哥特金属作为金属乐中最独特的流派之一，从90年代诞生之初便一直通过融合丰富的音乐元素不断进化。来自挪威的哥特金属Sirenia自2001年成立以来便始终作为作为哥特金属最先锋的领军乐队之一活跃于世界舞台上。在Srienia的音乐中，来自哥特文化的浪漫与阴郁以及来自金属乐的热烈情感通过音乐有机地融合在一切，形成一种独一无二的听觉感受。通过对各种题材的融合提炼，Sirenia对死亡，爱情，生命等主题进行了深刻，自省的探讨。2026年5月13日，Sirenia即将再次回到中国开启25周年纪念巡演。自九年前Sirenia首次来华之后，这一次，Sirenia将带着一份特别的歌单来到中国。除了部分新歌之外，所有演出曲目将全部来自Sirenia的前四张专辑。在中国巡演开始前，我们有幸与Sirenia创始人Morten Veland进行了一次中国巡演专访。

Gothic metal, as one of the most unique genres in metal music, has been continuously evolving by integrating rich musical elements since its inception in the 1990s. Sirenia, a Gothic metal band from Norway, has been active on the world stage since its establishment in 2001 as one of the leading bands in the forefront of Gothic metal. In Srinia's music, the romance and gloom from Gothic culture, as well as the passionate emotions from metal music, are organically integrated into everything through music, forming a unique auditory experience. Through the fusion and refinement of various themes, Sirenia has conducted profound and introspective discussions on topics such as death, love, and life. On May 13, 2026, Sirenia will return to China once again to embark on her 25th anniversary commemorative tour. Since Sirenia first came to China nine years ago, this time she will bring a special playlist to China. Except for some new songs, all performance tracks will come from Sirenia's first four albums. Before the start of our tour in China, we had the privilege of conducting a China tour interview with Morten Veland, the founder of Sirenia.

V: 你好，非常荣幸可以采访到Sirenia。Sirenia是我最早接触到的哥特金属乐队之一，也是许多中国哥特金属乐迷的领路人。距离上一次与Sirenia见面已经有九年的时间，请先向中国的乐迷们打个招呼吧。

Hello, it’s a great honor to be interviewing Sirenia. Sirenia was one of the first gothic metal bands I ever discovered, and they’ve served as a guiding light for many Chinese gothic metal fans. It’s been nine years since we last met with Sirenia, so please start by saying hello to your Chinese fans.

M: 向所有中国乐迷致以最诚挚的问候和爱意。我们上次在中国巡演时留下了许多美好的回忆。我们期待着再次回到中国，与大家共度更多美好的夜晚。

Cheers and much love to all our Chinese fans. We have many great memories of the previous time we were touring in China. We are looking forward to be back once more to share some great evenings with you all.

V: 这次的巡演也标志着Sirenia诞生的25周年。在这25年中，乐队经历了数次的成员变换，对于Sirenia来说你们最大的变化是什么？始终保持不变的又是什么？

This tour also marks Sirenia’s 25th anniversary. Over the past 25 years, the band has undergone several lineup changes. What has been the biggest change for Sirenia? And what has remained constant?

M: 我认为，对任何乐队来说，最大的变化莫过于主唱的更替。10年前，Ailyn被Emma Zoldan接替。如今，Emma的声音已完美融入Sirenia的主唱声线。自2003年起，她的嗓音便一直是我们专辑中合唱部分的重要组成部分。因此，我们已经合作了23年，这充分证明了我们之间美妙的合作关系。我认为，Sirenia标志性的风格始终是乐队中一贯不变的要素。我们始终致力于让每一张专辑都与众不同，但同时也会忠于我们的音乐理念。

I believe that for every band the biggest change is to change the singer. Ailyn was replaced by Emma Zoldan 10 years ago. Emmas voice is now very well integrated as the lead voice of Sirenia. Her voice has even been a part of the choirs on our albums since 2003. So we have been working together for 23 years already, a great testament to a wonderful cooperation. I think that Sirenia’s signature style has always been the factor that has remained constant. We always try to make every album different from the others, but at the same time we try to remain loyal to our musical concept.

V: 今年也是Emma在Sirenia担任主唱的第10个年头。不过我们知道Emma和Sirenia的合作其实在2016年之前就已经开始了。对于Emma来说，这10年间最大的变化是什么？

This year also marks Emma’s 10th year as the lead singer of Sirenia. However, we know that Emma’s collaboration with Sirenia actually began before 2016. For Emma, what has been the biggest change for her over these past 10 years?

