The interviewee today is Pino Scotto, a famous Heavy Metal musician from Italy. During his career, he has formed multiple excellent bands and released several classic works, which have been widely circulated, Pino Scotto's works are delicate and full of true feelings, which can be felt that he is a very creative musician. Pino Scotto takes care of all the creation, including lyrics, singing, creation, etc., all of which are completed by Pino Scotto alone. Pino Scotto's works add a lot of Blues, Rock and other elements, making his works sound very attractive. At the same time, he also adds a lot of Heavy Metal elements, making his works sound more aggressive and receiving praise from many fans and music critics. Pino, welcome to Volcano Magazine! This is your first interview for a Chinese magazine — what do you think about the Chinese audience and its rock fans?

P: 是的，这是我第一次接受中国网络杂志的采访，我真的很兴奋！我认为中国是一个不断发展的国家，就像它的人民一样——多年来对摇滚和金属音乐非常开放。我真诚地希望尽快来那里玩！

Yes, this is the first time I’ve ever been interviewed by a Chinese webzine, and I’m truly excited about it! I think China is a country in constant evolution, just like its people — very open to rock and metal music for many years now. I sincerely hope to come and play there as soon as possible!

V: 知道你的音乐即使在中国也受到赞赏，对你来说意味着什么？

What does it mean to you to know that your music is appreciated even in China?

P: 我真的很高兴我的音乐在中国受到欣赏，真的很开心！我在米兰认识很多中国人，他们非常乐于接受其他文化，非常有礼貌，很棒的人——正如我之前所说，我很想有一天去那里，不仅是为了表演，也是为了参观你们美丽的地方。

I’m really happy that my music is appreciated in China, truly happy! I know many Chinese people here in Milan, and they’re very receptive to other cultures, very polite, wonderful people — and, as I said before, I’d love to come there one day, not only to perform but also to visit your beautiful places.

V: 你可以向你的中国粉丝问好吗？

Can you say hello directly to your Chinese fans?

P: 问候？一个巨大的问候，更确切地说！发自内心！我真的希望有一天能亲自来打招呼，给你带来我的音乐和我所有的敬意。我有几个朋友和意大利乐队去过那里演奏，他们都说这太棒了！所以，正如我所说的，我真的希望很快能去那里。

A greeting? A huge greeting, rather! From the bottom of my heart! I really hope to come in person one day to say hello — to bring you my music and all my respect. I have several friends and Italian bands who have been there to play, and they all said it was amazing! So, as I said, I really hope to come there soon.

After so many years in the Italian rock scene, what still drives you to write new music?

Passion, for sure! Maybe also because I’ve been lucky enough never to have to do it just as a job — just to “bring bread home,” as we say in Italy (ahah!). It has always been a huge passion. It’s something that’s allowed me to see how the world works — for better or worse — and, above all, it gave me the freedom to write only the kind of music that I love and have always loved. That’s a great privilege that keeps pushing me forward every single day.

V: 对于那些在亚洲还不认识你的人，你会如何描述你的新专辑？

How would you describe your new album to those who don’t know you yet in Asia?

P: 总之，我一直在写Rock Music，总是有一些Blues元素。我一直说我们应该回到Blues，从头开始重写摇滚的历史！只有这样，我们才能希望为摇滚乐开辟一条新的道路。这是新乐队留下印记的唯一途径，就像过去的伟大乐队一样。这就是我们需要重建的——而这一切都始于忧郁！在我的新专辑“The Devil’s Call”中，我表达了我对Blues, Country和Rock’n’Roll的深厚热情。

In a few words, I’ve always written rock music, always with some blues elements in it. I’ve always said we should go back to the blues and rewrite the history of rock from scratch! Only that way can we hope to create a new path for rock’n’roll. That’s the only way new bands can leave their mark, just like the great bands of the past did. That’s what we need to rebuild — and it all starts from the blues! In my new album “The Devil’s Call,” I’ve put all my deep passion for blues, country, and rock’n’roll.

V: 新专辑中的哪首曲目最能代表你目前的心态？

Which track from the new album best represents your current state of mind?

P: 绝对是“Catch 22”。我的灵感来自约瑟夫·海勒的小说，该小说告诉了一名抵达意大利的英国飞行员的故事。我在那个故事中发现了一个巨大的意义——它真的让我印象深刻——这首歌的灵感也由此而来。这是对战争和所有这些丑陋的批评。现在是2025年，我们还在谈论战争吗？不幸的是，这个世界管理不善，被痴迷于权力和金钱的人统治着。所以，是的，“Catch 22”现在真的代表了我。

Definitely “Catch 22.” I was inspired by Joseph Heller’s novel, which tells the story of a British pilot who arrived in Italy. I found a huge meaning in that story — it really struck me — and from there came the inspiration for the song. It’s a criticism of war, of all this ugliness. It’s 2025 and we’re still talking about war? Unfortunately, the world is poorly managed, ruled by people obsessed with power and money. So yes, “Catch 22” truly represents me right now.

V: 你想在这张专辑中探索一些新的音乐影响吗？

Are there any new musical influences you wanted to explore in this album?

P: 正如我之前提到的，在这张专辑中，我想探索我的Blues, Country和Rock’n’Roll根源——我相信它们都在那里！我内心的一切都在这张唱片中，从观众的反应来看，我真的很高兴！

As I mentioned before, in this album I wanted to explore my blues, country, and rock’n’roll roots — and I believe they’re all there! Everything I had inside me is in this record, and judging from how the audience reacted, I’m really happy about it!

V: 回顾过去，你认为你职业生涯中的哪个时刻最重要？

Looking back, which moment in your career do you consider the most important?

P: 回头看啊！当我这样做的时候，我想起了我的家乡，那不勒斯附近的蒙特·迪·普罗奇达。我第一次登台时才17岁——大约60年前！这是一条漫长的道路：许多专辑，许多舞台，两本书，现在第三本刚刚发行，名为“Cuore di Rock’n’Roll”。我真的希望有一天它能在中国出版！这些年来，我经历了许多美好的时刻，但最神奇的时期肯定是和钒在一起——那些早期，我们在大舞台上表演大型演出。那些真是非同寻常、激动人心的时刻！

Looking back, ahah! When I do, I remember my hometown, Monte di Procida, near Naples. I was 17 when I got on stage for the first time — almost 60 years ago! It’s been a long road: many albums, many stages, two books, and now a third one just released, called “Cuore di Rock’n’Roll.” I really hope it will be published in China one day! I’ve had many beautiful moments through the years, but surely the most magical period was with Vanadium — those early years, when we played big shows on big stages. Those were truly extraordinary, emotional moments!

V: 你希望你的粉丝在听你的新专辑时会有什么感觉？

What do you hope your fans will feel when listening to your new album?

P: 我希望任何听过这张专辑的人都能感受到它的真实——它的诚实！我希望他们能感受到我对这种音乐根源的真正热情：摇滚、蓝调、乡村音乐，以及由此产生的一切。我真的尽力了，写了属于那个世界的歌曲。我希望听众能真正感受到这种能量。对我来说，这非常重要——因为在这张专辑中，我倾注了过去、现在甚至未来的能量！我的道路一直是——也将永远是——这条路！大家加油，我真的希望很快能亲自来见你们！ 🎸🔥

I hope that anyone who listens to this album will feel its truth — its honesty! I hope they can feel my real passion for the roots of this music: rock, blues, country, and all that comes from it. I’ve truly tried to give my all, writing songs that belong to that world. I hope listeners will really feel that energy. For me, that’s very important — because in this album, I’ve poured energy from the past, the present, and even the future to come! My path has always been — and will always be — this one!
