Its jarring artwork and vicious sound have made this solo project rise to prominence among the new generation of grindcore acts.

The name Spondylosys derives from spinal disorders. What inspired you to pick this name, and why did you establish skeletal pathology as the central theme of the project?
S: 这最初其实只是个玩笑，但随着时间的推移，这个名字被赋予了更严肃的含义。当我亲身经历背痛困扰时，便开始对脊柱疾病和骨骼病理学产生了浓厚兴趣。这种亲身经历逐渐影响了项目的发展方向，并确立了骨骼病理学作为其核心主题之一的地位。
It actually started as a joke, but over time, the name took on a more serious meaning. As I began experiencing back pain myself, I became more interested in spinal disorders and skeletal pathology. That personal experience gradually influenced the direction of the project and set skeletal pathology as one of its central themes.
V: 你是从什么时候开始接触Goregrind、血碾这类极端风格？哪些老牌血肉碾核乐队最早影响了你？
When did you first get into Goregrind? Which classic pioneering goregrind bands made the earliest impact on your music?
S: LDOH, Komodonesia, Blenncardichromodacryexgenitohaemgene, Anal Birth, Uretritis, Urinary Tract Infection From Severe Pus Clots, HYDROENCEPHALOCYSTOCELE, Dahmer (CAN), Meatus, Archagathus, Nucleus, SMES...
V: 大量曲目时长极短，很多30–90秒，你如何看待短曲形式对于Goregrind表达的意义？是否会刻意限制歌曲长度？
Most of your tracks are extremely short, ranging roughly from 30 to 90 seconds. What do you think the shortsong format brings to Goregrind’s artistic expression? Do you intentionally restrict the length of your compositions?
S: 这并非刻意为之。我其实并没有给歌曲设定特定的时长限制——这些曲目自然而然就呈现出了现在的样子。我只是顺应感觉，以最自然的形式进行创作。
It’s not intentional. I don’t really set a specific time limit for the songs—the tracks simply come out that way. I write them in whatever form feels natural.
V: 鼓机是Spondylosys不可缺少的一部分，你用实体鼓机还是编曲软件编写了鼓的部分？在编写blast、变速段落时，如何避免鼓机听感僵硬？
Drum programming is an indispensable foundation of Spondylosys. Do you compose your drum parts with physical hardware drum machines or inside a DAW? When crafting blasts and temposhifting segments, how do you avoid a rigid, mechanical sound from programmed drums?
S: 这是电子鼓与鼓机的结合体。所有的鼓点部分都是实际演奏出来的，而非逐个音符编程生成的。我还在录音中保留了演奏时的失误和瑕疵。我相信，正是这些不完美赋予了鼓声更自然的质感，并为音乐注入了更多的人情味，从而避免了那种过于干净、机械且带有“数字塑料感”的声音。
It’s a combination of eDrums and a drum machine. All of the drum parts are actually played rather than programmed note by note. I also leave the mistakes and misplays in the recordings. I believe those imperfections make the drums feel more organic and give the music a more human character, instead of that overly clean, mechanical “digital plastic” sound.
V: 很多同风格乐队过度堆砌噪音，你作品保留了规整Riff结构，你如何看待血碾中过度泛滥的噪音成分？
Many bands within the style overload their music with excessive noise. Your material retains structured, distinguishable riffs. What is your opinion on the over-saturation of noise within modern goregrind?
S: 观察得很到位。我认为这正是区分Goregrind与Gorenoise的切入点。此外，在保持音色清晰分明与过度制作或音色过饱和之间，往往只有一线之隔。就我个人而言，那些过度制作且音色极度饱和的乐队并不太合我的口味。当然，我完全尊重选择这种风格的音乐人——这纯粹是个人喜好问题，也仅仅是我的一家之言。
That’s well observed. I think this is where we start to distinguish goregrind from gorenoise. There’s also a very thin line between having a clean, defined sound and becoming overly produced or saturated. Personally, overproduced and heavily saturated bands aren’t really my favorite. I have total respect for anyone who chooses that approach—it’s simply a matter of personal taste and my own humble opinion.
V: 很多听众对血碾会有这样的疑问：这些血腥医学意象纯粹是风格符号，还是背后带有对肉体衰败、病痛、生命脆弱的思考？你怎么看待回答这个问题？
Many listeners raise a recurring question regarding goregrind’s medical and visceral imagery: are these graphic motifs merely stylistic ornamentation, or do they carry deeper reflections on physical decay, suffering, and the fragility of human life? How would you respond to this question?
S: 这无疑是整体美学的一部分，且主要与每次发行的主题相关。与此同时，我认为其背后蕴含着更深层的思考：我们都是有机生命体，终将走向消亡。
It’s definitely part of the aesthetic, and it’s mostly related to the theme of each release. At the same time, I think there’s a deeper reflection behind it: we are all organic matter, and eventually, we will all expire.