M: 我认为最大的变化，莫过于从合唱团的伴唱歌手，蜕变为乐队的主唱和台前领军人物。此外，她也从仅在录音室工作的乐手，转变为现场演出的重要一员。无论在个人层面还是职业层面，我们都有着非常默契的合作。这一点适用于乐队的所有成员，无论是工作还是工作之余，能一起合作、共度时光总是令人愉悦的。

I believe the biggest change must have been going from being a session singer in the choir to becoming our lead singer and the front lady of the band. Also going from only being a studio musician in the band to becoming a part of our live shows as well. We have a great cooperation both on a personal and professional level. That goes for all the members of the band, it’s always a pleasure working together and spending time together also beside work.

V: 据说你们为了这次的25周年巡演准备了一份特别的歌单，歌单中除了新曲"Callous Eyes"以及"Nightside Den"，其他的歌曲将全部选自Sirenia的前四张专辑，许多的中国乐迷最熟悉的Sirenia歌曲都来自这些专辑。对于这次的演出歌单，乐迷们还有哪些可以期待的？

We’ve heard that you’ve prepared a special setlist for this 25th-anniversary tour. Aside from the new tracks “Callous Eyes” and “Nightside Den,” all other songs will be drawn from Sirenia’s first four albums—the very albums that contain the songs most familiar to many Chinese fans. What else can fans look forward to in this setlist?

M: 是的，我们精心准备了一份特别的周年纪念歌单，除了部分新歌之外，还将演唱乐队前四张专辑中的歌曲，以此来庆祝乐队的成立。这将是歌迷们现场聆听这些经典老歌的绝佳机会，也可能是我们最后一次演唱其中一些老歌了。

Yes, we have put together a very special anniversary set list that celebrates the beginning of the band with the first four albums in addition to some of the newest songs. This will be a great opportunity for our fans to hear some of these old classics live, it might also be the last time that we play some of these older songs.

V: 完成这次巡演的单场演出时长将会接近两个小时。目前你们已经公开的巡演日程来看，这会是一次行程紧张密集的巡演。对于各位参加巡演的乐手们来说，如何在这种高强度的巡演日程中保持精力？

Each show on this tour will run for nearly two hours. Judging by the tour schedule you’ve released so far, this is going to be a very demanding and packed tour. For the musicians participating in the tour, how do you plan to maintain your energy during such an intense schedule?

M: 我们巡演期间的日程通常都很紧凑，这次也不例外。我们会在巡演期间尽力摄取营养丰富的食物并尽可能多地休息。但登上舞台与歌迷互动本身就是巨大的灵感和能量来源。

Our schedules are normally very busy on tour, and this tour will be quite busy as well. We do our best to eat nutricious food while touring and getting rest whenever we can. But going onstage and interacting with our fans is always a huge inspiration and energy boost in itself.

V: 说到新歌曲，大家同样很期待Sirenia即将发行的新专辑"Amanita Messis"。这将会是你们的第十二张录音室专辑。大部分Sirenia的录音室作品都由Morten Veland与乐队现任主唱共同完成，这次的新专辑依然会沿用这样的创作模式吗？

Speaking of new music, everyone is also eagerly anticipating Sirenia’s upcoming album, “Amanita Messis”. This will be your twelfth studio album. Most of Sirenia’s studio work has been co-written by Morten Veland and the band’s current vocalist—will you continue to follow this creative approach for the new album?

M: 是的，我们目前正在制作第十二张专辑，前两首歌曲已经发布。专辑的制作进度比预期稍慢，但我们希望确保每首歌都能精心打磨。只有最完美的作品才够格。我们有一套非常成熟的歌曲创作模式，这是多年来逐步形成的，而这次制作新专辑时，我们依然遵循着这一模式。

Yes, we are working on our twelfth album at the moment, the two first songs are already out. The progress of the album has been a bit slower than anticipated, but we want to make sure that we take our time with every song. Only our very best is good enough. We have a very nice formula for writing the songs, that we have developed over the years, and it’s the same one we follow for this album as well.

V: 最新歌曲"Callous Eyes"中的电子元素非常丰富，也能听到乐队早期的特点，这是否也意味着新专辑"Amanita Messis"大部分歌曲的风格方向？

The new song “Callous Eyes” features a rich array of electronic elements and retains the band’s early sound. Does this also indicate the stylistic direction of most of the songs on the new album, “Amanita Messis”?

M: 我们力求让每首歌都拥有独特的音色和灵魂。这将是一张风格多元、融合多种元素的专辑，涵盖丰富的音乐风格、音色和氛围。我们还有一些歌曲正在创作中，有些已经接近完成，有些则还在创作阶段。

We try to give every song it’s unique sound and soul. It’s going to be a very diverse album with a great variety of styles, sounds and atmospheres. We have more songs on the way which are almost done, and some songs still needs to be written.

