今天采访到的是来自意大利的Horror / Thrash Metal乐队Blood Thirsty Demons，乐队由Cristian Mustaine一个人在1997年组建，开始这个项目的初衷是为了传达与我在神秘领域的经历有关的故事，在音乐中找到了这一切。我的声音和主题一直是我这个项目的特点，它结合了经典Heavy Metal和恐怖元素，灵感来自于Mercyful Fate和早期的Death SS，还有Candlemass和Cathedral等Doom乐队以及Megadeth和Annihilator等Thrash Metal乐队。在新作品中Cristian Mustaine还在尝试加入一些Progressive元素，再加上浓重的恐怖氛围，让这支乐队与其他的乐队与众不同，2022年乐队发行了最新专辑“Esoteric”，前不久乐队与杂志取得联系进行了一次专访！

Today's interview is with Blood Thirsty Demons, a Horror / Thrash Metal band from Italy, formed in 1997 by Cristian Mustaine alone, the band started this project with the intention of conveying stories related to my experiences in the occult realm, and found it all in the music. My sound and themes have always characterised my project, which combines classic Heavy Metal with horror elements inspired by Mercyful Fate and early Death SS, as well as Doom bands such as Candlemass and Cathedral and Thrash Metal bands. Cristian Mustaine is still trying to add some Progressive elements to his new work, which, combined with the heavy horror vibe, sets the band apart from the rest, and in 2022 the band released their latest album ‘Esoteric’, which the band got in touch with for an interview with the magazine! The band recently got in touch with the magazine for an interview!

Hello Mr Cristian nice to meet you and thank you so much for taking part in this interview, I think it's the first time I've been interviewed by a Chinese magazine, first of all say hello to the Chinese fans, Blood Thirsty Demons was formed in 1997 it's a band with a long history, how did you start the band?

C: 你好，首先我要感谢你邀请我的采访并向所有中国歌迷问好。我想告诉你“Blood Thirsty Demons”的故事。我开始这个项目的初衷是为了传达与我在神秘领域的经历有关的信息，而我在音乐中找到了这一切。我的声音和主题一直是我这个项目的特点，它结合了经典Heavy 和Horror元素，灵感来自于Mercyful Fate和早期的Death SS等乐队，还有Candlemass和Cathedral等Doom乐队以及Megadeth和Annihilator等Thrash Metal乐队。最近我还在尝试引入一些小型的Progressive乐段... 我将自己的音乐定义为horror metal。

Hi, first of all I want to thank you for this interview that you are dedicating to me and I greet all the Chinese fans. I try to tell you the story of “Blood Thirsty Demons”. I started this project driven by the need to convey a message related to my experience in the esoteric field and I found all this with my music. The sound and the themes that has always characterized this project of mine, combines classic heavy with heavy horror, inspired by bands like Mercyful Fate and early Death SS but also doom bands like candlemass and cathedral and thrash metal bands like Megadeth and Annihilator. Lately I've been trying to introduce some small progressive passages as well... I define my sound simply as horror metal.

V: 你是乐队的唯一成员，我认为这在歌曲创作方面非常方便，因为你可以完全按照自己的想法自由创作歌曲，你能描述一下你的创作过程吗？

With you being the only member of the band, I think it comes in very handy in terms of songwriting as you are completely free to write the songs as you see fit, can you describe your songwriting process?

C: 是的，自2009年以来我作为一个人的乐队独自演奏，这使我的创作更加统一和连贯。我的歌曲创作从吉他音轨开始，在此基础上构建整首歌曲。我的专辑是概念性的，因此歌曲之间都有联系。

yes, since 2009 I play alone as a one man band and this brings a more uniform and coherent writing. The writing of my songs starts from a guitar track on which I build the whole song. My albums are concepts and therefore the songs are all linked to each other.

V: 你发行了很多专辑，你的录音令人惊叹，你是在哪个录音室录制专辑的？哪位制作人制作了你的专辑？

You release a lot of albums and your recordings are amazing, what studio did you record your albums in? Which producer produced your albums?

C: 一开始我在当地的一些小录音室录音。从2009年起，我开始在自己家里用自己的设备和软件录制所有唱片，我对结果非常满意。

In the beginning I recorded in some small local recording studios. Since 2009 I have been recording everything by myself at my home with my own equipment and some software. I'm really happy with the result.

V: 你的音乐主题是关于恐怖的，看来你是一个恐怖片爱好者，你为什么选择这个音乐主题，你想通过这个音乐主题表达什么？你还创作了歌词部分，这些歌词的灵感来源是什么？

Your music theme is about Horror, it seems that you are a horror film lover, why did you choose this music theme and what do you want to express through this music theme? You also composed the lyrics part, what inspired these lyrics?