V: 你的封面让我印象深刻，所有血腥解剖、腐烂人体主题封面，是你亲自构思画面方向，还是交由画师自由发挥？你对极端金属封面美学有什么偏好？
Your artwork left a strong impression on me — all covers revolve around anatomical dissection and decaying human flesh. Do you outline the visual concepts yourself, or do you give the illustrator creative freedom? What aesthetics do you gravitate toward for extreme metal cover art?
所有的视觉设计工作——包括封面、CD与磁带的排版、Logo以及其他视觉元素——都由我亲自操刀。我认为视觉风格应当与音乐相契合，因此我倾向于完全掌控视觉呈现的方向。在美学风格上，我非常推崇那种既大胆创新、又融合了原始且写实的gore意象的排版设计。我更欣赏具有艺术特质的设计，而非单纯为了制造视觉冲击而堆砌的猎奇画面。我个人会避开漫画、动画、色情内容，以及任何带有“梗文化”或显得幼稚的元素；AI生成的内容更是绝对不在考虑之列。
I do all the artwork myself, including the covers, CD and cassette layouts, logos, and other visual elements. I believe the artwork should match the music, so I prefer to have full control over the visual direction. As for aesthetics, I really enjoy bold and creative layouts combined with raw, realistic gore imagery. I like when the design has some artistic character instead a simple graphic shock picture. Personally, I avoid manga, anime and porn or anything that's meme or childish releated. AI is definelly not welcome.
V: Spondylosys在短时间内接连和Descab、Blessed By Vomit、Butane、Komodonesia等大量乐队推出Split，为什么如此偏爱分辑形式，而非优先录制全长专辑？这些乐队的主题和你的主题是否契合？挑选Split合作乐队，你的标准是什么？
In a relatively short span of time, Spondylosys has released numerous split records alongside Descab, Blessed By Vomit, Butane, Komodonesia and other acts. Why do you favour split releases over prioritizing a fulllength album? Do these collaborating bands share thematic common ground with Spondylosys? What criteria do you follow when selecting bands for split collaborations?
S: 这种情况通常发生在我受邀制作split的时候。我平时录制素材时，往往是抱着日后将其收录进全长专辑或EP的心态，但有时这些素材最终却以合辑的形式发布了。其实，我目前正在制作一张全长专辑（CD/磁带格式）。主要的挑战在于，要创作出时长在10分钟以上的此类风格作品，需要投入大量的时间与心血。
It usually happens when someone approaches me about doing a split. I normally record material with the possibility of using it later for a full-length or an EP, and sometimes that material ends up being released as a split instead. I’m actually working on a full-length CD/cassette at the moment. The main challenge is the amount of time and dedication required to create 10 or more minutes of material in this kind of genre.
V: 当下Goregrind圈子两极分化：一部分死守90年代原始粗糙传统，另一部分大量融合噪音、电子元素，你站在哪一侧？如果让你推荐3张影响你最深的Goregrind经典唱片，会是哪三张？
The current Goregrind scene seems split into two factions: purists who uphold the raw, lo-fi sound of the 90s, and others who heavily incorporate noise and electronic elements. Which side do you align with? If you had to name three goregrind records that influenced you the most, which ones would you choose?
S: 我认为你提到的那种分野，更多是指Goregrind与Gorenoise之间的区别，而不是 Goregrind 内部两个不同流派的差异。我觉得Spondylosys处于两者之间，比例大概各占一半。我既喜欢这两种风格的元素，同时也希望乐曲的Riff和结构能保持清晰可辨。通常来说，Gorenoise风格的作品会极度侧重于噪音成分，而Spondylosys则试图在两者之间保持平衡。

I think the division you’re referring to is more about Goregrind versus Gorenoise rather than two different factions within Goregrind itself. I’d say Spondylosys sits somewhere in the middle, roughly 50/50. I enjoy elements of both approaches, but I still want the riffs and structure to remain distinguishable. You’ll generally find a much stronger emphasis on noise in Gorenoise releases, while Spondylosys tries to maintain a balance between the two.

Are you working on any active side projects outside of Spondylosys? What is the longterm creative roadmap for Spondylosys? Do you foresee any shifts in your core thematic focus moving forward?
S: 该计划旨在每月至少发行一次作品，重点在于实体发行以及与风格和美学理念相近的乐队进行Split。我们将继续探索解剖学、医学及内脏相关的题材，同时让该项目自然演变。
The plan is making at least on release per month, aiming for phisycal releases and splits with bands that are around the same themes and aestetics. We are continuing to explore the same anatomical, medical, and visceral territory while allowing the project to evolve naturally.