V: 爱情，个人的困境，人类内心的负面情绪等等都是Sirenia非常重要的音乐主题。在音乐和歌词上，Sirenia都有诠释忧伤的独特方式。在创作这些歌词时，你认为你更多是作为一个旁观者在讲故事，还是通过音乐表达你的个人经历？

Love, personal struggles, and the negative emotions within the human psyche are all central themes in Sirenia’s music. Both musically and lyrically, Sirenia has a unique way of expressing melancholy. When writing these lyrics, do you see yourself more as an observer telling a story, or as someone expressing your personal experiences through music?

M: 我认为两者兼而有之。

I would say that it is a good combination of both those factors.

V: 许多Sirenia的乐迷也很喜欢Morten Veland的个人计划Mortemia。最近一段时间有许多非常有趣的合作和cover。我非常喜欢Emma-Morten版本的“Riders of the Storm”以及最近公开的新cover歌曲‘Take on me'。可以和我们分享一下你是如何决定翻唱曲目以及如何给不同的翻唱歌曲选择歌手的吗？

Many Sirenia fans are also big fans of Morten Veland’s solo project, Mortemia. There have been a lot of really interesting collaborations and covers recently. I really love the Emma-Morten version of “Riders of the Storm” as well as the recently released cover of “Take on Me.” Could you share with us how you decide which songs to cover and how you choose the singers for different covers?

M: 我为Mortemia挑选的所有翻唱歌曲，都是我与之有着深厚情感联结的曲目，所以这基本上就是我最喜爱歌曲的合集。在创作这些歌曲的个人演绎版本时，我总是会思考哪种嗓音最能与每首歌曲完美契合。我很荣幸能结识该流派中众多杰出的歌手，同时也通过Mortemia有机会认识了更多歌手。这是一个我非常乐在其中的项目，我对Mortemia的未来充满期待。我为这个项目制定了许多计划。

All of the cover songs that I choose for Mortemia are songs that I have a strong relation too, so it’s basically a collection of some of my favourite songs. While working on my own renditions of these songs I always think about which voice would be a perfect match for each given song. I feel privileged to know so many great singers in the genre, and also through Mortemia I got the chance to get to know many more. It’s a project that I really enjoy working on and I feel really excited about the future for Mortemia. I have a lot of plans for this project.

V: Sirenia每个时期的作品都有着不同的特色，回顾你们所有的作品，如果要选出一首你最喜欢的，最令你感到自豪的Sirenia歌曲，你会选择哪一首？

Sirenia’s music has had distinct characteristics in each era. Looking back at all your work, if you had to choose one Sirenia song that you love the most and are most proud of, which one would you pick?

M: 真的很难只选一首歌。我记得创作首张专辑的第一首歌"Meridian"时的那种感觉。我真切地感到，通过这首歌我创造了某种独特而特别的东西，它后来也成为了Sirenia的标志性歌曲。从乐队成立之初，我们几乎在每场演出中都会演奏它。此外，像"The other side"、"My mind’s eye"以及"The other side"这样的歌曲，多年来已成为我们最受欢迎的作品，我也为它们感到非常自豪。

It’s really difficult to pick just one song. I remember the feeling I had after composing the song ‘Meridian’ which is the first song on the first album. I really felt that I had created something unique and special with this song, and it went on to become like a trademark song for Sirenia. We’ve almost played it at every show since the beginning. I am also very proud of songs like ‘The other side’, ‘My mind’s eye’ and ‘The other side’which has become our most popular songs over the years.

V: 你们认为在现在的哥特金属场景中，Sirenia与其他哥特金属乐队最大的不同是什么？现在的哥特金属场景与Sirenia刚刚成立时发生的最大变化是什么？

In your opinion, what is the biggest difference between Sirenia and other gothic metal bands in today’s scene? What is the biggest change in the gothic metal scene today compared to when Sirenia first formed?

M: 我认为Sirenia在这 25 年里发生了很大的变化，尽管我们始终忠于音乐的基本理念。我认为这些年来，哥特金属风格最大的变化在于降调吉他的广泛应用，以及七弦和八弦吉他的运用，并结合了更加现代化的音色。总的来说，如今的制作水准比 25 年前要高得多。

I believe that Sirenia has changed a lot over these 25 years, although we’ve always stayed true to the basic concept of our music. I believe the biggest changes in the style in general over the years must be a much wider use of downtuned guitars, also the use of seven strings and eight strings in combination with a more modernized sound. In general productions today are way more fine-polished than 25 years ago.
