基督教徒的鲜血 - 巴西Death / Thrash Metal乐队Açoite专访

今天采访到的是来自巴西的Death / Thrash Metal乐队Açoite，Espantalho，Invasor，Carrasco三个人是多年的好友，他们都很喜欢80年代的Death / Thrash Metal风格，所以三个人决定组建一支致敬这个年代的乐队，2017年Açoite成立并且在2018年发行了一张Demo作品，这张Demo发行之后吸引了巴西歌迷和厂牌的关注，2019年乐队选择在葡萄牙的Helldprod Records厂牌发行第一张正式专辑“Açoite”，嘶嘶作响和模糊不清的嗡嗡声中散发出的黑暗能量，和Demo录音更为原始，Açoite所追求的声音不仅体现在他们爆发力和原始性上，还体现在他们以旧有方式创作的铿锵、咆哮和兽性冲击的歌曲中。在“Açoite”约半小时的旋律中，主要是致敬、怀旧和对旧时代非神的崇拜，目前乐队已经制作完成他们的最新专辑“Revanche Hecatombe“，这张新专辑将在2025年发行，在新专辑发行之际，乐队的贝斯手Espantalho与杂志取得联系进行了一次专访！

Today's interview is with Brazilian Death / Thrash Metal band Açoite, Espantalho, Invasor, and Carrasco have been friends for many years, and they all love the Death / Thrash Metal style of the 80's, so the three of them decided to form a band that pays tribute to this era. Açoite formed in 2017 and released a demo in 2018, which attracted the attention of Brazilian fans and labels alike, and in 2019 the band chose to release their first official album, ‘Açoite’, on Portugal's Helldprod Records. With a dark energy that radiates from their hissing and fuzzy buzz, and a more primal sound on their demo recordings, Açoite are striving for a sound that is not only explosive and primitive, but also jangly, snarling, and bestial in their old-fashioned approach to songwriting. In ‘Açoite’ about half an hour of melodic, mainly homage, nostalgia and worship of the non-gods of the old times, the band has already finished their latest album “Revanche Hecatombe“, which is due for release in 2025, on the occasion of its release. On the occasion of the release of the new album, the band's bassist Espantalho contacted the magazine for an interview!

Hello, Espantalho. Nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview. I think this is the first time for your band to be interviewed by China magazine. First of all, let's say hello to China fans. Aoite band was founded in 2017 and is an experienced band. Who proposed to form this band at the beginning? Does the name Açoite mean anything?

Hello Volcano Magazine! Yes, this is our very first time in the pages of any Chinese media, and we thank you very much for your time, space and effort! An huge cheers from us directly from the gutters of the thrid world! We are very please to be in touch with chinese headbangers!!! The three of us, Carrasco (executioner), Invasor (invader) and Espantalho (scarecrow), are the founding members, and we stay united carrying the band and our word around. We had two vocalists till now, one recorded the first record, and a second one recorded the new album “Revanche! Hecatombe!” that will be out in early 2025 and is the one we are spreading around! We are three long time friends, and we had in the past plans on playing together some kind of sound that could bring back the energy of the oldschool death/thrash sounding, mainly the brazilian 80s scene, that we are huuuge fans. The name “Açoite” means “Whip” in portuguese. We choose this name becouse it is the symbol and torture element that humiliated and degraded the image of the humanity enemy number one, and also of heavy metal: the bastard je$sus chri$t

There are three members in your band, but there are four members in the group photo. Are you all members of the first generation? Can you introduce each member?

No. As said above, we had had two vocalists. On the photo is the one that recorded the second album. He left midway the recording of “Revanche Hecatombe”, and we are currently on the tests of an new vocalist to raise the rotting cursed vengeance of the third world upon the world.

V: 你们乐队的每个成员都是经验丰富的极端金属音乐家，你能告诉我们你的创作过程吗？我相信你的创作过程会激励许多年轻的音乐家。

Every member of your band is an experienced musician who creates extreme metals. Can you tell us about your creative process? I believe that your creative process will inspire many young musicians.

