荒废的国度，凄凉的王座 - 芬兰Blackened Death Metal乐队Progeny of Sun专访

今天采访到的是来自芬兰的Blackened Death Metal乐队Progeny of Sun，组建于2017年的Progeny of Sun最初由吉他手Jaakko和歌手Niko组建，不久之后乐队的其他成员也加入乐队，让Progeny of Sun乐队从两个人的阵容成为了一支五个人的完整乐队，完成阵容之后乐队在2019年发行了单曲和EP专辑，2019年的EP专辑在芬兰优秀的Inverse Records厂牌发行，从此乐队和Inverse Records成为了合作伙伴，Inverse Records厂牌发行了乐队的所有专辑，2023年乐队的第一张正式专辑在Inverse Records厂牌发行，通过厂牌的推广，让Progeny of Sun乐队在其他国家也拥有了很多歌迷，也让这支乐队成为了目前芬兰非常重要的乐队之一，今年乐队发布了他们的最新单曲“Penance”，在新作品发行之际，杂志通过厂牌与乐队取得联系进行了一次专访！

Today's interview was with the Blackene Death Metal band Progeny of Sun from Finland. Founded in 2017, Progeny of Sun was initially formed by guitarist Jaakko and singer Niko. Soon after, other members of the band also joined the band, transforming it from a two person lineup to a complete five person band. After completing the lineup, the band released singles and EP albums in 2019, and the 2019 EP album was released on the excellent Inverse Records label in Finland. From then on, the band and Inverse Records became partners, Inverse Records has released all of the band's albums, and their first official album in 2023 will be released on Inverse Records. Through the promotion of the label, Progeny of Sun has gained many fans in other countries and has become one of the most important bands in Finland. This year, the band released their latest single "Penance", and on the occasion of the release of their new work, the magazine contacted the band through the label for an exclusive interview!

Hello brother, it's nice to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview. I think this is the first time your band has accepted an interview from a Chinese magazine. First of all, let's say hello to all Chinese fans and friends. Progeny of Sun was founded in 2017 and is a band with 8 years of history. Who proposed to form this band in the first place?

J: 是的，谢谢你邀请我们采访，这是中国杂志的第一次！到目前为止这对我们来说是一条漫长的道路，但与此同时我们才刚刚开始！我们的吉他手Jaakko和歌手Niko于2017年以两人项目组建了乐队。Jaakko写了一些歌曲，正在寻找一位来自当地芬兰音乐家网站的歌手。从那时起乐队最终发展成为一个5人乐队。

Yeah, thanks for asking for an interview with us, the first time for a Chinese magazine! It's been a long road for us thus far, but at the same time we are just getting started! Our guitarist Jaakko and vocalist Niko formed the band in 2017 as a two-man project. Jaakko had some songs written and was looking for a singer from a local finnish musician website. From that point on the band grew to a 5 piece group eventually.

V: 你们乐队的成员都是第一代吗？你换过乐队成员吗？为什么第一代成员离开了乐队？新成员是怎么加入乐队的？你对新成员的工作满意吗？

Are all members of your band from the first generation? Have you ever changed band members? Why did the first generation members leave the band? How did the new members join the band? Are you satisfied with the new member's job?

J: 我们都是原始成员，所以我们的阵容没有变化。

We are all original members, so no line-up changes for us.

V: 你能介绍一下你的创作过程吗？

Can you introduce your creative process?

J: 我（Joni）和Jaakko主要创作歌曲。所以这些歌曲是从某种吉他即兴重复段开始形成的。我们首先制作器乐演示歌曲，然后一起决定这些歌曲是否足够好，可以进一步处理。没有神奇的创作过程，我们只是尽力创作出最好歌曲。

Me (Joni) and Jaakko primarily compose the songs. So the songs start to form from some kind of guitar riff. We first make instrumental demo songs and then decide together if the songs are good enough to be processed further. There is no magical creative process, we just try to do the best banger songs that we are able come up with.

V: 你的乐队成立于2017年，但你的第一张专辑是在2019年发行的。你为什么选择在两年后发布这部作品？

Your band was founded in 2017, but your first album was released in 2019. Why did you choose to release the work two years later?

J: 创作歌曲需要时间，所以当Jaakko和Niko为乐队创作第一首歌曲时，从一个想法到完全准备好的歌曲发布需要几年时间。乐队从早期的歌曲中成长了很多，我们认为这张即将发行的专辑是我们迄今为止创作工作的最佳版本。

Making songs takes time, so when Jaakko and Niko did the first songs for the band, it took a couple of years from an idea to fully ready songs to be released. The band has grown a lot from those early songs, and we think this upcoming album is the absolute best version of our creative work so far.

V: 你们乐队的所有作品都有很好的录音效果。你的专辑是在哪个录音室录制的？哪位制作人为你制作了这张专辑？你今年刚刚发行的最新单曲的录制过程顺利吗？

All of your band's works have excellent recording effects. Which studio did you record your album in? Which producer made the album for you? Did the recording process of your latest single just released this year go smoothly?

J: 我们的吉他手Jaakko为声音做了大部分的艰苦工作，所以他是我们即将发行的这张专辑的混音工程师。这张专辑是在一个家庭录音室录制的，除了我们在芬兰的沃特卡斯尔工作室录制的鼓曲目。大师是由才华横溢的Jonathan Mazzeo完成的。我们对这张专辑的整体音效非常满意！

Our guitarist Jaakko did most of the hard work for the sound, so he was our mixing engineer for this upcoming album. The album was recorded in a home studio, except for the drum tracks that we recorded in Watercastle studio here in Finland. Mastering was done by the brilliant Jonathan Mazzeo. We are very happy with the sound overall for this album!

