over the place. Travis has been the band’s lyricist since 2022 and Dan did everything before that. I really enjoy Travis storytelling, phrasing, and lyrical content. It’s very thought out and poetic.

Your band's logo design is very beautiful. Who designed this logo for you? Your album artworks are also designed uniquely. Who created these album artworks for you?

Thank you. The art and visuals are very important to us and we put a lot of attention and effort into them. Our logo was done by Christophe Szpajdel, AKA “Lord of the Logos”. He’s done many a famous logo and we love his work and working with him. Our current Sigil/Emblem and the last 2 album/EP art releases were done by our now longtime artist collaborator Christopher Maxwell. He’s an amazing artist that practices in multiple mediums and he always seems to nail our vision. He also does a lot of merch designs for us, including the tour shirt we have with us in China.

Your band has collaborated with some excellent labels to release a new album. How did you
get in touch with these labels to collaborate? Are you satisfied with the work of these brands?

We enjoyed our time with MNRK Heavy for 3 of our albums and we’re very thankful for all of the work we’ve done together. However, we’re an independent band now with Descent Into Madness being our first release as an independent artist. It’s been something we’ve wanted to do for awhile and it’s been a very liberating experience so far having all of the control and freedom.

Each of your works is deeply loved by a wide range of fans. Your works are full of technicality and creativity, with complex arrangements and fast, continuous riffs, which are the hallmark of your album. Combined with some avant-garde elements, your works are even more full of
unknowns. The singer's fierce and vicious singing is really impressive. What is your opinion on your own works?

Thank you for the kind words. We really just make honest music that resonates with who we are as people and musicians. Nothing more, nothing less. Sometimes it’s all over the place but that’s also what makes it fun for us. We don’t like being limited to one or two particular sounds and always like to experiment.

We’re fortunate to be friends with Matt Heafy as the world of heavy music is a small place. When we reached out to him we weren’t sure if he would be down but fortunately he was. He was a real pleasure to work with and we can’t thank him enough for his contribution to Curse of Flesh. It was an honor to have a legendary musician that we grew up listening to on a track. He also recorded his part in one take live on Twitch!

As an excellent band, you have participated in many music festivals. Which music festivals have left a deep impression on you? Can you introduce the live atmosphere at that time? Do you have any expectations for your band's upcoming performance in China in 2026?
G: 节日总是很有趣,因为有众多乐队可以观看,还有许多朋友可以一起聚会与此相伴。那么又怎样呢!音乐节是我们迄今为止参加过的规模最大的庆典活动,而且它也是由我们主办的,这可能是我们曾经表演过的最“火热”的一场演出。对于中国而言,我们听说球迷们非常热情。我们迫不及待地期待着这种能量的到来人群:因为我们从这种信息流中汲取养分,这使我们的表现更加出色和激烈。我们非常期待这次新的体验,并对能够拥有这一机会感到非常感激,我已被邀请前往中国进行演出。
Festivals are always fun as there’s so many bands to see and lots of friends to hang out with. So What?! Music Festival was the biggest fest we’ve played so far and was also by far the HOTTEST show we’ve ever played. For China, we hear the fans are VERY passionate. We can’t wait for the energy of the crowd as we feed off of that and it makes us perform better and more intensely as well. We’re very much looking forward to this new experience and are very grateful to have been invited to play in China.

What bands have influenced you? Can you list some bands that you like?

What new work will your band do in 2026? For example, creating, recording new works, or releasing a brand new album?

We’re currently working on a new record as we speak. Hopefully we’ll get it out sometime next year in 2027.