C: 正如我之前所说，我需要传达与我在神秘领域的经历有关的信息，这也是我创作歌词的灵感来源，我希望这些信息能引导其他人找到自己内心的精神平衡。

As I was saying before I am driven by the need to convey a message related to my experience in the esoteric field, and this inspires my lyrics. I hope this message can lead other people to find their own inner spiritual balance.

V: 你曾与C:M Releases、My Kingdom Music、Black Funeral Promotion、My Graveyard Productions、C.M.等唱片公司合作发行专辑，你对他们的工作满意吗？

You've released albums with labels such as C:M Releases, My Kingdom Music, Black Funeral Promotion, My Graveyard Productions, C.M. How did you get in touch with these labels to collaborate? Were you happy with their work?

C: .M. Releases是我的个人品牌，我的每张专辑都使用这个品牌。至于其他厂牌，我对大厂牌比较满意，对其他厂牌则不太满意，因为他们不能保证专辑得到很好的推广，但现在我向前看，无论我与哪个厂牌合作，我都希望关注我的人继续关注我。

C.M. Releases is my personal label and I use this brand on every album of mine. as for the other labels, I was satisfied with the bigger ones, with others less so because they weren't able to guarantee a good promotion to the albums, but now I look forward and regardless of the labels I'll work with, I hope that the people who follow me will continue to do so.

V: 你的乐队Logo是复古设计，这个Logo是谁为你设计的？你的专辑封面也是复古设计，这些专辑封面是谁为你设计的？

Your band logo has a vintage design, who designed this logo for you and your album artwork has a vintage design, who designed this album artwork for you?

C: Logo是一种简单的字体，我很喜欢并立即决定使用它。封面设计一直都是我用黑暗和诡异艺术家的旧画来创作的。

The logo was a simple font that I liked and immediately decided to use it. The cover artworks are always composed by me using old paintings by dark and spooky artists.

V: 你的乐队成立于1997年，但直到2000年才发行了Demo，是什么原因让你选择在时隔三年之后再发行作品？

Your band was formed in 1997 but you only released demos in 2000, what made you choose to release your work after a three year gap?

C: 开始的时候真的很困难。在找到一个稳定的阵容之前，我换了很多乐手，这也是我们时隔三年才录制第一张Demo的唯一原因。

The beginnings were really difficult. I changed musicians a lot before finding a stable line up.

This is the only reason why we recorded the first demo after three years.

V: 作为一支老牌乐队，我相信你参加过很多音乐节，哪些音乐节给你留下了深刻的印象，能描述一下音乐节的氛围吗？

As a veteran band I'm sure you've been to a lot of festivals, which ones have left a lasting impression on you, can you describe the atmosphere and which festivals you've been invited to in 2025?

C: 2025年我不会参加演出，因为我一个人继续做乐队，不能做现场演出。过去我们参加过一些重要的音乐节。非常有趣的一次是与Abismal Grief一起在德国举办的“Bonded By Blood”音乐节，另一次是与Desmember一起在意大利举办的“Tradate Iron”音乐节。

We will not play in 2025 because I continue as a one man band alone and I can't do live shows. In the past we played in some important festivals. A really fun one was the Bonded By Blood festival in Germany with Abismal Grief and another one was the Tradate Iron Festival in Italy with Desmember.

V: 2024年即将过去，在即将到来的2025年，你有什么新的计划？比如写作、录制新专辑？能向大家透露一些信息吗？

As 2024 comes to a close, what new work do you have in store for the upcoming 2025? Like writing, recording a new album? Can you reveal some information to everyone?

C: 当然可以，目前我正在为新专辑录制一些新歌，其中有很多前卫的部分和新的声音，我希望大家会喜欢这些歌。我希望能在2025年完成这张专辑，但这在很大程度上取决于我的时间。

Sure. At the moment I'm recording some new songs with a lot of prog parts and a new sound for the new album, and I hope people will approciate these songs. I hope to be able to complete this album in 2025, but it will depend a lot on the time I have.

V: Blood Thirsty Demons乐队是一支经典的意大利老牌乐队，我会一直支持和关注你们，也希望通过这次采访能有更多的中国歌迷关注和支持你们，最后有什么想对中国歌迷说的吗？

Blood Thirsty Demons is a classic Italian old school band, I will always support and follow your band, and I hope that through this interview more Chinese fans will pay attention to and support you, what would you like to say to your Chinese fans in the end?

C: 首先我要感谢你们为我提供的这个空间，感谢你们对我音乐的支持。我想邀请所有喜欢这种音乐类型的中国歌迷来听我的歌，希望能给他们带来感动。音乐需要每个人的支持，我希望你们也能欣赏我的作品并愿意大力支持我。再次感谢大家！