Yes, we all play for an long time now and had passed many bands, we still are in some of them actualy. I can remember of those ones now: Hellish Grave, Disturbia Cladis, Harpago, Extinção, Amazarak, Disgracer, Regressor, The End? and Leprose. Our creative process of making music is based upon the meetings and rehearsals together, first developing some kind of riff, some times getting inspired, some times developing some kind of beat , and we start jamming around that, to get an energy and an direction. The chemistry beteween us is very important. All our process is made together, with the three of us making and stepping in with opinions and ideas. We do not believe in making compositions all alone, dictate only by one person, because it kills the very concept of band, of group, as we idealize for Açoite.

V: 你的专辑录制得很好，你是在哪个录音室录制这张专辑的？谁为你制作的专辑？

our album is excellent in recording. Which studio did you record the album? Who produced the album for you?

Thanks so much! Yes, the album was produced, enginereed, recorded, and mixed all by ourselves. We had our own studio caleed “Manillar”, the place were we rehearse, record, live, dream and party. The way we record and produce music is , above all, an manifest against the current common sense, that savages our underground. Many bands have lazyness in rehearse, compose, of taking part in something spceial and unique. We consider the recording of the album the junction of all our strenght that we share between us, and this kind of thing shoudnt be negleted, done anyway. We had opted to record live the bass and the drums, for an better harmony between them. afterwards we made the guitar layers, vocals and FXs, all made in the most analogous way possible to us. For us what counts are commentaries like yours, that can notice the production, something that is incommon in the audience today. Most of people accepts nowdays bands that use shitty programmed drums machines, plugin guitars, and all sort of immediate abominations. we are ideologicaly against this.

V: 你们乐队的Logo设计得很漂亮，谁为你设计的这个Logo？你的专辑封面设计也很漂亮，谁为你设计的这件艺术品？

The logo of your band is beautifully designed. Who designed this logo for you? Your album artwork is also beautifully designed. Who designed this artwork for you?

E: 非常感谢你的夸奖，我们的Logo是由当地一位名叫Emerson Maia艺术家创作的。起初他有一个更简单的想法。后来一位伟大的朋友兼艺术家Thiago Boller对设计进行了改进。Thiago也是“Revanche Hecatombe”一个非常大胆和彻底的任务！当你拿到实体专辑时（这是唯一真实的方式！）你会完全明白我们的意思。这两张专辑的封面都是由一位名叫Fernando JFL的艺术家制作的。

Thank you so much for your compliment. Our logo was created by a local artist caleed Emerson Maia. initially he made an more simple ideia. Afterwards, an great friend and artist, Thiago Boller, make improvements in the design. Thiago, also, is the man behind all the layout of “Revanche! Hecatombe!” an very audacious and thorough task! When you get the physical album (the only way that is real!) in hands, you will get full the ideia of what we are meaning. Both covers of the albums where made by an artist called Fernando JFL.

V: 经典主义，悲观主义，抑郁，这些是你的音乐主题。为什么选择这样一个音乐主题？你想通过这样一个音乐主题表达什么？你还写了歌词。这些歌词是谁写的，又是什么给了他灵感？

Iconoclassm, Pessimism, Depression, these are your music themes. Why did you choose such a music theme? What do you want to express through such a musical theme? You also wrote the lyrics. Who wrote these lyrics and what inspired him?

E: 我们的音乐反映了我们的渴望，反映了我们在第三世界被诅咒的生活，特别是在拉丁美洲。你可以注意到，这个地区的乐队有这个共同点，当然除了声音之外，歌词讲述了我们的日常生活，我们的愤怒，我们对各种压迫的仇恨，特别是宗教压迫。此外这是金属的一个共同主题，一直存在并将永远存在。南美的金属以这种方式为标志，但我们用自己的方式制造和表达它。我们把赌注压在用当地语言发表宣言的想法上，因为这也象征着我们对纯英语音乐标准化的愤慨。

Our music reflects our longings, and reflects about our cursed lives in the third world, specially here in latin america. You can notice that bands from that region of the globe have this in common, besides the sound, of course. The lyrics speak about our daily lives, our indignation, our hate against all kinds of opression, specially the religious opression. Also, is sa common theme in metal, always been and will always be there. The south american metal is marked by this, but we make and express it on our own way. we bet on the ideia of vomiting our manifestos in the local language, as this also symbolizes a way of marking our indignation of the standardization of english only music.