V: 你们乐队的Logo设计很漂亮。谁为你设计了这个Logo？你的专辑封面设计也很漂亮。谁为你设计了这些艺术品？

Your band's logo design is very beautiful. Who designed this logo for you? Your album artwork is also beautifully designed. Who designed these artworks for you?

J: 这个Logo是由我们当天在网上找到的一位标志设计师制作的。这张专辑的艺术作品是由我（Joni）和Niko在人工智能工具的帮助下完成的。

The logo was made by a logo designer we found online back in the day. Artwork for this album was done by me (Joni) and Niko with some help from AI tools.

V: 你的乐队的音乐主题是关于不合规的，你为什么从反强化、言论自由和人性的角度选择这个音乐主题？你想通过这个音乐主题表达什么？你还创建了歌词部分。谁创作了这些歌词，是什么启发了他？

Your band's music theme is about nonconformity, Why did you choose this music theme in terms of Anti reinforcement, Freedom of speech, and Humanity? What do you want to express through this music theme? You also created the lyrics section. Who created these lyrics and what inspired them?

J: 我们的歌手Niko创作歌词和主题。他评论道：“我认为我们不想在抒情方面限制自己太多。当然这些都是重要的事情，但我想能够写任何我想写的东西，没有太多的限制。我确实经常把我的梦想作为主题。我记得我的许多梦想，它们也不是特别好，所以它们在故事中的形象很好。第一张专辑更多地涉及这些主题，但新专辑只是一张金属专辑，歌词与我产生共鸣。”

Our vocalist Niko creates the lyrics and themes. He comments: "I don't think we want to limit ourselves too much lyrically. Of course those are important things, but i wanna be able to write whatever i want without too many limitations. I do use my dreams a lot as topics. I remember many of my dreams and they are not particularly nice either so they work well as images in the stories. The first album was more with those topics, but the new one is just metal album with lyrics that resonates with me"

Inverse Records is a long-term partner of your band, and it is an outstanding label in your country. How did you establish contact with this label for cooperation? Are you satisfied with the job at this brand?

J: 是的，反向唱片在我们的旅程中提供了巨大的帮助，如果没有他们，我们就不会为中国杂志做采访了！他们在所有事情上都是一个很好的合作伙伴。

Yeah, Inverse Records has been a huge help in our journey, and without them we would not be doing an interview for a Chinese Magazine for example! They have been a great partner overall in everything.

V: 首先祝贺你今年的最新单曲发行。你的作品晦涩难懂，给人一种不安的感觉。气氛很浓，吉他音色朦胧低沉。结合一些死亡金属元素，你的作品给人一种非常激烈的感觉。你对你的工作有什么看法？新作品和旧作品之间有什么变化吗？

First of all, congratulations on the release of your latest single this year. Your work is dark and obscure, giving people a sense of unease. The atmosphere is strong, and the guitar tone is obscure and low. Combined with some death metal elements, your work gives people a very fierce feeling. What is your opinion on your work? Is there any change between the new work and the old one?

J: 这些新歌比老歌更残酷，我们认为我们已经在如何作曲上找到了自己的声音和风格。老歌很棒，但我们相信这些新歌更上一层楼。我希望听众也有同样的想法。

These new songs are more brutal than the old stuff, and we think we have found our sound and style on how to compose songs. The old songs are great, but these new ones are in the next level we believe. I hope the listeners think the same.

V: 作为一个老乐队，你参加过哪些音乐节，哪些音乐节给你留下了深刻的印象？你能介绍一下当时的现场气氛吗？你的乐队计划在2025年参加哪些音乐节？

As an old band, which music festivals have you participated in and which ones have left a deep impression on you? Can you introduce the live atmosphere at that time? Which music festivals are your band planning to participate in in 2025?

J: 我们是一支“老”乐队，但从我们的角度来看，我们才刚刚开始。正如你所说，我们还没有“突破”。因此我们希望在不久的将来能举办最大的演出和节日。我们想在世界各地演出，欧洲最大的节日是我们的目标。谁知道呢，即使是中国，那也会很酷！

We are an ”old” band, but from our point of view, we are just getting started. We have not managed to ”break through” yet, as you say. So the biggest shows and festivals are hopefully coming in the near future for us. We would like to play all over the world, and the biggest festivals in Europe are our goal. Who knows, meaby China also, that would be so cool!

V: Progeny of Sun是一支优秀的乐队，我将永远支持和追随你们的乐队。我也希望通过这次采访吸引更多的中国歌迷关注和支持你们的乐队。最后你有什么想对中国球迷说的吗？

Progeny of Sun is an excellent band, and I will always support and follow your band. I also hope to attract more Chinese fans to follow and support your band through this interview. Do you have anything you want to say to Chinese fans in the end?

J: 我们想听听中国观众对我们歌曲的看法！我认为那里有很大的潜力，我们希望我们的音乐能吸引所有中国歌迷。我们感谢您给我们这个机会，将我们的音乐传播到您美丽的国家！

We would like to hear some feedback from the Chinese audience of what they think about our songs! I think there is a lot of potential there, and we hope that our music reaches all the Chinese fans. We thank you for this opportunity to spread our music to your beautiful country!