You released the album in cooperation with Duplicate Records and Helldprod Records. How did you get in touch with these two brands to cooperate? Are you satisfied with their work?

Our first record was released by three labels: Helldprod (Portugal) in tape, WWN (Canada) and Cianeto (Brasil) in CD. For our new record, “Revanche! V: 你的乐队在2019年发行了他们的第一张专辑，这是一个伟大的作品。你们是一支非常传统的乐队，粗糙邪恶的Riff，疯狂的鼓点，野蛮的唱腔，让我想起了八九十年代的南美作品。它是如此独特和令人印象深刻。你如何看待自己的作品？

Your band released its first album in 2019, which is a great work. You are a very traditional band, with rough and evil Riff, crazy drums and barbaric singing, which reminds me of South American works in the 1980s and 1990s. It is so unique and impressive. What do you think of your own works?

E: 谢谢你的溢美之词！我们真的很喜欢我们的工作，我们只会保留一首我们真的喜欢的歌，我们真的觉得那太他妈棒了。我们对此非常重视。我们每天、每时每刻都在金属中生活，所以对我们来说，这是很自然的。但我们对音乐有很高的标准，所以它听起来很好，很有凝聚力。这听起来可能有些重复，但我们真的很喜欢并享受我们所做的事情，我们确实把我们所有的激情和想法都传递给了Açoite。

Thank you so much for your kind words! We really love what we do, and we only keep a song if we really like it, and we really think that is fucking awseome. we take this very seriously. We live what we do in metal every day, every hour, so is  something natural to us. but we do have an very high standard for the music so it can sounds good and cohesive. i may sound repetitive, but we really love and enjoy what we do, we do deliver all our passion and ideas in Açoite.

V: 你的乐队参加过一些音乐节，那些音乐节给你留下了深刻的印象。你能告诉我们当时的气氛吗？2024年还有哪些音乐节邀请你们参加？

Your band has participated in some music festivals, which ones left a deep impression on you. Can you tell us about the atmosphere at that time? What other music festivals will you be invited to attend in 2024?

E: 我们所有的演出都充满了承诺，充满了诅咒和沉重的气氛，对金属的热情，对敌人的仇恨，所有这些都以暴力的形式表现在舞台上。气氛在这种气氛中循环，由真正活在金属中的金属党（舞台和观众）创造！2024年我们不会现场演出。2025年我们将带着新歌手重返舞台。小心!

All the shows we played were full of commitment, with a cursed and heavy atmosphere, with a passion for Metal, and hatred towards our enemies, all of which was expressed in the form of violence on stage. The atmosphere circulates over this climate, created by headbangers (stage and audience) who truly live Metal! We will not play live in 2024. In 2025 we will return to the stage, with our new vocalist. Beware!

V: 2024年你们乐队有什么新作品吗？比如创作和录制一些新歌，你能告诉我们一些信息吗？

Is there any new work for your band in 2024? For example, writing and recording some new songs, can you tell us some information?

E: 目前我有一些想法，但还没有完全确定。我们正在等待"Revanche Hecatmobe"的实体唱片。这样不久之后我们就可以把我们疯狂的头脑重新投入工作了。做好最坏的打算吧！

At the moment I have some ideas, but nothing is quite certain yet. We are waiting for the physical records of “Revanche! Hecatmobe!” to arrive, so that soon after that, we can put our maniac minds to work again. Expect the worst!

V: Açoite是一支非常经典的巴西乐队，我会一直支持和关注你们的乐队，我也希望通过这次采访，让更多的中国歌迷关注和支持你们的乐队，最后你有什么想对中国歌迷说的吗？

Açoite is a very classic Brazilian band. I will always support and pay attention to your band. I also hope that more China fans will pay attention to and support your band through this interview. Do you have anything to say to China fans at the end?
